Birthday location and gift idea?

My good friend is 30. She is married and very soon is her birthday, the current plan is bbq surpise at a park but it is estimated 80% rain that day.

I am asking for fun indoor ideas for plan B. We live in NJ, couple of miles away from NYC.

Also I can't seem to figure out what to get for her. I am looking for some input on that too.
(She is a sport who loves dance, musical instrument, art craft and design, jewelries, food, a good read book). Ps she is not picky

It could be something funny or humorous, I occasionally pulls pranks or jokes on her.

Well i don't know about the place but you can give her something creative by making a basket from this site http://craftyjournal.com/origami-basket/ and fill it with her favorite chocolate and sweets and go to beach and collect shells and make her a shell necklace or give her a nice sweet valley kids series books or a flute

You should throw a birthday party that is fun and memorable. Just keep it as uncomplicated as possible. You should have a themed outback party. Making a gift basket and sending it from NYC to LA?

My friend's birthday is in May and I live in NYC. he lives in Cali. LA.
He enjoys coffee very much but gift baskets online are soo so so expensive.

I thought maybe I'd make one myself and send it to him. Do you think that would be even more expensive?

That's a fun idea! Make a theme basket. If he is into coffee, send him biscotti, some Sugar in the Raw packets, some wooden stirrers (You can snag these from a Starbucks :P) a ToGo coffee traveler and a cheap CD..

Long story short...I bought my mom a birthday gift to two tickets to some show I know she wanted to see but she can't take off work, and I don't know what to do with the tickets now since they are non-refundable...any ideas? (I don't want to go tot he show myself...) Is there some place I can sell them or something?

What good birthday gifts would you recommend for my boyfriend?

I want to come up with a special birthday gift and am not coming up readily with ideas. I wanted some help as I brainstorm. He's 36 and originally from Europe but we live in NY. He is a software engineer and has a phd in Physics so loves science stuff and technology. It would be great if the gift could be personalized but that's not a deal breaker. He has a personal trainer which he goes to once a week and he also has been taking drumming lessons, so has a small bongo drum (starter one). He enjoys world music.

Of course we love each other very much as well and have been together for about 1.5 years. We are talking seriously about marriage and so I think that is in the near future.

Any ideas for a good gift?

well, you're in NY, perhaps you could find a beloved band or musician playing in the not-too-distant future to get tickets to?
or, there's a billion clubs, like the blue note, for dinner and a show, or find a dinner then come for the show.
he must love the american museum of natural history (if not, there's dozens of other museums that may be of interest to him), perhaps get him annual membership or tickets to a special exhibition? or, some showing at the planetarium?
a trip home? (dunno how much you're looking to spend)
spend a weekend (or however long is manageable) and take a road trip, there's seriously about anything you could look for within 50-300 miles of nyc. go to mit - dunno, they might have an interesting lecture... washington dc, the smithsonian has amazing exhibits. or just crazy like casinos - atlantic city, the poconos, upstate ny, all points anywhere. you could go spelunking, the baseball hall of fame, niagara falls (no barrel runs, lol), run off to chi-town, philly, lake placid, heck, montreal is a 6-7 hour drive from nyc, anyway, you get the point about travel.
maybe an experience together could be more gratifying and memorable than a specific item?
skydiving? lol. see the races at watkin's glen, or just tour, wherever the mood strikes him. if you're interested in the travel thing you could join aaa and get regional guides for free (with cost of membership, of course) which tell you about what any little town has to offer. maybe you have a friend that is a aaa member who could order guides for you?
maybe see what festivals are coming up within 300-400 miles. maybe something he likes? lol, ya never know if there will be a software engineering/physics/technology fest... maybe the jacob javitz has something coming up?
sorry, i can't think of any specific item to give him... i once gave my brother (a geotechnical engineer) a "stop plate tectonics" t-shirt... but, he's only my bro, not the love of my life.

Anything related to your friend's passion of cooking will be well received. I was thinking along the lines of something that she wouldn't buy herself straight away.. a beautiful Tagine for example.

Used extensively for Moroccan recipes they are beautiful as an ornament in the kitchen as well.

Team it up with some great spices and a cookbook and there is a truly unique gift!

What to do for daughters ninth birthday?

Her name is Faith and she is turning 9! Her sister Chastity is coming to, but I'm getting a babysitter for my other kids. Well probably go to the church first, and then continue with her birthday. It's in a few weeks, any ideas?

Just ask her what she wants to do and do it. When my daughter turned 9 we took her to Paris set up a mini carnival for her, invited everyone in the class and did many other things for the rest of the month. It was a lot of fun and she enjoyed it. We also gave her all of the gifts she wanted so if you are not planning on having a huge celebration you can do this also.I do both for my kids. Another good idea is to take her to Hollywood and give her her own little video or photo shoot for fun(my husband made this possible he works in that area and will make my kid a star(:). Trust me ,my kid did this just randomly and it was awesome. Another thing I did was bought my daughter a horse,installed a bowling alley in the house, a movie theater, an indoor pool,and some other things for her 11th b-day, this was not all kids just can't get enough right?!(: I also have set up a water park with real slides and cool rides. Another cool thing is to go to Canada or Disney or NYC. We do these regularly but most don't because we have a little more money. Lastly, for my sons birth-month(our family does not celebrate just one day) I bought a private jet(not the only thing) and a hot air balloon +blimp with his name and happy birthday(we did each of these for all our kids and one of each with the family name on it in their/our favorite color, the family ones are rainbow with other designs)(we got even more than that, that would be lame if we did not).
Hope you can do this and remember to give your girl everything she wants. If you don't do this, you are a bad parent or just extremely poor!

Q. So I pretty much have the hardest time shopping for Christmas and birthday presents for my fiancé. We've been together almost 6 years now, and I have no idea how I've gotten through 6 years of giving him gifts. He is just soooo hard to shop for! He's simple and laid back.
