Birthday gift ideas for 14 and 7 year old.?

Ginger

I have a birthday party to go to today. She is kind of a girly girly although she likes some sports. Defiantly likes pink. I don't know her that well so I was thinking of getting a Family Video gift card with candy and this popcorn thing they have. Any better ideas? ( on a budget too!) I also need ideas for my brother who is turning 7 soon. He really likes skate boarding, star wars, Lego's, and video games. Got any good ideas? ( on a budget also!) Thanks in advance!

Answer
hmm. maybe you can go to the mall and get her a cute necklace. she might like jewlry.

What do you buy a 7 year old for her birthday??? Help!?

Mikayla

I have to buy a birthday gift for a 7 year old girl, I have no idea what girls that age are into. Help me please!!!

Answer
Whoever said clothes, BAD IDEA! No seven year old wants clothes for a present (unless it's a princess costume). I've been babysitting for one family since their kids were one and four, and they've always loved my presents! When the girl was 7 she was into dolls (not so much barbies though but that's uncommon, barbies are usually a safe bet at that age) especially American Girl (americangirl.com), but get this if she already has a doll because they're very expensive. Girly video games are always good (animal crossing, mario, etc.) if they already have a game system. Arts and crafts kits are also good. Some stores even carry butterfly raising kits, it contains everything except the butterfly catepillars, but there's an order form in the kit that they mail and the catepillars are sent to them (already paid for). It's really fun to raise them and then let them go when they're butterflies! Webkinz are also popular with little girls right now. They are little stuffed animals that can be "brought to life" on the webkinz website. The website access code is in the stuffed animals tag and you can buy these at any Hallmark store. Build-a-bears are cute too, but you'd want to take the girl with you so she can make the bear herself (they let you stuff it and put a heart in it). Hope this helps =)

40th Birthday Gift Suggestions Needed!?

misswriter

One of my best friends is turning 40 and I need a great gift suggestion. She's a hip, single woman with no children. I'm looking to spend around $200, give or take. I want something really special/meaningful. Any ideas??

Answer
I always try to pick a unique and special gift for my friends and loved ones. I found this great site â http://my-song.ca/s/bdo1! You go on and make a personalized song â I did it for my best friendâs birthday. I had a great time putting the song together. Itâs completely personalized, and so cute! Itâs something I know she wonât forget for a long time.

What do you get the woman who has almost everything?

Joy

My sister is turning 40 and I can't think of the just right gift for her. She is married and they are financially very comfortable and she is able to buy pretty much whatever she wants and does. I however am on a pretty small budget but want to get her something special. I have already over done the coupons, massages, scrapbooks, baby sitting offers, etc. I am stumped. Her husband is throwing her a huge surprise party which I am helping organize but when it comes to the gift I am at a loss. If anyone can provide some ideas or inspiration I would be so grateful.

Answer
Since it is her 40th Birthday why not a over the hill gag gift?
Just an idea...

Birthday gift ideas for 50-up men?

OxoxO

My father is turning 52, and I need some birthday gift ideas! I would not like to spend too much (he's not one to require or want a lot of money or really nice things). He likes gifts that are useful and maybe a little funny. Oh, he likes the Dilbert Comics, but I don't know if he'd really want a bunch of dilbert stuff. He also likes Lowe's. Anything from gardening to cooking/grilling. Please Help!

Answer
I gave my parents a Netflix subscription and they love it. So maybe that? They start at about $6/mo and you could say it's for however many months you can afford.

Lottery tickets are also fun... or a magazine or newspaper subscription or of course gift cards to places like Lowe's. Maybe some really good coffee beans with a Starbucks gift card.

Ideas for birthday Gifts!?

Jen

I'd like to get my boyfriend something for his birthday thats gonna make him think "wow"! :D Any ideas are grateful
we've been together 4 years and he always asks for the same each year, albums, ps3 games etc. I wanna get him somthing different and special. was thinkin a watch but he doesn't wear one and don't want to spend lots for it not to be worn.

