What are some ideas for a 30th birthday dinner party?

Jocelyn

My sister is turning 30 on Jan 1 !! We are planning to have a small dinner party at a local restaurant. What should the dress code be? Should we play games? Basically how does it go?!

Answer
A little birthday party for your sis, how nice!!!

If you're having a sit-down dinner in a restaurant, try to get a private room... IT A MUST! Have a pic of your sister blown up and have all the guests sign it. One fun activity sure to help everyone get into the fun is charades. Yes...CHARADES! Or you can do this...

The Icebreaker game,
~The "No" Party Game ~
* Each guest is given a lei (or a cool pin) when they arrive and is instructed to put it on.
*The goal of the game is to collect as may leis as possible by stealing/winning them from other guests. To do this, you must get another guest to say the word "no." Yep, that simple.
*To get a guest to say the word "no," the players must ask questions or make statements which would make the player give a negative answer. If a player (the answerer) forgets to go around the word "no", he or she must give their lei to the person who got them to say it (the asker).
*If you have lost your lei, you may continue to play, ask questions, and collect leis.
*The winner is the person who has collected the most leis by the end of a predetermined period. They can win a prize if you wish, such as a bottle of wine or store-brought gift, even giftcard is ok.

Note:You can choose whether or not to allow the word "know" to be used for this game-- both ways are fun. It's pretty interesting to see the lengths lei-less players will go to get leis from winning players-- especially as the game progresses. The hilariously convoluted things your guests will say in order to keep from having to say the word "no" make this one of the best icebreaker games for small groups.

Now Party getting into groove...
~Message Under a Plate~
Summary and Supplies: This is one of the easiest free party games to liven things up around the dinner table. All you need is a bit of imagination, a pen, and some small strips of paper. (Or, if you prefer more elegant dinner table games, some blank business cards or card stock and a printer-- you can do this on the computer). The Game: Write or print a different phrase on each of several small pieces of paper. Place one card under each of your dinner guests' plates. Make the phrases usable but strange. Ex: "I am a space cowboy," or "Have you tried ostrich eggs?" Before dinner, ask everybody to read the card under their plate-- they're not to read it aloud or share its contents with anybody. Instruct your guests to use their phrase or question as naturally as they can in conversation. You can decide to make this a race-- whoever manages to use their phrase last loses. Or it can be a competition between guests. The goal is for each guest to figure out when another guest is using an assigned phrase. If they're able to slip it into conversation naturally without anybody noticing, they win. You can also choose to assign guests several phrases-- increase them in difficulty as they go along.

Oh no I'm full and now we gotta play...
~The Memory Game~
Summary and Supplies: This is a simple one to play around the dinner table-- but more difficult than it sounds. All you need to play this is a decent memory. The Game: One guest is chosen to begin by saying something they "bring to the party" (doesn't have to be true). Example: "I went to a party and brought a bouquet of flowers." The next guest must add another item to the previous guest's item. Example: "I went to a party and brought a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of peach schnapps."
This goes around the table, and each person must list off all the items, then add their own. Players can generally go on for a surprising amount of time.

The end.. Have a great times...

As for dress code be casual, if you're still not sure ask the restaurant for advice. PS. Make Reservation ASAP... or you'll regret it.

Answer
Found this, Should be helpful:

Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Active Aries is always looking for ways to stay in shape, particularly during the holiday season... so athletic equipment is usually a good choice. People born under this sign are also fond of the color red, so a cranberry scarf or a scarlet hat could win their favor. If romance is in the air, let Aries know that you put his or her needs first. Buy tickets for two to a sporting event you loathe... or a CD by an artist you can't stand... to win big points with your favorite Ram.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus appreciates any gift that appeals to his or her sensual side. A box of gourmet chocolates, a richly colored tapestry or a soft cashmere blanket are all great options for Bulls. This sign also enjoys having money to play with, so a gift certificate to their favorite store is a welcome option. Always remember that quality is more important than quantity â Taurus would rather have a small bottle of expensive cologne than a carafe of the cheap stuff.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Quick-witted Geminis enjoys gifts that appeal to their sizable intellects. A challenging book is always welcome, as is a magazine subscription. This sign rules the hands, so some scented hand lotion or a sparkling ring might delight. Geminis also love to entertain, so a set of glassware might fit the bill. If you want to splurge on a special Twin, give them the latest cell phone or PDA, so they can keep in touch with their gazillion friends.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Sentimental Cancer loves gifts that have personal meaning. Handmade items always delight, whether it's a finger painting, angora sweater or mincemeat pie. This sign also has a special affinity for silver â a monogrammed hand mirror or picture frame would be very well received. Since Crabs have an affinity for liquids of all kinds, a special bottle of wine, a fancy cappuccino maker or a shiny tea kettle are also good possibilities. And don't forget that these Moon children love the domestic arts â a cookbook specializing in comfort food is another sure winner.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Lions love gifts that make them look and feel terrific. Hair accessories, cosmetics and grooming items are all good choices for this image-conscious sign. Leos love drama, and enjoy presents that involve a bit of flair. Opera tickets, gold jewelry or animal print lingerie are right up this cat's alley. Leos also love to gamble, so a sheaf of lottery tickets or a weekend getaway to the casino could make them purr with delight. When shopping for clothing, remember that Lions have a special affinity for red, gold and purple.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Virgins love practical gifts...so avoid dust-catching baubles. A bread-making machine or a power drill would be equally welcome. These folks are also known to pride themselves on their impeccable appearance. Scented soaps, lotions and shampoos made by an earth-friendly company might be just the ticket. Virgos are also incredibly organized and might appreciate a good watch or a leather-bound date book. Or try a health-conscious basket of organic foodstuffs.

Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Librans have a special affinity for music, and always appreciate a good CD to add to their voluminous collection. If you want to do something really special for a Libran friend, splurge on a two concert tickets â this sign hates to do anything alone. Born beneath the sign of the scales, they also need plenty of balance in their lives, so a pair of candlesticks or bookends might appeal. If you're still stumped for ideas, have a lavish bouquet of red roses delivered accompanied by a loving handwritten note.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpions are secretive by nature and enjoy gifts that obscure their appearance in some way. A pair of designer sunglasses, a filmy scarf or a slouchy hat are all great choices for this sign. These mystery-lovers also enjoy moody, atmospheric stories. A collection of film noirs on DVD are sure to go over well with your favorite Scorpion. The rumors concerning this sign's sexual appetite are happily true, so seductive lingerie would get plenty of use. Since Scorpions also like to get beneath the surface; a gift certificate for a deep-cleansing facial will be appreciated.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
As far as Archers are concerned, half the fun of getting gifts is ripping them open! If Sag doesn't like a present, though, he or she will tell you outright. Avoid awkward scenes this holiday season by giving this outdoor enthusiast some camping equipment. Hiking boots or a water-proof parka would also be appropriate. These animal lovers adore any gift associated with their pets. A calendar filled with pictures of dogs or horses is sure to elicit a big smile. Finally, you can always feed this sign's wanderlust with a comprehensive atlas.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Career-oriented Capricorn always enjoys gifts that will boost their job status. A leather laptop carrier or monogrammed briefcase would be welcome. Contrary to popular belief, though, Goats aren't all work and no play. This sign is blessed with a wicked sense of humor, so try the BBC's "The Office" series on DVD. Capricorns also love luxurious presents they'd never buy for themselves, like a silk bathrobe.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
You never know what this unpredictable sign will be doing from moment to moment â one week it's skydiving and the next it's yoga! Still, this quirky sign always appreciates technological gadgets, whether it's an all-region DVD player or an iPod Nano. If you'd like to choose something a little more personal, why not make a photo album detailing all of your exploits with the Water-Bearer? Aquarius may not show it, but they harbor a special fondness for their friends. Still stumped for ideas? A basket filled with brand new socks is both weird and practical enough for this sign, which rules the ankles.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
These mystics love gifts of all kinds, but especially ones that help them escape the harsh realities of life. A bottle of champagne, a kaleidoscope or a book of fairy tales will appeal to your Fishy friends. And because Pisces is a Water sign, it's a good bet they'll appreciate bath salts, foaming cleansers and shower gels. If you'd like to give something really special, a digital camera will make a bit hit with this natural-born photographer. Looking for a romantic gift? Choose a gilt-edged volume of love poetry.

Cheers!

my moms 50th birthday is coming up. . ideas for gifts she'd like ?

snoop d

she likes reading books, she likes romantic comedy movies and stuff like that. . . what would be an ideal gift.

Answer
If you really want to give her something she would use and like, try a manicure or massage. It's something for HER and most women love that kind of thing!
Gifts for women can be a challenge simply because of their various interests and hobbies. Women 50-65 years old can especially be challenging as this time in their life can be different from woman to woman. Many women at this age are preparing to retire or have retired, becoming grandmothers or are already grandmothers, and enjoying their womanhood at this stage in their lives. So finding the perfect gift may just take a little preparation and even a little research. Below I have provided a few ideas and options to help you get started shopping for that special woman in your life whether it be your mother, grandmother or wife.
Gift Idea #1: Many women at this age enjoy collecting photos of their family and friends. A photo album, scrapbook or even picture frames are always nice gift ideas. Adding a photo of your family will make her day even more. If she does enjoy scrapbooking, consider giving her scrapbook supplies such as decorative paper, stickers, glue, and other small embellishments.
Gift Idea #2: Clothing is always a nice gift to receive. Consider buying your special lady a new robe or a new set of pajamas. Many women don't think about shopping for themselves. So a gift like this will show that you care. Slippers or even a blanket are also great gifts to consider.
Gift Idea #3: A vacation just might be what the woman in your life needs. If she has just retired and is looking for a way to unwind after years of work, consider booking her a getaway with some friends of hers. Many cruise lines cater to this age group, and the options are very affordable.
Gift Idea #4: Books are another option if she is wanting to relax and enjoy herself. It has probably been awhile since she has sat down and allowed herself to read a good book. Consider a title by her favorite author or even a historical book of the area she grew up in so she can enjoy fond memories of her childhood.
Gift Idea #5: Give your special woman a spa package as a gift. Taking a day to pamper herself will make her feel extra special and renewed. A simple package could include a facial and a manicure, or you could go all out with the works of a massage and a wrap.
Gift Idea #6: Find out what kind of hobbies she likes. If she enjoys gardening, give her a gift basket full of gardening goodies such as seeds, new tools, sunscreen, a knee pad, and a gardening book. If she likes to knit, buy her some new yarn and a new pattern book. If she likes to cook, consider a gourmet gift such as a new cookbook, new cookware, or even a cooking class she has always wanted to try.
Gift Idea #7: Gift cards might be a good gift for your lady. If she has a tight budget or a fixed income, the extra support in gift cards are sure to show you care. Consider stores like grocery stores, department stores, gas cards, and even the movies. This allows her to buy what she needs and enjoy herself on occasion also.
Gift Idea #8: Consider having a family get together as a gift to the woman in your life who is 50-65. Chances are family members are spread out, and time together might be uncommon. Spending the day together doing an outing or making a special meal may be the perfect gift of quality time.
Other gift ideas that might be the perfect gift depending on her interests include: candles, exercise equipment, a collection of their favorite songs, a journal, perfume or bath products, a new camera, and flowers.

my firedns son is turning 9 next week. he is into martial arts, and video games. but he still plays toys and stuff too. what would be a good thing to get him? any ideas, but not too expensive obviously. thanks

Answer
Birthday gift for a 9-year old boy:

1. A roll of Mentos and two 2-liter bottles of Diet Coke (once is never enough!!!)

2. An empty water bottle, a box of baking soda, and a jar of white vinegar.

3. A box of borax, a bottle of Elmer's glue, a bottle of water, and a ziploc bag.

4. A box of cornstarch and a bottle of water.

5. Directions on how to use all these GREAT gifts! (Directions are as follows:)

Do all of these experiments outside:
1. Dump the Mentos in the Diet Coke and BACK UP!
2. Put some baking soda in the water bottle, add some vinegar, and BACK UP!
3. Mix 1 tablespoon of Borax with 1/2 cup of water, mix 1/4 cup glue with 1/4 cup water, pour both mixtures into ziploc bag and knead until it turns to goop. Gross out your friends with it!
4. Mix cornstrach with a small amount of water until it turns to goop. Try to pick it up; try to squeeze it; try to jab it with your finger.

