Foods that hold up in shipping?
Q. My husband and I want to make my mother in law a gift basket for her birthday, and I would like to make several homemade treats. I am already making cinnamon almonds, but am kind of stuck as to what else I could add. I wanted to make truffles, but those have to be refrigerated. Any ideas as to things that would hold up well through shipping?

A. Bar type cookies travel well: [think] brownies, Blondies, Seven Layer Bars, etc. do very well in shipping.....

There are a billion recipes [on the net] for "brittles" that you make in the microwave oven, simple and heck, it's SUPPOSED to break!!!

Tuxedo (White and Dark Chocolate) Dipped Pretzels are a breeze to make and travel well.....

You might want to visit Pillsbury.com or FoodNetwork.com for more ideas........Enjoy!!!

So my son's first birthday is the 19th of this month and i need some lunch ideas?
Q. i want to make sure that my guest will be fed right. the way i look at it is these people are taking time out of their days and buying gifts for my son so i should make sure the food is damn good. feed them right and send them home happy. lol got any ideas? my mother-in-law is making some turkey and mashed potatoes with gravy. but i need more ideas then just that.

A. Turkey and mashed potatoes with gravy is not really little kid birthday party food. I'd do a bbq with hotdogs and hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans, a fruit salad, veggie tray, and chips and dip.

But if your mother in law must make the turkey, then things that would go with that would be mac and cheese, dinner rolls, garden salad, pasta salad, corn on the cob, chili beans.