Answer
What are his hobbies?

You can buy him an instrument, but they are pricey unless you buy it used.

Clothes, Hat, Sunglasses, (Last resort!)

Sports fan?

Gift cards are cool, but he won't be excited.

Wait... MEN are not hard to shop for! I just don't see why men are hard to buy gifts. Feed us, love us or give us money or maybe all three. I don't know how much easier it could get.
Just seriously don't buy us clothes unless you stink at cooking, you can't love us sexually or you absolutely have no clue what we like.

My dad bought me a gold watch, but I don't wear it because I just don't feel comfortable with a watch on my wrist. If he say's he likes that then buy him that. We are not complex, just simple straightforward. You could one up him and buy tickets to a concert he likes and go with him.

I strongly suggest food. Good food, not take out.

Maybe a new MP3 or a disc player.

Go to a store like best buy and pretend you just want batteries, but check on what he looks at.

Answer
Found this, Should be helpful:

Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Active Aries is always looking for ways to stay in shape, particularly during the holiday season... so athletic equipment is usually a good choice. People born under this sign are also fond of the color red, so a cranberry scarf or a scarlet hat could win their favor. If romance is in the air, let Aries know that you put his or her needs first. Buy tickets for two to a sporting event you loathe... or a CD by an artist you can't stand... to win big points with your favorite Ram.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus appreciates any gift that appeals to his or her sensual side. A box of gourmet chocolates, a richly colored tapestry or a soft cashmere blanket are all great options for Bulls. This sign also enjoys having money to play with, so a gift certificate to their favorite store is a welcome option. Always remember that quality is more important than quantity â Taurus would rather have a small bottle of expensive cologne than a carafe of the cheap stuff.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Quick-witted Geminis enjoys gifts that appeal to their sizable intellects. A challenging book is always welcome, as is a magazine subscription. This sign rules the hands, so some scented hand lotion or a sparkling ring might delight. Geminis also love to entertain, so a set of glassware might fit the bill. If you want to splurge on a special Twin, give them the latest cell phone or PDA, so they can keep in touch with their gazillion friends.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Sentimental Cancer loves gifts that have personal meaning. Handmade items always delight, whether it's a finger painting, angora sweater or mincemeat pie. This sign also has a special affinity for silver â a monogrammed hand mirror or picture frame would be very well received. Since Crabs have an affinity for liquids of all kinds, a special bottle of wine, a fancy cappuccino maker or a shiny tea kettle are also good possibilities. And don't forget that these Moon children love the domestic arts â a cookbook specializing in comfort food is another sure winner.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Lions love gifts that make them look and feel terrific. Hair accessories, cosmetics and grooming items are all good choices for this image-conscious sign. Leos love drama, and enjoy presents that involve a bit of flair. Opera tickets, gold jewelry or animal print lingerie are right up this cat's alley. Leos also love to gamble, so a sheaf of lottery tickets or a weekend getaway to the casino could make them purr with delight. When shopping for clothing, remember that Lions have a special affinity for red, gold and purple.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Virgins love practical gifts...so avoid dust-catching baubles. A bread-making machine or a power drill would be equally welcome. These folks are also known to pride themselves on their impeccable appearance. Scented soaps, lotions and shampoos made by an earth-friendly company might be just the ticket. Virgos are also incredibly organized and might appreciate a good watch or a leather-bound date book. Or try a health-conscious basket of organic foodstuffs.

Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Librans have a special affinity for music, and always appreciate a good CD to add to their voluminous collection. If you want to do something really special for a Libran friend, splurge on a two concert tickets â this sign hates to do anything alone. Born beneath the sign of the scales, they also need plenty of balance in their lives, so a pair of candlesticks or bookends might appeal. If you're still stumped for ideas, have a lavish bouquet of red roses delivered accompanied by a loving handwritten note.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpions are secretive by nature and enjoy gifts that obscure their appearance in some way. A pair of designer sunglasses, a filmy scarf or a slouchy hat are all great choices for this sign. These mystery-lovers also enjoy moody, atmospheric stories. A collection of film noirs on DVD are sure to go over well with your favorite Scorpion. The rumors concerning this sign's sexual appetite are happily true, so seductive lingerie would get plenty of use. Since Scorpions also like to get beneath the surface; a gift certificate for a deep-cleansing facial will be appreciated.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
As far as Archers are concerned, half the fun of getting gifts is ripping them open! If Sag doesn't like a present, though, he or she will tell you outright. Avoid awkward scenes this holiday season by giving this outdoor enthusiast some camping equipment. Hiking boots or a water-proof parka would also be appropriate. These animal lovers adore any gift associated with their pets. A calendar filled with pictures of dogs or horses is sure to elicit a big smile. Finally, you can always feed this sign's wanderlust with a comprehensive atlas.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Career-oriented Capricorn always enjoys gifts that will boost their job status. A leather laptop carrier or monogrammed briefcase would be welcome. Contrary to popular belief, though, Goats aren't all work and no play. This sign is blessed with a wicked sense of humor, so try the BBC's "The Office" series on DVD. Capricorns also love luxurious presents they'd never buy for themselves, like a silk bathrobe.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
You never know what this unpredictable sign will be doing from moment to moment â one week it's skydiving and the next it's yoga! Still, this quirky sign always appreciates technological gadgets, whether it's an all-region DVD player or an iPod Nano. If you'd like to choose something a little more personal, why not make a photo album detailing all of your exploits with the Water-Bearer? Aquarius may not show it, but they harbor a special fondness for their friends. Still stumped for ideas? A basket filled with brand new socks is both weird and practical enough for this sign, which rules the ankles.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
These mystics love gifts of all kinds, but especially ones that help them escape the harsh realities of life. A bottle of champagne, a kaleidoscope or a book of fairy tales will appeal to your Fishy friends. And because Pisces is a Water sign, it's a good bet they'll appreciate bath salts, foaming cleansers and shower gels. If you'd like to give something really special, a digital camera will make a bit hit with this natural-born photographer. Looking for a romantic gift? Choose a gilt-edged volume of love poetry.

Cheers!

Birthday Gift Ideas Please?

Just Sam

It's my sister's 19th birthday in a few weeks (I know it's not a big birthday age) and I really want to get her something meaningful and that shows our friendship because we are really close and she is always giving me gifts that are perfect but I just can't think of any good ideas.

She has recently moved out of home with 3 friends to live on campus for university so ideas for her room would be great too!

Please don't say negative things or imply that if I was that close with her I wouldn't be asking strangers etc.

Thanks for your help :)

Answer
A perfect idea would be to turn a family photo into a work of art she can hang in her room on campus rather than just a photo! I have used this company many times and they have been great: http://www.lovecustomart.com plus it is free shipping, you can have it delivered to her door and there is a 20% discount at the moment for Mother's day!

Thank you so much.

Puzzle books, mini handheld games (you can buy them at the Dollar Tree or at Wal-Mart for a dollar), coupons for free kid's meals at restuarants, stickers, cool school supplies (sparkly pencils, different shaped erasers, mini notebooks), granola bars and fruit snacks, bookmarks, stamps, lip glosses, cute little trinket boxes, or cheap kid's DVD's are some ideas. Gift bag ideas for children's birthday?

luvmytwins

I'm having a birthday day party with my sister for her son (will be 4) and my boy/girl twins (will be 3) at a place where the party is surrounded by music. It's mostly going to be our family at the party so we wanted to make something special for our family to take as a reminder of the party...I thought of the idea of taking empty baby food jars and making them into candles with the kids pictures glued to the jars. I like the idea but I want something that looks nice and something that specifically has something to do with the kids. Any ideas?

Answer
Why don't you take a picture of the complete group / or just all kids during the birthday party and put this photo into a photo snow globe afterwards? See here, but you can get the snowglobes some other places, too. They are around 4-5 $. http://snowdomes.com/

While I like the ideas with photos glued on the jars I am not sure whether this comes out well when you light the candles. It should be something the light can shine through and it probably won't shine through the photos, if you know what I mean.