It sounds unusual, but I guaratee it will be the best gift he gets! He will remember it for years to come. I had a "Science Experiment Party" for my son's birthday and I already have kids at school asking me when his next birthday party will be (ummm ... in 10 months!) I've assembled kits like this for kids' gifts (I measure everything out into labled baggies and put it all in a canvas bag from the craft store with directions for the experiments- you can add saftey goggles and an apron if you like), and even though the moms complain a little, even they have to admit how cool and fun they are!!

Birthday gift ideas for my mom?

My mom's birthday is this Sunday and I want to make her something because that is what she prefers. She enjoys bubble baths, gardening, church, and she LOVES sweets. I have about $20 so I can go out and buy the stuff needed to make anything. I really would like some ideas for desserts to make her that are creative and not something like cake. Thank you!

Answer
What I do for my mom is buy a basket at the dollar store or walmart and then fill it with a bunch of her faves. Like lotion and bath oils. Tea lite candles, chocolate and what ever else I can think of. For desert not sure what to recommend that you make. But, there's this site I love www.allrecipes.com they have oodles of ideas. You can even go to the ingredients section and type in the stuff you want and do not want in the recipe and it will bring up recipes for you. Have fun shopping :)

Supernatural gift heredity!!!?

Q. ok i know this may sound wierd but i think i inherided (sp?) from my mother! when my grandma died wierd things start happening!heres the story:
my grandma was in the hospital and we had just got a call that she just had a stroke or something like that in miami (i live in florida and my cousins live in miami) before the call the closet shelf in my sisters room fell in the middle of the night too. she we packed up in drived to miami.on the way there our car broke down.my mom complained that whenever she looked at her phone it was always 2:11 or 3:11 or 4:11 something 11.when we got there it was already to late. ( really sad too it was a few hours after my birthday too) anyway thats some evidence of why i think this supernatural heredity to be true.my mom also told a story of when in the middle of the night that the vacuum cleaner turned on and it wasnt plugged in anywhere (this was when i wasnt born yet and mom was pregnant with my older sister) the next day she found out that the women that came to her house to help her clean died.next is that my older sister (my family is of 6 i have a mom dad and 3 sister 1 older than me and 2 younger than me ( the younger ones are SO annoying))my older sister always complained that she saw ghosts sense she was around my age 13.she told me of the bold kid up on the roof , a white dog jumping over a large tree , and a little boy watching her in the girls bathroom (this was when the lights went off at her school and she used her phone light ) anyway she bought a ouija board which i used a couple of times and nothing happened (my dad dosnt know and he HATES magical stuff like that) so my mom and my older sister show some type of connection to the spirit realm and im the next oldest women and the house who is 13 and i havent experienced anything unusual. except the times when my tv and fan lamp does a cracking sound when i sleep at night and the times when i went into my sleep paralysis modes (which im used too and not afraid of) oh and that time last night when i smelled paint in my room and i dont paint ( just to let you know a man died in my house i think it ws from old age) well my mom comes from the filopines if that gives any info. well additional notes about me is that i dont have many friends and the ones i do ignore me in the group.im like an outcast in the school and i dont mind.sometimes i feel this rush inside my veins like an animals and i do this wierd thing with my hands that looks like im trying to drag my nails into the table.plus i was thinking of going wiccan and i mediated 2 times in my life and im still trying to continue.i also wrote a poem of angels emotions which is one of my first poems and i just love the dark angels creed too! i LOVE studying parapsychology online.
i forgot to say that i get a little feeling that im an empath because when my friend said she was nervous to sing in front of people i started getting butterflies in my stomache too (i actually hated this girl cause she hitted me a lot in the past) but empaths dont feel a persons smotions AFTER a peron tells them of their emotion thats kinda like a empath in REVERSE and i dont know if this means anyting but my cousin from my dads side( we are connected with my dad and her mom) my cousins eyes change color (its so FREAKY) also my cousin was born a month and a day before me in the same year too.i also heard (eavedropped) my aunt say to my uncle that a baby was born on my grandmas birthday before she died and i was thinking why is my aunt telling uncle this if the baby isnt related to us so i guess the baby IS related to me somehow. GOMENASAI! that took so long and because i said gomenasai from the japanese culture is because im an otaku obsessed with manga and anime :)
i would kindly appreciate it if you guys gave serious answers this really means a lot to me because this is my chance to truly understand parapsychology

Answer
"Going Wiccan?"-- is that anything like "Going Christian" or "Going Jewish?" Wicca is a religion... and I'm not even going to go there except to say that nothing you mentioned is really what makes someone Wiccan, so until you sort out and understand what you're already dealing with, don't go throwing a whole new big topic of a religion on top of it.

Also for now, try to stay away from things like ouija, dark/light angels, magic/spells, etc... deal with one major issue at a time. All of these are too big to throw them all on the table together and sort through them.

The first thing I think you should consider investigating is your natural intuitive abilities and potential.

It's really really hard to follow your post, but you mention a lot of things that are possibly psychic in nature. Which some of us don't believe is supernatural at all (how can anything exist outside of nature? It's actually just things in nature we haven't figured out).

