I need some Birthday/Christmas present ideas for my dad?

kenzilynn

he loves history. Da Vinci, the Vikings, Ancient Romans, any kind of art: Kandinsky, Monet, Rothco, he LOVES dinosaurs, Ancient Native Americans, and the middle age warfare stuff; trebujet, ballista, seige tower etc. and he only wants homemade gifts so nothing too complicated lol ideas are much appreciated! <3

Answer
Make a 'love jar' and fill it with origami hearts, flowers and slips of paper with notes of appreciation written on them or 'I love you' or 'Happy Birthday' written in different languages (on the back write which language it is).

Say I love you in different languages
http://www.links2love.com/i_love_you_languages.htm

Happy Birthday in different languages
http://www.omniglot.com/language/phrases/birthday.htm

Use empty jars to use as pen/pencil holders or use empty soup cans - take the label off and wrap them in fabric or colored paper and decorate them. Draw or paint them or glue on pictures of things he would like.

Make a bookmark with pictures of art from magazines - it can be a few small pics or just one, glue it to construction paper, then take it to Staples/Office Max/Office Depot or a store like that near you and get them laminated, then cut it. Make sure you know how wide you want the bookmark before you start with the glue. After hole-punch the top and put a ribbon or twine of some kind through the hole, then tie it off in a knot.

Or make cookies:

Fudge

2 Cups Sugar
2 1/2 Tablespoons dry Hershey's Cocoa
2 Tablespoons of butter or margarine
1/3 coup white Karo Syrup (corn syrup)
1/2 cup condensed milk
1 cup walnuts (shelled and chopped)
1 teaspoon Vanilla

Combine all ingredients except nuts and vanilla. Stir together well. Bring to a vigorous boil and boil for 5 minutes.

Remove from flame. Allow to cool for 10 minutes. Beat vigorously to make it creamy. Add walnuts and vanilla. Stir and pout out onto waxed paper lined square pan.

NOTE: Do not attempt to make cooked candies (this fudge recipe) when the weather is rainy, very cloudy or wet fog.

Quick Banana Chocolate Chip Bars

1 Medium Ripe Banana, peeled
1 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
¾ Cup Brown Sugar, packed
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
½ Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
¼ Teaspoon Salt
1/3 Cup Olive or Vegetable Oil
2 Tablespoons Milk
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 Egg
¼ Cup Chopped Nuts
½ Cup Chocolate Chips (or what feels good)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray small rectangular or 9x9 square baking pan with non-stick spray.

Chop or mash banana. Combine with flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, oil, milk, vanilla and egg in large bowl. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips to this mixture OR save them to add as topping, sprinkling on top of mixture after poured into the pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes.

Isabellas (Oatmeal Cookies)

1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/4 cups flour
1 1/2 cups oats
Dash salt, optional
Powdered Sugar

Cream butter and sugar until light. Mix in vanilla, then flour, oats and salt. Chill thoroughly, about ½ hour in the refrigerator. Shape into small balls and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Flatten with a fork, crisscrossing. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-18 minutes (depending on your oven). Sprinkle with Powdered Sugar

Jumbles

3 large bananas, mashed
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup chopped dates
1/3 cup oil
Dash of salt
1 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients, let set 15 minutes. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Spicy Oatmeal Crisps
Pepper may sound like an odd ingredient for a cookie, but it complements the other spices well (although you can omit it if you prefer).
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon ground allspice
½ teaspoon grated whole nutmeg
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (optional)
1 cup packed brown sugar
5 tablespoons butter or stick margarine, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
½ cup regular oats
Cooking spray

Preheat oven to 350°. Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine flour and next 7 ingredients (flour through pepper) in a medium bowl. Beat sugar, butter, and vanilla in a large bowl with a mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add egg; beat well. Stir in flour mixture and oats.

Drop by level tablespoons 2 inches apart onto baking sheets coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes or until crisp. Cool on pan 2 to 3 minutes or until firm. Remove cookies from pan; cool on wire racks.

Ideas for a handmade gift for my boyfriend's birthday :)?

Q. Nothing normal like a scrap book or power point movies... go for originality
thnk you so much

Basket with his/her favorite snacks, movie tickets, DVD, CD, T-shirt, microwave popcorn, wine, etc.