Good luck!

Birthday gift ideas for a guy?

aoshi_0514

Any good and sensible gift ideas to give to a 24 year old guy friend (turning 25)?
He likes solid color polos. And the yankees.
PS. The guy is not my boyfriend. I'm thinking of getting him men's fragrance (gift set) OR a Lacoste polo.

Answer
You're lucky to know a couple of his preferences. Either
sound good. But usually you don't give clothes to a guy friend.
Or cologne either, both are considered too personal. And more for a boyfriend, than a plain friend.
That's another reason Borders sells books. And shops
sell sporting goods LOL. Maybe you can think of something
less on the personal side and get him something more
related to his sports teams or a sport he likes to play. Some-
thing more in the line of fun for him, rather than something he
can 'wear'. Sometimes a personal gift can give the wrong
idea to the person receiving the gift, so you don't want to
give the wrong impression. Give it more thought. You're bound to come up with something terrific!

what are some good 21st birthday gift ideas for a guy?

Q. I already came up with a nice watch but it seems like I have everything already. I have an xbox, wii, iphone, mac laptop, gaming chair, nice clothes. What can I ask for and what are some really cool watches? Like in the price range of 500 to 1000 dollars.

Birthday gift Idea(for my Man)?

/\/\ /-\ $

Hello everyone. My husband's birthday is nearly close and I'm still thinking of what can be as a good, new, surprised, memorable and cool gift :(
Please help me with your creative Ideas

Answer
As long as he is not a felon get him a pistol and you 2 go to the shooting range together. i bought one just for home protection and at first my wife hated the idea. Once i took her to the range she fell in love with it and now we go to the shooting competition together. Good stress relief for her as well. Who is going to forget about the birthday their wife bought them a gun?

I need good birthday gift ideas for my man...?

Lady

I wanna get him something fun and cool and I can spend whatever within limitations....I want some guy advice on cool gifts that you would like.

Answer
Not a guy, but I can share some ideas that my husband has liked. Electronics are always good. One year I got him an IPOD video. This year he wanted accessories to allow him to use his IPOD at the pool. I found a really cool device that has speakers and makes the IPOD waterproof.
Of course, it depends on his interests or hobbies. For a golfer, there are always new golf items. For a videogamer, there's always new games and accessories.
A cool watch is also always a great idea.
Good luck! :-)

Birthday celebration and gift ideas?

Rosy

Hi,
It is my best friend's birthday next week and I want to surprise him. I don't want to have a surprise party because he doesn't like to be the center of attention and to avoid embarrassment. I just want him to have a good time and to make him feel special.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make his day special without too many people involved? Also, I do like him a lot which he knows. I am planning to bake him a birthday cake. Any more ideas?

Thanks.
I forgot to add, he is going to be 29.

Answer
Well since he is going to be 29 that means he is very mature and a surprise party probably won't be something he would like to much especially since he does not like being the center of attention. How about if you do something private with him. You could take him out to see a play that showing. (if he is into stuff like that) You could also take him to the beach or the river to go swimming and have lunch. You could invite a couple of his friends to go along with you guys and just spend the day together

As far as a gift is concerned you should try shooting for something homemade a fun. You could get a plain- tshirt and decorate it yourself with things he likes to say. You could make him a gift basket of his favorite candy, or make a mixed cd of songs he loves. Here are more homemade gift ideas you can check into for inspiration http://www.giftgrease.com/homemade-gifts.html You can also look at these birthday gift ideas to see if he may like something on this list http://www.giftgrease.com/birthday-gift-ideas.html This is all I have for now. Hope this helps. Good Luck gift-shopping.