Here's the thing if you want to study the paranormal-- you have to get pre-concieved notions out of your head and try to be objective. You have to be willing to admit that there are coincidences and there is imagnation that gets blown out of proportion.

There are ways to actually measure and experiment with psy abilities-- however, if a hyped- up imagination and a lot of superstitious ideas are part of it, it's not going to give you any real answers. Just more hype.

You have to approach it more like a scientific experiment-- you have to try to rule things out, even if it disappoints you that you discover something was misconstrued.

Parapsychology actually takes many years of study to really understand. Get some books and get reading; there is a whole lot to cover if you plan to ever really understand any of these things and put them into perspective. Look for articles to test and measure psychic abilities.

Avoid sites that jumble things, seem to act like everything you ever experience is probably some true supernatural phenomenon-- they just feed fantasies.

And meditation is an excellent way to develop mental discipline to control and improve psychic abilities-- but twice won't cut it; you need to get into a routine.

My daughters 5th birthday i'm stuck for ideas! Please help!!!?

iampregnan

Hi its my daughters 5th birthday in September and she hasnt that long been at school so knows a few of the kids but i havent had chance to meet the parents and when the kids go back to school they will only be there for about 2weeks before her birthday so i feel a bit stuck, my little girl has one really good friend and i thought about taking her and her friend to local play area - cheeky monkeys / playtowers and then maybe to pizza hut. But i can't help feeling that my little girl should have lots of freinds round on her birthday. I did think that because her bday is on a wed invite a few kids round for a tea party then on the saturday do the play area n pizza thing, what do you think i should do please hlp. oh im 8mnths pregnant so would like it to be something i can do with the kids xx

Answer
tea party sounds great and easy
but don't invite too many friends, she won't really enjoy that at this age

5 or 6 at most

you could, buy the tiny little breads and have her make tiny little sandwiches, the kids would love to make their own little sandwiches

and then you could make hot chocolate and and iced tea( just use a bit of warm water, and they can pretend to be fancy english women

you should get a few fake flowers from the dollar store and or the craft store and let them make a bouquet

get some ribbons too.

and for a gift give the girls a little baby doll, something cheap
no more than 3 dollars even a ceramic doll you get from the dollar store

Any suggestions would be appreciated, Thank you!

Answer
For my little cousin's 1st birthday, I bought her a toddler pool and a bathing-suit to go with it. Actually something usable (not just another toy) and ended up being Multi purpose. The Mom ended up blowing it up and putting it in her playroom she LOVED crawling in and out of it and playing with her babies in it. : )

Birthday gift ideas for 2 year old boys?

natalilly

My cousin's son turns 2 next week, and I have no idea what to buy for his birthday present. Her 4 year old daughter was very easy to buy for last month, but I'm not sure what 2 year old boys like, as everything seems either too babyish for him, or too mature.

He's walking now, and starting to talk, but he seems to just enjoy running around and breaking things and making a racket and hitting his big sister. He's not too interested in cars, or cuddly toys...

Any safe, age-appropriate ideas? Thanks :)

Answer
I would look in the toy aisles at Walmart...look for the age range on the box...you probably want a toy that says 18 months+ or 24 months+ on it.... A lot of them say 3Y+ (3 years) and would be too mature for him (might be due to the small parts also). My son's is turning 2 on April 1st and I can tell you what we got him and what his grandparents got him-

-Fisher-Price The Farmer Says See n' Say
-Little Tikes Tap-a-Tune Drum
-Little Tikes Pop Tunes Big Rocker Guitar
-Playskool Chuck My Talking Truck
-Parents Ready Set Go cars (set of 4)
-Fisher Price Little People Racin Ramps Garage
-Fisher Price Little People Little Movers School Bus
-Little Tikes Butterfly Net Bath Toy
-Little Tikes Jungle Jamboree 2-in-1 Xylophone/Piano

My son is big into music if you couldn't tell so we wanted to expand on his interests!
Your cousin's son might also like these. Or you can go to toysrus.com and browse toys by age.

And what fun things to do at the birthday party...need some ideas.

Answer
Hi: I raised three kids, two girls and one boy. I gave my kids bday parties until age 11- or 12. some fun things for boy parties; think of a theme. Your 6 year old has a favorite sport, cartoon or interest area. Educational themes, verses commercial themes were a favorite of mine. A dollar store or party store in your home town can also be an idea builder. Little boys almost always like dinosausors. For example sake, lets use dinosauors. Plan several activities to keep the party moving. Set a time limit, an hour and a half with 6 little boys can be exhausting, (unless it is like a family barbacue also). Plan an agenda, and it will help you and the kids have a good time. Start the party with an opening activity: free play: in a yard or park with swing set is nice, or playdough at a table, if you must be inside. Once all the guests have arrived get the party going with the first group activity. Kids this age ususally know the drill with what to expect with party games. I was amazed that my 13 year old daughter still wanted to play "drop the clothes pins" in the jar at her bday party. Then move to the next game, toss across, pin the tail on the dinosaur (they seem to love the blind fold), freeze tag. ASk your six year old to help plan his favorite games. Play 3 games then move to the song, blow out the candels, cake and ice cream. 6 yr. old boys are active so cake can turn into a food fight, so keep this short. If they are playing in it, its time for clean up. if you are out side a bucket full of water and paper towell can be a quick fix for sticky hands.
Then move to another game, since they have an overwhellming amount of energy, try an active game of tag, or short 2 on two races, or let them play if they are at the park or back yard. Boys love squirt guns in the summer. Use caution, it seems that there is always one kid in the bunch that is too rough, and someone gets hurt. Kids this age are conditioned to a school bell ringing, so ringing a bell can be very effective when it is time to change activities. Also, a good way to get kids attention is to tell them something like, "I need your eyes up here", or "let me see your eyes". It is a good idea to always communicate 100 times; what the next activity will be, what the plan is, and what you want in behavior, (ie: I want everyone sitting down for cake) Name tags can help tremendously call kids by name. Compliment the kids that are corroperating. (ie: suzie is sitting nicely and ready for cake).Open the gifts if you think the boys can hang in there with a sitting down time. If they are too active, it can be alot to ask little boys to sit still while someone else gets toys. If you are inside, think about having some legos, books, available for the fitgeting ones to have something quiet to do in the back of the room. Let the bday boy give the goody bags as the kids leave. It is a good way to get out of any complaining from kids, (ie: hey, its not fair they have a bigger bag than I do)