Make a love jar and fill it with origami hearts and flowers along with slips of paper with handwritten notes about how you feel about him, how you appreciate him, or things you love about him:

Homemade coupons:

Movie night - his choice
Free Body massage
Free Hug
Free Kiss, etc
One free pass next time you are upset with him

Quick Banana Chocolate Chip Bars

1 Medium Ripe Banana, peeled
1 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
¾ Cup Brown Sugar, packed
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
½ Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
¼ Teaspoon Salt
1/3 Cup Olive or Vegetable Oil
2 Tablespoons Milk
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 Egg
¼ Cup Chopped Nuts
½ Cup Chocolate Chips (or what feels good)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray small rectangular or 9x9 square baking pan with non-stick spray.

Chop or mash banana. Combine with flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, oil, milk, vanilla and egg in large bowl. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips to this mixture OR save them to add as topping, sprinkling on top of mixture after poured into the pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes.

Isabellas (Oatmeal Cookies)

1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/4 cups flour
1 1/2 cups oats
Dash salt, optional
Powdered Sugar

Cream butter and sugar until light. Mix in vanilla, then flour, oats and salt. Chill thoroughly, about ½ hour in the refrigerator. Shape into small balls and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Flatten with a fork, crisscrossing. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-18 minutes (depending on your oven). Sprinkle with Powdered Sugar

Chicken Italianio (easier than it looks and if you donât have rosemary or cooking wine, just leave them out)

3 lbs chicken breasts, cut up
3-6 tbsp salad oil
12 garlic cloves
1/2 cup dry white wine
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp dried rosemary leaves
1 medium-sized onion, sliced
4 medium-sized tomatoes, cut into wedges
1 8 oz package of spaghetti

In 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat, in hot salad oil, cook chicken and garlic until golden brown on all sides, about 20-25 minutes. When done, add wine, salt, pepper, rosemary, onion and half the tomato wedges; over high heat, heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 15 minutes or until chicken is fork-tender. Skim fat from liquid in skillet (if there is any). Add remaining tomatoes; heat through. While this is simmering, prepare spaghetti as label directs.

To serve, drain spaghetti; place on large platter. Spoon chicken mixture on top of spaghetti.

Emma

My mom's birthday is tomorrow and I have no idea what to get her! She like gardening, loves to draw and paint, and she likes trying new foods. I would like to make something my self for her. Any idea's that would be pretty quick and easy yet a nice gift?

Thanks!

DIY Birthday Gift Ideas....?

Kathryn

Your help would be very appreciated! A little over a year ago, my cousin moved in with me. My family and I really helped her out, and a month ago she left to move back to her home town. I really want to make her something for her birthday that she will actually use and like! I love anything DIY because I really enjoy crafts and love to be creative. She's 22, her favorite color is green, and she lives near the beach. (She's lived there her entire life, so really, the beach isn't that special to her.. so it'd be kinda weird to have a lot of suggestions about the beach.) I just really wanted to know if any of you knew any, not good, but GREAT websites for DIY crafts. I really like mydiyweddingday.com, but unfortunately, I'm not planning a wedding here! I have a month to make whatever it is, too, because her birthday is early August.. and I'm sending it, probably, around August 1, so it will be there by her birthday!
Thank you all for your help!

Birthday part ideas for a 22 year old woman?

My birthday is in early december. I would like to have a party that doesn't require much money spent yet or food. I was thinking of having people meet at a pool hall and play, ladies can get in for free. And after a few games we go to a bar.

Answer
Print this articleQuality Time
Not every gift has to be wrapped in box. For some people, the best gift they could receive is quality time. Plan out a day for the two of you centered on the birthday personâs interests. Take time--give the day some thought and do things together that you only wish you had time to do on a normal day. Read her favorite story to her, go for a walk or visit a place you shared a special memory together.

Create a Gift
You can always create a gift from old pictures. Put together a collage or photo book that commemorates your time together in friendship or love. A photo book is a great idea because the individual can always add to the book as the years go by. You can write a note on each page expressing how you feel about him or include inside jokes you may have shared with him.

Make Food
If you know the personâs favorite food, prepare it for her from scratch. The thoughtfulness and time you spend to make the dish just right will mean a lot to her. Even if youâre not an expert chef, the very idea that you cared enough to attempt to make her favorite dinner or dessert will be enough to show your appreciation.