Birthday gift idea???

cami b

My daughter is turning 16 in a few weeks, I lost contact with her thanks to her dad, she found me an we been texting each other for a few weeks. Her birthday is coming up and I dont know what to get her, it cant be big, I'll have to leave it at her school, its the only way I can give it to her. What are 16 year old girls into??? Please help

Answer
If you are 'sneaking' her a gift due any type of legal custody issues, I would advise you NOT to do this to her. No one can 'make' you lose contact of your own flesh and blood. The best gift would be legal action to begin proper communication. Anything else will send her the wrong ideas about how real relationships work. If this is NOT the case, a 'small' sized gift would be anything electronic and the add-ons that go with it. Think iPod.

Any good birthday gift ideas?

sz10ai29

I've been seeing this guy for about a month and his birthday is coming up. He doesn't want too serious of a relationship, but I really want to get him something for his birthday. It needs to be something not intimidatingly serious, but something somewhat significant. Something he'll really like, but not feel like he owes me anything. Something fun, sweet, sexy, but not mushy romantic.

Answer
No stress hat http://www.cafepress.com/GeoChemBio.551005695 and gym bag: http://www.cafepress.com/GeoChemBio.551005698
Nice gift is an object associated with what YOU LIKE (rather than he likes) because when using it heâll associate it w you. For example, cute throw pillow (benefit in that his parents may appreciate it) , for example cute owl throw pillow http://www.cafepress.com/GeoChemBio.525022325
Matching T-shirts are also fun, for example, for you:
http://www.cafepress.com/GeoChemBio.528414849 and for him http://www.cafepress.com/GeoChemBio.528414869
this way youâll get present not only for him but also for you, which is great

1 year old baby boy birthday present?

Shauni

My friends son is turning 1 soon! I can not go overboard on the gift, but I would like to actually get him something useful/nice! But i honestly have no clue what to get him!

What would you recommend?
If you get a Saving's Bond for someone, what information do you need?

And, would the parents be able to cash it?
(Not that I do not trust my friend, just if I did this I would want to make sure HE got it!)

And does the child have to be at least 18 to cash it??

Answer
If you decide not to go for the saving's bond, I have another cute idea: for boys, I especially like the idea of a birthday train. This is a table decoration to get out every birthday. Each year you can add another wagon / candle to your train. We have a zoo parade like this and my kids always love to have this on the table for their birthdays. You can look at it here: http://www.best-baby-gifts.com/1st-birthday-gift.html

Answer
Can you find paracord or something similar? http://www.homemade-gifts-made-easy.com/paracord-lanyard.html#axzz1XdTCMGLg

If you also are okay with technology, specifically printing photos from the computer - try these magnets with interchangeable heads. http://www.homemade-gifts-made-easy.com/personalized-fridge-magnets.html You could make everyone in your family into robots.

This is stuff I know you can get at a dollar store - to make "hillbilly wine glasses" - http://www.hometalk.com/activity/111138 Make sure you use glass glue if you can find it.

Or get a cup hook, a piece of wood, a string and a nail. Twist the cup hook into the top, and nail the string to the bottom. On the wood put these instructions:
Weather Forecast Station
Piece of string nailed to a block of wood. Include instructions:
â¢string curling: hot
â¢string wet: raining
â¢string hard to see: foggy
â¢string white: snowing
â¢string smoking: lightning strikes
â¢string moving: windy
â¢string still: not windy
â¢string missing: hurricane, or thieves about

I got this from http://www.homemade-gifts-made-easy.com/gag-gifts-to-make.html

Or do you know what a Jacob's Ladder optical illusion toy is? You know, those blocks of connected wood that if you hold them up they unstring in an intriguing way. You can make them out of chocolate! Here's how: http://www.homemade-gifts-made-easy.com/jacobs-ladder-toy.html

Something different to do for 6 yr old girl birthday?

julz

Trying to think up something unique for my little girl. The last couple of years we rented out the local gymnastics place, Mc'ds etc. It seems harder and harder each year to come up with something. It just seems like you get more of a turn out when you hold "exciting" birthday parties where parents feel comfortable dropping them off. I've got another month to plan, but it comes quick. Any good ideas?
Kim, that sounds fun except they have a horse already in the back yard! lol, I'd love to take them to Chuck e CHeese, but we live too far away, mabye I"ll convince her to actually stay at home and have a party!
Ok Kim, but do you do any housework? Babysitting?Move on in and you can ride the horses all day! lol