Birthday gift ideas for 6 yr old girl?

krt101

My son has been invited to his kindergarten classmates 6th Birthday party and I don't know what to get. Any helpful tips is appreciated. Thanks

Answer
For kids I usually give toys or clothes (especially if they're girls). At this age, girls use their imaginations and loves to pretend-play and to be doctors, teachers, nurses, veterinarians, then you could give a toy doctor/nurse kit or something like so she can play doctor or play school with her ââdolls and stuffed toys. If you want to give clothes, choose a cute cotton dress or a set of blouse and shorts. Ask your son if he knows what she likes, for example, if he knows that she likes to ride a bike, you might consider giving her a helmet with her ââname engraved on it. If she is more into creative style, you can give a crayola kit or melissa and doug kit.

Ideas for HOMEMADE cousin birthday gift?

Missemmers

I have literally two dollars. But anyways, my cousin's birthday is on Sunday (Easter Sunday) and I need a homemade gift idea. We are both girls, she is turning 14 (I think, pretty sure) And she is the kind of person who likes a ton of weird things, doesn't have one big interest and keeps herself hidden most of the time. We have a lot of inside jokes. Like we watched the ASDF videos together, and she likes the one with the doctor and the guy where he throws up rainbows every where. She also has a pet chinchilla that she loves to death. She plays piano, but I don't know if she is passionate about it. She is a vegetarian. Oom, No sports as far as I know, she is in girl scouts. I didn't want to cook her anything since I have to give it to her on Easter all of our smaller cousins and mischievous uncles would eat it, heh heh. I cannot get her to tell me what kind of music she likes, she says she likes everything. So I am making her a mix CD, or at least trying with a lot of genre. I made the cover ASDF themed. I was thinking of making her a shirt to go with the CD, with an Andy Warhol Pop Art of chinchilla, like four pictures of the same chinchilla in a square with different colors. I think she would like that. So if I do that, I have to use my two dollars to buy a blank tee-shirt and hope to find contact paper. I didn't want to do the tee shirt with ASDF cause I don't want people to think she is promoting her lesbianism (she isn't a lesbian, but I don't want people to think she is, what with all the rainbow.) I really can't think of anything. I was thinking possibly themed crayon art, or maybe a collage, but I still need a lot of pictures for that. Possibly something out of clay. She told me her favorite color is orange. It is funny, we are really close, but I hardly know her. Her bedroom doesn't tell much about her, it is kinda little kid themed, like she didn't get rid of kid stuff yet. OOH one time we watched half of the Marble Hornet stuff together, and we got super scared!! We kept trying to re-assure each other he wasn't real and stuff.

Sorry this is so long, I keep a lot of detail in my head, at least I try. I appreciate all of the ideas you give and no idea is a bad one really. So, yeah, thank you in advance.

Answer
Make a homemade card form printer paper and colored pencils. Put the money in the card and the card in a ziplock baggie, seal it tight! Next bake a cake at home, from scratch or store bought, it doesn't matter. After it's cooled cut a square in the bottom big enough for the card but don't cut all the way through, make sure the top looks normal.Place the card inside and slide the square back inside.

Frost the cake and then when you bring it out smash her face in it. It's a birthday surprise and a sweet though.

Birthday gift ideas for dad from a 3 yr old girl?

lady me

So my hubbys birthday is sunday and we dont really have money to spend on gifts but i want some crafty ideas for something that our 3 yr old daughter could do for him?? ANy ideas????

Answer
They're expensive (about $6) compared to other cards, but we love buying the ones that are recordable so you can record your daughter saying, "You're the best! I love you Daddy!" Use a stamp pad to have her put her handprint on the inside cover of the card and date it. If she's working on writing her name, have her attempt that too. It's a great keepsake for him to take to work. We did that for the grandmas for Mother's Day.
How about having her help you cook a favorite treat? My 3 year old loves cooking. If he likes fishing, how about having her paint a bobber or pick out a fishing lure? If he's into sports, how about going to a minor league game together?

Answer
Hhmm. . . Something you can make. . . Something a male teenager likes. . . It really depends on his tastes, but how about:
a cake or his favorite food? a calendar? a charm or chain? a knitted cap, handkerchief, wash cloth, shirt, sweater? a card? a journal? origami? a cd with his favorite music? a dvd with a movie the two of you can watch together? design a shirt for him, if they're any shops that let you put whatever you want on it? if he likes painting and art, then a drawing or a blank art book for him?

Birthday gift ideas for mom?

Bubbles! o

My moms birthday is next month and i always wait till the last minute to get something for her and its always a rushed gift, so this year i wanted to take the time and make something or plan something for her but shes so hard to shop for so i need ideas.

Keep in mind
Im 15 dont have alot of money and need something inexpensive.

She likes crafts, gardening, and stuff like that.
Shes remodeing the house right now so can anyone think of something i can make to help her with that, like decorations that are pretty easy to make? She wants the theme to either be beachy, Japanese cultureish, or wasabi style? Not really sure what that is though...

Im pretty good at drawing but i cant doit without directions, and i cant draw people or actual things just animations and stuff.
Im a good cook so i was already planning on making her breakfast, dinner, and desert.
Oh and i cant sew, so nothing to do with sewing.

So anything you can come up with would be helpful!

BONUS QESTION!

Im also making her a cool handmade ( duh ) card but dont know what to right in it and not good at making up poems so if you have any ideas to what to right that would be great!

