Its my friends birthday in 40 days and everytime she mentions it i get anxious!! she got me a fish for my birthday and she expects something amazing from me! shes 14, shes into nirvana and old music. i guess you could say shes kinda grunge, she wears doc martins and has really nice clothes. shes obsessed with tumblr and has a tumblr room and she has a job too. i was kind of thinking getting her more than one thing but i dont really know. shes also into makeup and brands. she keeps adding to the list if things she wants but i dont know what to get her. she wants a nirvana shirt and earphones. i was thinking of getting her a pair of cherry red doc martins but i dont really know coz they are exoensive. so im kind of stuck. Birthday presents for an anime-loving 14 year old?

My bestie's birthday party is on Friday and i still haven't found a present for her. I really don't know much of anything about anime and all i could think of last year was a tee shirt with a blue haired girl on it ( i don't remember her name) and this year i want to get her something anime-related she would love. I know her favorite whatever u call it is Homestuck. She loooves Homestuck. She loves the book or tv show or whatever Deathnote is too. She does that cosplaying thing too so i was thinking maybe a wig because that's like her favorite thing in the world. She's cosplayed as i think Rin and someone named Dave. She has way too many posters, so any other ideas?

I'm not sure that they'll be able to ship things in time for you to receive them on Friday (I think you'd be more likely to receive your items sooner if you live on the East Coast), but if your friend isn't the type to get mad if you don't have the main part of the present by the time her party starts, then that's an option. You say she's cosplayed as Dave, so I'm going to assume that's one of her favorite characters...try going to the part of the Whatpumpkin site that sells clothes and checking out the "god tier hoodies". Do you know if she already owns the red one, with the slightly-lighter-red gear on it? That's a Dave-related hoodie, and it's really comfortable, and since the weather's getting cooler anyway, it might come in handy. Also, since the hoodie's pretty roomy, you don't have to know her exact size - for a 14-year-old the size S should probably fit, maybe a size M if she's on the larger side. (I bought that same hoodie in size S when I was 16 and it was a little roomy, so...that's how it's designed.)

Of course, if she already has that hoodie, then you could try gifting her one of the other ones (an idea: try buying her the blue one with the Breath symbol on it. The two characters Dave is often shipped with, John and Tavros, both wear that symbol, so it might be a reasonable guess that she likes one or both of those characters...I can't know for sure, though, since I don't know your friend. How good are you with arts and crafts? You could customize it by color, too, and make it look something like your friend's favorite character by adding accessories. Like, make it in red and give it a pair of mini-sunglasses so it looks like Dave Strider, or something like that.

If all else fails, then...take the opportunity to introduce her to a new manga series for her birthday. Go to your local bookstore, find the manga section, and then flip through whatever they have available, looking up reviews on each series that looks interesting on your phone if possible...and then buy whatever looks the most interesting and has the best reviews online. If she likes Death Note, then I think the safest bet would be to buy her the first volume of a manga series with a male protagonist on the front and a darker color scheme for the cover. Make sure you buy her the first volume of something, not any of the later volumes - if you buy her a later volume she won't really be able to read it until she finds the volumes that came before it.

Also, by the way - Homestuck isn't an anime. People sometimes say that it's an anime, but they're joking, it's actually an American webcomic. I thought you might want to know that in advance so you're not confused when you try to go to a store that sells anime merchandise and you can't find anything Homestuck-related. Death Note IS an anime, though (and a manga, and a series of live-action movies...although we don't really talk about the live-action movies), and that other character you said she cosplayed, Rin...well, Rin isn't a Homestuck character OR a Death Note character, so it's most likely that you're talking about Rin Kagamine, the Vocaloid character:

A guy in this community's birthday is in a few days, and since I can't exactly give him a present personally, I decided to think of some way I could wish him a happy birthday ... virtually. But my mind is clogged and I can't think of anything at all. Any ideas?

1. Take a pack a cards and write on the joker card: 52 things i like about you. and on every single card, tell him what you like about him. send it to him either via mail, or a video.
2. Burn a cd of your favorite songs to him, and write on the top of the cd (examples): Songs to listen to when you're sad / songs to listen to when you're happy / my mixed tape for you / burnt a cd for you with songs i liked so that you could love / etc.
3. LOVE LETTER it alwasy works, trust me.

What would you do if your "best friend" always comes running back to you?

I've been friends with her for over 8 years. We were BEST friends for a really long time, through out high school even until this year ( grade 11) when things started to change ( as expected) She pretty much told me that she needed space from me even though i was never near her. That was a few months ago... things changed and she apologized.. Until it got worse and she started constantly lying to me. Telling me she was at her grandmas when really she was at this girls house who she constantly talks sh*t about getting drunk... I couldn't believe it.Then it was my birthday a few days ago.. She never got me a present or even a card. I was pissed considering i spent almost $90 on her in December for her birthday.

