What are 7 year old girls into these days?

Q. I need to buy something for my goddaughter who turned 7 today. I am not that close to her unfortunately as I do not see her often but I still get her presents and hopefully will see her for her birthday this year. But I have no idea what 7 year old girls are into. I doubt it's Dora the Explorer as that was her favorite show. So any ideas of what I can get her to surprise her?

A. My 7-year old daughter liked Dora as a 3-4 year old, but no more! Here are her current favorites:
* Polly Pocket
* Doll house
* Jewelry & hair clips
* Disney princesses
* Outdoor toys; roller blades, bicycle, jump rope. She loves to decorate her bike.
* Interesting school supplies (cute erasers, sparkly pencils, stickers, and sets of colored pencils, paints, etc.)
She's not crazy about Barbies, but some of her friends like them.
Her aunt gave her a gift certificate to Target last spring, and that was VERY exciting for her.

Hope that gives you some ideas!

What are some good gifts to give to a 7 year old girl and also need some ideas for a 3 year old boy?
Q. I have a combined birthday party to go to this weekend for a 7 year old girl and a 3 year old boy, and I have no idea what to get for each of them. Especially the 7 year old girl. Please help??

A. I have a cousin that will be turning 7 and I was going to get her some play makeup and maybe a purse and jewelry.

I also have a son that just turned 2 yrs old but he acts much older. He is into cars, monster trucks (his favorite is Grave Digger), Spiderman and Superman, anything from the movie Cars, and basketball and baseball stuff. We got him a adjustable basketball hoop that goes from 4 ft. to 6 ft. at Wal-Mart for about $30 and he's been shooting hoops like crazy for the past week! Also, depending on your budget...any of the motorized trucks, cars that they can ride in. We got our son a Spiderman 4 wheeler and it was only $65! He rode it the rest of the night at his birthday party!!!

Need help!!! What are some great school age children's birthday party games to play at home?
Q. I am having a home birthday party in a week. What are some of the MOST FUN games that 7 year old little girls can play? Thank you for any good ideas!

A. Treasure Hunt Games - birthday party kids hunt hidden treasure by using clues..

Spin the Bottle Game - This birthday party game is fun when it is time to open the birthday presents. Have kids hold the birthday present that they brought and sit in a circle. Place the spinner (bottle or other item) in the middle of the circle and have the birthday child spin the bottle. They will then open the gift of the child the bottle is pointing to when it stops. Tip: Use an item from your birthday party’s theme instead of the bottle - magic wand for a princess party, sword for a pirate party etc.

Telephone Game - Have children sit in a circle for this birthday game. The birthday child goes first and whispers a sentence to the person on their right. That person then whispers what they heard to the next person … and so on. When the message has gone around the circle, the person next to the birthday child tells the message out loud. Then the birthday child tells the original message. Very funny to see how things repeated change! Start game again with the next person.

Fashion Show - One of our girls favorite activities! Collect a large box full of all kinds of fabulous items such as boas, tiaras, wigs, capes, fancy dresses, high heel shoes, sunglasses, hairpieces, long necklaces and big earrings. Tape off a long "runway" or use an outside walkway to walk down. Let them dress up and walk down the "runway" to fun music. Take pictures with a digital camera or video tape them so you can make them a CD or DVD of their birthday show.

Another game we played was the parent who is hosting the party would put about a dozen items on a tray, for instance a rubber band, paper clip, a pen you get the idea. The kids would have 5 seconds to look at the tray, then would have to write down as many items that they remembered. The person who can name the most won.

hope it helped.. have fun..