Answer
Does she have a Sewing kit? And she likes Crafts right? You could look for a Martha Stewart book for her! That would be perfect for her! Or maybe just a craft book would be nice! You can find them for really cheap on http://amazon.com/
Do you have any siblings? Take a picture of you and your siblings, Print it out, Put it in a picture frame, And your mother will surely treasure that!
Something she could relax with, Such as Lotion, A nice book, anything you think she could relax with. That is what almost all mothers need!
Allot of things that teen's get their moms are things such as nice relaxing c.d.s, A candle, Or maybe even a journal, Even Beautiful Flowers!
Okay, for the remodling house, for a beach theme, You could make a sea in A jar! How you do it is find A wide and big container, Put some water in, And ad one to two drops of food coloring.. Then find some sea-shells and sand. Put it on the bottom of the container. Then find some fake rubber fish. put them in the container, Then make a waterproof mini boat, And then put that it, And then you have a mini sea! It is actually pretty cool! And it is perfect for a beach theme!
Okay, For the remodling house - Japanese. Is there a home store near you? Or maybe just some wood you have? Make a Japansese poster! Go online for some free drawing lessons about how to make a Japanese Culture! You could draw something and make it into a poster! Im sure if it was from you, It would look beauitful! Maybe even something that reminds you of Japense will work!
I think the Breakfast, Dinner and Desert idea is Wonderful!
Does your mom like cofee or Tea or anything like that? You could get her a mug!
Bonas Question:
Dear Mom,
Im so glad that you are my mom! You have always been there for me! You are so caring, Nice, Loving, And Awesome! Thanks for everything you do for me! I love you!
Love,

Hope I helped and happy Birthday to your mom!

My wife's birthday is coming in one week what should I get her she is still in morocco while im working in america? any ideas what I should send her? What would really impress my wife and show her I really love her?
sorry a person from the same country that is of the same sex I feel has advice advantage sorry

Answer
I'm a woman and I'd say....
I'm a Muslimah and I'd say....

Oh! I'm not Moroccan, so I guess that I'm not allowed to answer, eh???

@asker: so how about saying "Moroccan women please, or Moroccan women preferred", instead of completely discriminating against everyone else on Y!A? I'm a Muslimah in sales, who's good friend is Moroccan, and who's been to Morocco, and you are pretty much telling me that I know absolutely nothing about Moroccan women or what they would want because I'm not from there. It's rude and ridiculous, and on the same level as a Shia or Sunni or American or British only question in my opinion. We are all here to help each other... if you aren't ready to accept answers and advice from everyone here, why don't you just go ask your wife what she wants, and stop discriminating against others who aren't just like you?

I need help trying to find the perfect gift?

john

Im try to find the perfect gift for my fiance
for her 18th birthday need some help please

Answer
Gifting a young woman with a day at her favorite spa is a great start to pleasing her. For this purpose, some day spas have gift certificates available for purchase, and you can customize the package the girl receives. She can get anything from a pedicure to a fully inclusive day of pampering. Some spa certificates also include gifts of their own such as baskets that contain bath and body supplies and accessories.

Young women can be tough to shop for, especially if she is an 18-year-old girl who has it all. A quick remedy to this is to purchase a gift card. Gift cards vary greatly depending on what stores they can be used at, their appearance and how much money can be loaded on them. Visa and MasterCard eliminate the restrictions that ordinarily accompany gift cards, by producing prepaid gift cards that can be used anywhere.

Gift baskets are always a favorite with gift recipients because the possibilities are endless when it comes to stuffing them full of goodies. Giftbaskets.com is a great website to check out, to find the perfect gift for the 18-year-old in your life. The baskets can be completely customized and can contain most things that will excite the young woman, including makeup, perfumes, expensive chocolates and much more.

I am grown up woman now but little bit confused in my life.

Answer
Numerology Birthday

With a birthday on the 23rd of the month (5 energy) you are inclined to work well with people and enjoy them. You are talented and versatile, very good at presenting ideas. You may have a tendency to get itchy feet at times and need change and travel. You tend to be very progressive, imaginative and adaptable. Your mind is quick, clever and analytical. A restlessness in your nature may make you a bit impatient and easily bored with routine. You may have a tendency to shirk responsibility. Very sociable, you make friends easily and you are an excellent traveling companion.

Numerology Personal Year 2008 Number: 3

Be enthusiastic in your endeavours. Enjoy your friends, lead an active social life, & enjoy yourself, it is time to have fun with as little responsibility as possible. You must not however, indulge only in superficial activities. Love & romance are here to be experienced & enjoyed with the possibility of marriage or long-term commitment, be careful of pregnancies, particularly if they are not on your list of long-term plans. Concentrate on opportunities for self-improvement, particularly in the area of using any creative talents. Emphasise your ideas involving your creative talents such as acting, singing or writing, (you may surprise yourself). Use your intuition, imagination & inspiration. It is possible for a promotion or recognition in your area of employment, whatever happens will be a sound basis for the future. Numerology Life Path