Answer
Well, when I was born to - my goodness NOW - an ideal bd gift would involve art or horses. Since she's still a bit young, maybe a western-style pony ride mixed with hayride out in the country with hotdogs grilled over an open fire would be fun? 6 may still be young, but I love creating great memories! I'd pull some extra parents to help, making sure that the kids don't get too excited and burn themselves or fall off the wagon...

Looks like your daughter has a great mom!

I need some ideas for a birthday gift - 5 year old twins boy and girl?

Nicole

do you have any ideas?
i need to order it online with delivery and i want a gift whats super surprising and awesome =)
oh...and where can i order balloons cheap for delivery?
thank you =)

Answer
It really just depends what they are into. Here are a few ideas that my 5 yr. old niece has liked:
1. big arts/crafts sets (like make your own jewelry, stepping stone, painting, etc.)
2. outside toys if it's warm where they live- balls, jumpropes, tennis raquets, etc.
3. model kits for the boy if he likes building (cars, dinosaurs, radios, etc.)
4. crystal growing kits
5. educational video games like Leap Frog's Leapster (those are huge hits but pricier!)
6. bikes
7. train set for the boy (Thomas the Train is huge)
8. kids table w/chairs for them to sit at
9. kids little sofa/chairs that fold out for sitting & playing
10. a big kids kitchen set w/pretend kitchen
11. a large dollhouse
12. electronic reading systems like Tag/Leap Frog
13. Fisher Price's Cool School computer
14. computer games

this is a small list but hopefully it will spark some ideas for you! not sure about the balloon delivery- maybe try a local flower shop?

70th Birthday Ideas for Dad?

A

My dad is turning 70, yes 70, next Tuesday and I have yet to get a gift. I'll be leaving for college in half a year so I thought about getting something for him that is a token of my gratitude because he's a single parent and God knows I haven't been the easiest teenager to raise. So any ideas? Something that could be made or bought or modified?

Answer
Happy 70th Birthday to your Dad! Wow!!

A scrapbook may be a good idea. If you can get pictures of him through out his life, you could "interview" him and include his memories and thoughts and stories. You could also get stories from other members of the family to include. Or instead of making it a scrapbook of his life, you could make one of his cherished family members from when he was young Or you could make it about how he has affected your life. Either way, it's the stories and memories are what will truly make this a very special gift.

Remarkable Memories designs scrapbooks with photos and memoriabilia provided by you and has it printed, bound into a photobook and shipped directly to you or you can just purchase the digital files and have it printed on your own. Check out RMScrapbooks.shutterfly.com or RMScrapbooks.blogspot.com for ideas or help putting this together.

70TH birthday party theme ideas?

NONILADY

I'm looking for a unique birthday party idea for my very spry father. All of his siblings live more than 6 states away and aren't in the best of health so this will be a party with children, grandchildren and friends. He has a great sense of humor and is very sentimental and I am looking for something that will be capstone of his wonderful life so far. Any help would be welcomed.

Answer
Someone else on y/a had the idea of giving her father a box of fun gag gifts because he had a great sense of humor and she wanted all the guests to laugh when he opened them...but she didn't know how to pull it off:

My suggestion was to print off this song by the legendary Julie Andrews (which was written for her 69th birthday) and pass it out to all the guests to sing to her father....and THEN he could open up the box of gag gifts and have it labeled "My New Favorite Things"....here are the lyrics>>>

One of the musical numbers she performed was 'My Favorite Things' from the legendary
movie 'Sound Of Music'.
Here are the lyrics she used:

(Sing It!) -
If you sing it, its especially hysterical!!!

Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd
that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores.

Your theme for his party could be simply "My Favorite Things"....and make the party all about him and what fads or favorite things he took a liking to over the years--and you could throw in some new ones :D.

best friend 16th birthday gift ideas?