Coffee and Mug
Find a ceramic coffee mug at a discount store and place the personâs favorite coffee beans in it. This will really make the day of a coffee lover. If heâs more of a tea person, stuff the mug with his favorite tea. Write a note to include with the gift and let the person know that you would like to have morning coffee or tea with him. This way, youâre giving a physical gift plus the gift of time.

A Surprise Party
One of the greatest gifts you can give someone is to gather their loved ones in the same room to celebrate her life. You can throw an affordable surprise party by either simply having coffee and dessert or by arranging a potluck. The food is secondary in this venture--itâs the people that make this gift so special and memorable.

What is a good gift to make for my boyfriend?

My boyfriend's bday is coming up, and I am considering being a little crafty and making him something. I made him a scarf for christmas, and he loved it. And now he keeps hinting that he likes it when he gets something homemade. Any suggestions on something fun? I was considering one of those no sew fleece blankets, but I am not totally sold on it. He's 29, and loves nature and being outside. Any suggestions?

Answer
The fleece blanket is a good idea. I would suggest something just for him, not the two of you. No scrapbooks or pictures or things like that. Those are anniversary presents and that day is his day.

One thing you could do is make a hummingbird feeder. Its great to see those birds fly right by your window. He can sit on his deck and watch them fly by. http://www.ehow.com/how_2085118_make-hummingbird-feeder.html?ref=fuel&utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=ssp&utm_campaign=yssp_art

If you don't have humming birds in your area try a bird house or feeder. It brings nature right into your backyard!
Bird house-http://www.ehow.com/how_2310991_build-bird-house.html
Bird feeder-http://www.ehow.com/how_81_make-simple-bird.html

The fleece blanket makes a great gift for anyone! I love making them! Walmart and Hobby Lobby have great nature printed fleece you could use.

If I have any other ideas I will add them! I hope you find a great present! Happy Birthday (insert name of birthday boy here) :D

Best way to put an image on a hoodie?

Emily

It's a month until my boyfriend's birthday and for part of his gift I really want to make him a custom hoodie.. I don't want to use a site and risk the quality of the hoodie not being what I want it to be or the size being wrong or any other problems, so I'm planning on purchasing a plain black hoodie as a base and doing it myself. The picture I want to use for the front is cartoonish but has several colors, what's the best and least expensive way for me to do this and still get a nice quality end result? Any ideas/links would be appreciated!

Answer
See if there is a place in your town/city. I have a link that might help, my cousin did it and it turned out great. If it doesn't help you may have to have an online website do it and take the risk

what to get my solider for his 21st bday while he is deployed?
Q. My solider is overseas an he birthday is coming up an i dont no what to send him any ideas? i made a dvd for him but i wanna send something else too..

A. Put together a gift basket to send to soldiers. Package the gift basket as a present and include useful items like baby wipes, hand warmers (depending on location), brown t-shirts, AA batteries, magazines, icy/hot patches, sewing kit, board games, razors, instant drink mix, cereal bars, soup mix, instant noodles, inflatable pillow, playing cards, dice, toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Read more: Gift Ideas for Deployed Soldiers | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/list_5783824_gift-ideas-deployed-soldiers.html#ixzz1TdiZmL00

For overseas soldiers, send a cell phone that takes a SIM card. He can purchase a new SIM card in the country where he's stationed and swap it out to make and receive phone calls. (The phone number will change with each card.)

What do soldiers do, a lot? March. In sweaty, non-breathing footgear. Through nasty terrain. Answer: a foot care kit. This doesn't have to be anything frou-frou - just fill a shaving bag with Dr. Scholl's gel insoles, fungus spray, foot powder, heated socks (yes, they exist), foot deodorizer, charcoal odor absorbers, and whatever else seems appropriate. For those who complain a lot, a foot massager might even be a good choice.

A. Put together a gift basket to send to soldiers. Package the gift basket as a present and include useful items like baby wipes, hand warmers (depending on location), brown t-shirts, AA batteries, magazines, icy/hot patches, sewing kit, board games, razors, instant drink mix, cereal bars, soup mix, instant noodles, inflatable pillow, playing cards, dice, toothbrushes and toothpaste.