The number 3 Life Path is one that emphasizes expression, sociability, and creativity as the lesson to be learned in this life. Here we are apt to find the entertainers of the world, bright, effervescent, sparkling people with very optimistic attitudes. A truly gifted 3 possesses the most exceptional creative skills, normally in the verbal realm, writing, speaking, acting, or similar endeavors. The lesson to be learned with a 3 life path is that of achievement through expression. The bright side of this path stresses harmony, beauty and pleasures; of sharing your creative talents with the world. Capturing your capability in creative self-expression is the highest level of attainment for this life path. The characteristics of the 3 are warmth and friendliness, a good conversationalist, social and open. A good conversationalist both from the standpoint of being a delight to listen to, but even more importantly, one who has the ability to listen to others. Accordingly, the life path 3 produces individuals who are always a welcome addition to any social situation and know how to make others feel at home. The creative imagination is present, if sometimes latent, as the 3 may not be moved to develop his talent. The approach to life tends to be exceedingly positive, however, and your disposition is almost surely sunny and open-hearted. You effectively cope with all of the many setbacks that occur in life and readily bounce back for more. It is usually easy for you to deal with problems because you can freely admit the existence of problems without letting them get you down. You have good manners and seem to be very conscious of other people's feelings and emotions. Life is generally lived to the fullest, often without much worry about tomorrow. You are not very good at handling money because of a general lack of concern about it. You spend it when you have it and don't when you don't. On the negative side, a 3 may be so delighted with the joy of living that the life becomes frivolous and superficial. You may scatter your abilities and express little sense of purpose. The 3 can be an enigma, for no apparent reason you may become moody and tend to retreat. Escapist tendencies are not uncommon with the 3 life path, and you find it very hard to settle into one place or one position. Guard against being critical of others, impatient, intolerant, or overly optimistic. Typically, the life path 3 gives an above-average ability in some art form. This can encompass painting, interior decorating, landscaping, crafts, writing, music, or the stage, or all of the above. You are apt to be a happy, inspired person, constantly seeking the stimuli of similar people. Your exuberant nature can take you far, especially if you are ever able to focus your energies and talents.

Love & Blessings

Budgeting?

jane d

I am really tight on money right now and it seems as if EVERY MONTH something comes up-a kids fundraiser-birthday party-etc.etc. and I dont want my kids to miss out on the fun of the birthday party just because mom cant afford to buy an extravagant birthday gift. Any ideas on low priced gifts but are not cheap as in falling apart ? I feel bad being the cheap one at the birthday party but you kind of have to look out foryour kids first. FOOD ON THE TABLE.

Answer
It helps to shop for gifts a few times a year & stock up a bit in advance instead of waiting right before a party.

Use your experience from previous years to estimate your needs and keep a schedule of events.

Keep a list of gift ideas & an inventory of items you have.

1) Shop after Christmas sales & other after season sales to stock up on toys & other gifts.

2) Shop at scheduled sale events. Get on the mailing list & e-mail list of your favorite shops for notices & coupons.

For ex) Bath & Bodyworks has a twice yearly sale on lotions, shower gels, lip balms, etc. so you can stock up on gifts for girls. This store sometimes sends out e-mail coupons too.

The Body Shop has frequent promotions too.

Old Navy has clearance sales about every 3 months. Check the racks for purses, totes, jewelry, tee shirts, etc.

3) Check out local discounters like Tuesday Morning, Ross, etc. for toys. I've seen some great Lego sets, Barbie dolls & accessories @ really low prices @ Tuesday Morning.

Check the book sales racks @ Borders, Barnes & Noble, etc. I've seen some great craft kits, journals, and cute story books on those tables & racks.

4) Stick w/ more traditional toys like board games, Etch-A-Sketch, Play Doh sets, etc. These tend to be lower priced because they are classics and have to compete w/ more modern items like video games.

5) Try to think of gift sets you can create w/ items from discount retailers like Target.

For example, girls would like embellished hair pins, headbands & pony tail holders in a plastic case. You could include a styling brush, a compact mirror & some mini beauty products.

A boy might like a tee shirt w/ his favorite super hero & a few comic books.

As for fund raisers, find other ways to contribute or participate. (e.g. by volunteering to help w/ organization or help publicize the event)

Set a strict limit for the year & track what you spend. Don't feel bad about sticking to your limit either. Just politely decline if you must or if you cannot use anything being offered.

Try to limit your purchase to 1 item per fund raiser & make it a multi-purpose item. For example, buy a roll of gift wrap you can use for b-days and other special occasions.

Selling cookie dough is another typical fund raiser. You can buy 1 tub and then use it to bake cookies for a pot luck or school bake sale. You can make them special by adding sprinkles or drizzling some melted chocolate over them.

You can decide what you want to do for the year and set a policy for yourself. If you think money is going to be very tight - then do not buy anything from fund raisers & to be fair, do not sell anything for fund raisers @ the office. You don't have to explain yourself - just politely decline & know that you won't be imposing on anyone either. Or you can stick to the 1 item per fund raiser & only make a purchase if it's something you can use. Not every fund raiser is a good one.

sfroxygirl

my best friend is turning 16 at the end of the month and i want to make/get/do something special for her! for my 16th, she made me a scrapbook, and i don't want to copy her but i have had a picture frame i've been planning to give her since christmas time. does anyone have any ideas [very minimal budget] that i should do?!

Answer
Decorate the picture frame and insert a nice photo of you two together.

And you could give her a box of random things that will make her laugh like cute plushies (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6154077) or quirky badges (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5961678). And also include her favorite candy, books or a mix CD...

Birthday ideas for my female friend?

ee

My best female friend 23rd birthday is coming up. I asked her what she would like. She said she would like the movie "Pretty Woman" and the music CD "Three days grace". Thought of getting her a card too. So I suppose she knows what she will be getting..so I am thinking of getting those things but I also been wondering about other opinions..what esle would be good for a friend's 23rd birthday? Any ideas?

Answer
go to your local movie theater and get her a gift certificate, or a certificate for bowling or anything fun and or adventurous. I know thats what I would want from a close guy friend...it's fun stuff that you could possibly do together that shows that you care, but isn't crossing the line between friends and more than friends

Birthday gift ideas for my sister/best friend?

Jen

My sister is 6 years older than i am and her birthday is the day after mine, so we celebrate together. We are EXTREMELY close, literally best friends. We are practically the same person, and if it wasnt for our age difference we would swear we were twins ;). Anyways, she will be turning 24 Every year we always get something very personal for each other. In previous years i have made her a frame with us and our other sisters baby picture in it, made her an entire scrapbook, etc. Is there any very unique and personal gift ideas for her?
A little about her: she loves loves the beach, zebra print, shopping, etc. thanks again!
A few more details about us: i am not very artsy, i can decorate, but now draw or paint lol
she is very simple, her house is decorated in beach, and she is getting into cooking, i was considering finding her a one day cooking class to take together
she is also about a month pregnant so i was considering giving us a spa day
any personal gift ideas that can be made are welcome too!