Then last night she gets drunk again with ANOTHER girl who she sent a whole bunch of hate to on tumblr.. I don't understand her anymore and im sick of her bullsh*t. It never ends.

But then she will text me and talk to me about all her family problems.. paragraphs on paragraphs out of no where and she expects me to care for her then, when she doesn't even give a f*ck about me.

I have no idea what to do anymore. It's like she is taken advantage of me .. and of course i'm going to feel bad when she tells me her problems, but she is rarely there for me.
What would you do?
Thats the thing though, she does tell me she misses me and always says sorry when she does something wrong.. no other friend ever does that. They just walk out of my life and i can't picture that happening

You need to stop thinking that you somehow own your friend. She goes and sees other friends? Awesome. That's what she wants to do and it's well within her right. She doesn't buy you a present? Unfortunate, but gifts are never a requirement for anything.

If you don't like the way she treats you, find new friends. You are not bound to her. You are free to seek out new social interactions.

I love the Moschino belts but they are pricey. Does she like watches because Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs have nice ones,they are in.Chronograph watches from any place would be nice though,try matte black or rose gold. How should I redo my room?

Ok. I want my room to be really unique. Like something that's never been done before. Here's what I have in my room:

*It's medium size. I have a window across from my door, and a medium size closet*

• A twin-size bed. It is white metal an has a headboard and footboard
• A desk that matches my bed. It has a wooden top, a metal shelf underneath, and white metal legs
• Two white nightstands with drawers and shelves between the legs
• A dresser that matches my nightstands
• A pink, furry teacup chair
• A wicker chest (I'm going to store it away)

Just for the record, I like pink, purple, blue, and lime green. I like art, fashion, and I play the violin. I am in 7th grade.

If it's "unique" you want - then unique advise you will get! I suggest a focal point. If you put something on a wall or area of your room that is really eye catching and different then you have accomplished unique.

Consider painting a GIGANTIC violin on a focal wall! Or purchase a decal, create large art pieces, etc. Doing this will definitely be a nod towards your interest in art.

I have no idea what a pink furry teacup chair is but it sounds fantastic if it really looks like a teacup!

Too many colors in a room can be too busy and end up being not relaxing. That's not to say you can't use many colors - just be wise in where you put them. Such as, putting all your colors in a piece of art or in fabric is good but then take one or two of the colors from that and paint your other walls and furniture. You want everything to flow around the room so put a little of one or two colors around the room in furniture or items so your eye naturally moves around the room.

Consider painting the metal items in your room black (violin strings) and paint all the wood items wood toned (body of violin) Doing this will make your room have a unified look.

If you do end up doing a colorful focal point, take one of the colors and purchase bedding in that color in something with texture. Since your teacup is pink - if you get a bedspread in pink, get it in something that's nice to touch (since you will be laying on it). "Monochromatic" in design means shades of one color - which is a great look especially if you do various shades with various textures.

Consider getting window blinds (wood or rattan) that go along with the other wood tones in your room.

I imagine you might know who Mark Wood is - and if you like him consider putting up a framed photo of him as a conversation piece for your visitors. Also, you could make a pillow for your bed with his "Electrify Your Strings" logo on it.

Well send him a email and attach a bunch of funny pictures and stuff and maybe attach a youtube video of you saying happy birthday.

What would you do if your "best friend" always comes running back to you?

I've been friends with her for over 8 years. We were BEST friends for a really long time, through out high school even until this year ( grade 11) when things started to change ( as expected) She pretty much told me that she needed space from me even though i was never near her. That was a few months ago... things changed and she apologized.. Until it got worse and she started constantly lying to me. Telling me she was at her grandmas when really she was at this girls house who she constantly talks sh*t about getting drunk... I couldn't believe it.Then it was my birthday a few days ago.. She never got me a present or even a card. I was pissed considering i spent almost $90 on her in December for her birthday.

Then last night she gets drunk again with ANOTHER girl who she sent a whole bunch of hate to on tumblr.. I don't understand her anymore and im sick of her bullsh*t. It never ends.

But then she will text me and talk to me about all her family problems.. paragraphs on paragraphs out of no where and she expects me to care for her then, when she doesn't even give a f*ck about me.

I have no idea what to do anymore. It's like she is taken advantage of me .. and of course i'm going to feel bad when she tells me her problems, but she is rarely there for me.
What would you do?
Thats the thing though, she does tell me she misses me and always says sorry when she does something wrong.. no other friend ever does that. They just walk out of my life and i can't picture that happening

You need to stop thinking that you somehow own your friend. She goes and sees other friends? Awesome. That's what she wants to do and it's well within her right. She doesn't buy you a present? Unfortunate, but gifts are never a requirement for anything.

If you don't like the way she treats you, find new friends. You are not bound to her. You are free to seek out new social interactions.