J B

budget $40

anyone have ideas about what i should give my best friend for her birthday. like gift/take her somewhere. something original/fun. she surprised me by taking me to the britney spears concert. ideas please

thanks!

Answer
Well if she took you to a bs concert you should splurge a bit on her gift.I went to the concert too and the cheapest ticket was $98.I usualy spend about $50 on bff bday gifts and esp since this is sweet 16 maybe u should spend a bit more?just a suggestion :)

anyway if shes girly buy her juicy jewlery the cheapest come around 40.If not a nice bottle of perfume would do too.Your best bet is to get her some sort of a makeup palette, lotions, good lipgloss, diff OPI nail polishes and that kinda good girly stuff. She'll deff love it. Mix up diff beauty things and put it in a pretty birthday bag or a tote if u buy her one.

if shes not girly get her a music cd that you know she'll like or a book in her interest. since she's your best friend the sweetest thing you can do is get a few pictures of you guys and buy one of those frames where you can fit a couple of pictures (in the same of diff sizes) and put pictures of you guys in there.my best friend did that last year for me along with candy and a cd.it was deff the best gift i ever got bc it had meaning.i <3 it.

good luck and try the picture frame idea :)

Cheers!

Hosting a 40th birthday party at my home - any ideas?

Missy J

I am hosting a 40th birthday party at my home. It will be around 8-12 women. It is during the day. I would like to have some entertainment. I was thinking spa or pychic. Any recommendations for Long Island? Any other ideas? Thank you in advance.

Answer
I think a Spa party is always a great idea for women.

Some other ideas:

"I'm in the Mood for Spirits" -- hire a palm or tarot card reader, handwriting analyst. Decorate with signs of the zodiac, crystal balls and beads. Pull out the ouija board!

"Welcome to the Kasbah" -- hire someone to teach your guests how to belly dance. Decorate by throwing large pillows around. Have a basket full of large chiffon scarves in brilliant colors for guests to don as they practice their belly dancing moves. Serve food such as hummus, baba ghannouj, tabouleh, pita bread etc.

"Unleash Your Creative Self" -- set up tables with old newspapers and magazines, glue, scissors and pieces of cardboard. Have each guest create a collage that reflects the birthday girl. Put them all in a binder and you've just created a very special gift for the birthday girl!

My friend is into fashion, art, and girly things. I don't want to get her a gift card because to me that doesn't really show any thought on the gift. What should I get her? I wanna get her something really good!

Answer
a girly artsy girl with a fashion sense??? cool :P

personally id get her something that would show i really know her..

get her something tht involves the three characteristics.. like a jean decorating kit or something like that.. or get something that is just one of the three like some paints and paper and stuff... or that new purse shes been DYING to get (hypothetically speaking of course:P) just try to make it personall... a giftcard basically says.. i dont know you well enough to buy something that i know you'd love(unless thts the case.. then go for teh giftcard)

another great idea is an inside joke you share with her.. like me and my friend saw sydney white together and LOVED it.. while we were watching the movie we ate sweedish berries...
so i bought her teh movie and some sweedish berries and added a bunch of jokes i knew she would appreciate , get and love..

i hope that helps :)

What to get for a friend as a gift?

Q. One of my dear friends who lives in Sydney had her 18th birthday last month, and I couldn't send her anything because I don't really know how the system works in my country... but now my cousin is here for a visit and is going back to Sydney sooon so I want to send my friend something ? Any suggestions? She likes to read so I was thinking a book, but I don't read much and knows nothing about good books... and plus I think Sydney doesn't lack anything that we have here, so I'm out of ideas =s

Answer
I think you should consider getting her a souvenir of your country if you find something you believe she will cherish ...
If you consider a book, it would be good to get a clue of what type of reading she likes, then you could get some tips from a bookstore seller and find out if she has or not the book of your choice.
For a girl, in my opinion, a music box is a nice gift ...
Good hunting for you ...

