What's a Good Gift for an 11 year-old girl?

sarahtahan

I need to get a birthday gift for my husband'd neice, she's too old for toys but not old enough for older teen gifts, it's a really awkward age and I'm stuck! Any ideas?

Answer
Gift cards are a great idea, my 10 yr old received several last year and loved shopping for herself. If you're not sure what she likes a general place like Wal -mart or Target are great. If she like jewelry, maybe try Claire's. If she's a reader try Barnes & Nobles or Borders. If she like crafts try Hobby Lobby. They have every craft kit you can imagine-painting, clay. sewing, candle making, sand art-everything. My daughter loves science kits too. Check out National Geographic toys[also available at Target] or Discovery toys. They're great for older kids. Gift card to a local music store? You're right about this being a really hard age to shop for, but whether a gift card or if you hit the store yourself, I think these ideas should help you as I've been contemplating this myself with the approach of Christmas. Best of luck!

Gift ideas?! Please help! What should I buy him?! ASAP!!?

Billie

I really don't know what to get my boyfriend for Christmas! And his birthday is a few days after Christmas day, so the more ideas, the better please?!
He always buys me lovely, expensive things, and although money isn't everything, I really want to have something amazing for him this year!

He plays the XBox a lot, but there isn't any games that he wants. He reads comics and graphic novels, but he downloads them. He also downloads any music he wants, so CD's are out too.
He's not much of a reader apart from that, so books would be pointless, and I've pretty much exhausted the posters and clothes ideas.
He's not one for going away either, so a trip or anything like that wouldn't work, and I've already done the romantic dinner thing, and a photo frame with our picture in it for our anniversary, so thats a no-go too!
He's also not into sport or cars or anything like that, so physical activities like paint balling and canoeing wouldn't work!

I've looked for collectables and stuff online, but nothing so far!

He's not deliberately awkward, and will say he loves whatever I get him regardless! I just really hoped I could get him something he'd love!

Now you see my dilema?! lol!
Hope someone can help! All ideas are welcomed!
Thanks!

Not video games (he has enough of those!) or music (he's not interested in it yet).

Thoughts?

Answer
Books are such a great present!! Do you know the books (series of about 6 books) by Dav Pilkey? They're called "Captain Underpants" and boys that age love them. They are pretty funny and not at all awful but pretty well done. Just the right reading level for a kid who can read on about a 2nd grade level but, maybe you can read them to him. There's also a picture book called "Walter the Farting Dog" which, as you can imagine is a great hit with 7 yr old boys too.
If he's a good reader or you are looking for chapter books that can be read to him, Judy Blume has a group of books about a kid named Fudge and his older brother and the antics they get into together. Very clever and well written. The last one I'm going to recommend is by Robert McCloskey and it's called "Homer Price" and it's also a chapter book and it's about the same reading level as Judy Blume's books. It's about a kid growing up in rural America in like 1940 or even a little earlier and all the silly and very funny games and tricks and craziness they get into in the town.
I know you probably have to get him other stuff besides books but, do try to include some because they last long after the toys do!

What is a good gift for an aspiring video game designer?

Melissa

I have a good friend that wants to be a video game designer and I'm trying to find a good gift for his birthday that will help him along with that. He's not much of a reader, and most of the stuff that the books have, he's already researched. I'm hoping there's maybe a software I could buy or somewhere I could take him to meet game designer type people, or something of that sort that I could do for him. Anyone have any ideas?

Answer
A trip to Japan XD Nah Game Maker 8 is a great, easy to use but flexible game designer. You could get him the pro version for about 15 dollars but it depends what stage he is at(Game Maker might be a bit easy).Look around for game developing tools if you want, but they can get quite expensive so it really depends on how much you are willing to pay.

I don't know what I want for my birthday.
Originally I wanted to go skiing but my brother said it would interfere with his school work. Now I can't go, and I don't know what I want.

Answer
Any theme parks in your area that you want to visit? Gift card to your favorite store? Maybe ask for a new gadget, like a camera, e-book reader, something that relates to your interests.

I'm a guy, don't have much of an idea what girls want. At last resort ask for money, but you might seem rude if you do so, if you have parents that don't like to give money as a gift.