Answer
That is very similar to me and my little sister (except for the close birthdays)! We are also both 6 years apart, and are very close. We do almost everything together. I can't really help too much without knowing what your sister likes, but from what you stated, maybe you can try making something for her again. Nothing makes it more special as when you make it personally yourself. Maybe knit her a scarf, or hat? Or make her a special jewelry box, with zebra print/beach design with sea shells? OR, if you're real artsy, you can try painting a picture on a canvas, so she can hang on her wall! Maybe an ocean scenic view, with two little small figures representing you two on the beach watching the waves.

EDIT: In that case, I think your ideas are already way more than enough! Spa day? Wow, I wish my sister would do something like that for me haha. Way to go, your sister is very fortunate to have someone like you. Spa day is perfect.

16th birthday girls present ideas?!?

Piano

Its my friends 16th birthday tomorrow and i want to get her a present, unfortunly i havent got alot of money and there not much time to go to the shops now as most of them are closed! I want to know what present I can give her? Like for one of my other friends I made a poster/ 16th banner, but i want to do something different? any ideas?!

Answer
My best friend's birthday is coming up too. My gift is actually kind of like a DIY project. It's a mini gift basket filled with goodies. Since you friend's birthday is tomorrow, try and find a bunch of stuff that she might like. For example, food. Everyone likes food. Opened or unopened, doesn't really matter. If it's opened, for example a box of biscuits, pour a couple of biscuits into a Ziploc bag, cut the sealing part off and wrap the top of it up with ribbon or pipe cleaners.
What I did was I got a small basket with a handle, and put candles, hot chocolate, tea, and biscuits inside. Then, I decorated it with ribbon, it looks awesome. :) Basically, it's like one of those gift baskets you get for 20 dollars at a store.

Hope this helps, good luck! :)

Does anyone have gift ideas for a girl's 16th birthday?

joe diddle

The receiver is the sort who has pretty much everything-- she just asks for it and her parents get it. (nice girl though)

My daughter needs a gift for her "Sweet 16" birthday party. Around $20 or just a little more.

Answer
Well I was thinking if it was your daughter, but it isn't, so just buy her a visa gift card. She can go shopping for whatever she wanted but didn't get. Believe me some people who seem to have it all really don't. Or can be somewhat annoyed by the fact that they get lame gifts. Any girl would love to shop so a visa gift card would really do the trick. Or maybe even a subscription to her favorite magazine if your daughter knows what it is?! Hope it goes well, Sexc.

Are there any quilters out there?

threads

Would like the know what quilters are working and share ideas.

Answer
I am pushing to finish a queen size quilt to give to my mother for her birthday in June. I did a block-of-the-month at a local quilt shop and am putting the blocks together in a "on-point" setting with 2" sashing.

My other works in progress:
1. Queen size quilt for my son who is in his first apartment (kit from Joann Fabrics), I am assembling the top.
2. Double size quilt for my spare room bed/ pattern is Diane Webber "Big Blossom Trio" This is cut out and ready to sew.
3. Crib size quilts from "Care bears" panels (2), to be donated to my guild comfort quilt program. These are bordered and ready to layer and quilt.

My other planned projects (have fabric, no action yet):
4. Table runners for my bedroom dressers to match the bed quilt, and runner for SIL for Christmas gift.
5. Memory quilts with fabric acquired on vacations (New Zealand, Caribbean, Hawaii)
6. Crib size quilts for extended family members who are "planning" to start a family soon

And a long list of ideas that might have some fabric already waiting in my stash!

Making a romantic and memorable birthday for spouse on a tight budget..?

candysdarl

okay, we both just moved me around the world to live with my spouse...so i'm a little low in budget for birthday in only two weeks. I know there have to be some pretty clever people out there. want this to be an all day event, just the two of us, maybe visit some family before we come home, but i don't know if they remember her b.d. so i might skip that. i want it to b so cute and special . there is a beach nearby but never know the weather there, i just want to make a slow paced, romantic, fun day with a few gifts and ideas if of places to go that won't scream cheap. I have about 300 to spend. my spouse loluvvies butter creme cake, but nobody sells them, even a fool proof moist cake that is not hard to make, one that i can hide in the freezer for a week and tastes indoorsey and outdoorsey, adventurousgave the age cos it might make a diference betwen bunjie jumping and something else lol. big time.for the end of day would be helpful.. any tips are welcome, from crazy to practical..thanks so much in advanced i am stressed! the reason i need a reasonable day planned is because my money doesn,t go far in new zealand. she's out doorsy, and indoorsy, likes to check out new places, fairly adventerous. loves that cake (noo idea how to make n frost one(, please help me get some ideas. any cute ideas you have done for your mate for birthday? i am veryt hankful for any help at all!

Answer
Well I'm not sure what there is to do in New Zealand and what not. Make her breakfast in bed. Maybe before her birthday take her out to some shops and see what outfits she admires and later go back and buy her one of the sexy outfits she liked and on her birthday have it in a nice box with a bow around it with a note that says something like, dinner at (insert name of nice restaurant) at 7.

Something romantic I did for my fiance, you could do similar...I took a heart shaped box and put a mixture of things in it... some were notes that listed reasons why I loved him.. some were special pictures of us together.. some were little envelopes and inside the envelope I put something I bought/made for him (a cd of songs that reminded me of him)... anyway, fold the notes so she cant see what's written and have the photos and presents in envelopes. Give the box to her like a week before her birthday, and tell her she is only allowed to pick out one thing out of the box each day. So each day leading up to her bday she will either get a love note, picture, or present from the box. Then the ones that are left on her bday, tell her she can pick out one more out of the box on each hour until they are all gone. Then on the final hour of her bday when she notices there are no more left, hand her something really special (bracelet/necklace).