What are some birthday present ideas I could buy for my boyfriend?

Sweetie

Friday is his birthday and I'm thinking about buying him perfume. Will he love that?
What should I give him instead?
We've been together for 3 months he always buy me gifts but this will be my first present from me to him so I want something special. Please give me ideas what men like!!

Answer
What kind of things is he into? Don't just buy him something randomly because it seems all guys like it. Surely after 3 months you must have some idea of what kind of things he likes so just go from there. Make it special. If I had to make a suggestion though, you should make him some cookies or something. Good luck. Chin up. Smiles. :)

So my friend's birthday is next week and I can't think of a good birthday gift idea. We're both tall girls and I wanted to maybe get a funny gift that alludes to that but I've got nothing. I don't mind making something either.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

If she has a pandora bracelet, give her a giraffe charm. I'm tall, and that's something my mom got me last year for christmas. Anything involving a giraffe works.

Since your mom is a gardening lover, grow tents are the good choice for you to send your mother as the birthday gift. A grow tent offers a contained, controlled micro-environment to nurture the seedlings for the budding hobbyist.

2)A picky 9-yr old sister(something huge and affordable)
3)A outgoing and energetic grandma that likes to collect everything especially dolls)
4)My 2 friends that i work at the library with(ones a rocker boy and the others a christian girl)
5)The elders at the library(something simple, something that they can put on their desk maybe)

Answer
1) Make her a blanket that she can keep on the back of the couch. If you go to a fabric store or Walmart you can get fleece anywhere from 2.00 and up. Then just fringe the edges. You can be as creative as you want. Then grab a mason jar some epsom salt, food coloring and concentrated liquod potpouri (in a scent she would like) mix the salt with a few drops of food coloring and scent. (not to much on the color or scent, it only takes a little bit) Mix it in a bag until the color and scent are mixed well with the salt. Pour into the jar and tighten with lid. Add a small piece of material and ribbon to make it cute and add the tag- Add a handful to a hot bath for a relaxing break. For the third gift, make her a homemade gift card for a couple peaceful bath time breaks. That should make her happy.
Cost 10.00-15.00
2) Make her a photo board. Grab a thin piece of board. Something that is like 3ft by 3ft. But very thin. Just a little thicker than cardboard. Put something you can stick tacks in. Cover it with a thin layer of batting, and her favorite color of matierial. Then take some cute cloth ribbon and run it back and forth to make a criss cross shape (like tic tac toe, or a chess board # kind of design.) Then tack the ribbon in place with cute little tacks. Start her out with a disposable camera. Then help her arrange the pics when they are developed. She can add her school friends and other photos.
Cost 10.00

3)You can make Grandma a mop doll. Their really easy.
You can get the mop and the pattern at most fabric shops. She will love it. I made a few of them. The more creative you are the nicer they are.
cost 10.00-15.00

4) Get them stockings of goodies. You can make them special for each
Cost 10.00

5)Since you see them daily (most of them right) Make a big plate of cookies one day and some punch. Give them each a card telling them merry christmas.
cost 15.00

Hope some of it helped.

Birthday gift for a 5 year old boy?

Kris H

I am going to a double birthday party this weekend for the 2 year old girl I babysit and her 5 year old brother. I already have the 2 year old's present picked out, but I have no clue what to get the 5 year old. He loves video games, but his mom has been trying to get him to play outside more so something for outdoor play would be nice. Does anyone have any ideas on what a 5 year old boy would like to play with?

Answer
Five year old boys are very into super heros. Anything Spiderman, Batman, even Star Wars related is typically a hit. Transformers and action figures are good, too. Board games are good for rainy days and family game nights. The 5 yr. old I nanny for is obsessed with the games Sorry!, Trouble, and Sequence for Kids.

As far as outside stuff, you could do beach themed items, sand building items, sidewalk chalk, scooter, tennis racket and ball, basketball, soccer ball....Target has a couple of great "outdoor geared" aisles in the toy section. Check there for some more ideas.
