Gift Ideas for a 6 year old girl's birthday?

My half-sister (in law) is turning 6 in a couple of weeks, and I want to get her something that is girly and for kids yet makes her feel grown up because she is always wanting to be like us "big kids".

I know she likes the typical stuff like barbies but I really want to get her something she will absolutly LOVE.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

(I'm also open to taking her somewhere)

if she is responsible i would get her a piece of jewelry she could keep forever like maybe a locket or a pendent of some sort if you think she will lose it within a week then maybe depending what shes into a cute bathing suit with pool toys or a make your own necklace or lip gloss kit or maybe just some fun bath bubbles and toys and if you want to take her some where tell her you want to have a girls day out and take her to get her nails done with you and out to a nice lunch (i know at some hotels you can have a tea party if you call ahead of time and request one which could be fun)

First in my opinion your going about this the wrong way. You shouldn't care about what others think of you but what your six year old cousin thinks of your present. Just because you get her some toys that are the latest trend if she doesn't like it then you will have gotten your cousin a bad present and it is her birthday not a chance to show off. So i suggest you get a present that she will like.

As for something trendy something like a few packs of silly bands to go with your present would be nice. My 8 yo sister wears them all the time.

It really just depends what they are into. Here are a few ideas that my 5 yr. old niece has liked:
1. big arts/crafts sets (like make your own jewelry, stepping stone, painting, etc.)
2. outside toys if it's warm where they live- balls, jumpropes, tennis raquets, etc.
3. model kits for the boy if he likes building (cars, dinosaurs, radios, etc.)
4. crystal growing kits
5. educational video games like Leap Frog's Leapster (those are huge hits but pricier!)
6. bikes
7. train set for the boy (Thomas the Train is huge)
8. kids table w/chairs for them to sit at
9. kids little sofa/chairs that fold out for sitting & playing
10. a big kids kitchen set w/pretend kitchen
11. a large dollhouse
12. electronic reading systems like Tag/Leap Frog
13. Fisher Price's Cool School computer
14. computer games

this is a small list but hopefully it will spark some ideas for you! not sure about the balloon delivery- maybe try a local flower shop?

I need some gift ideas for my boyfriend's little sister. She's turning 6 next week and I want to get her something that she will absolutely love! She's been talking to me about her birthday for months now and she's super excited. She likes barbies and other toys but not as much as she loves other grown up stuff. She hates it when someone calls her a kid. So I wanted to get her something that is for kids but also makes her feel kind of "older". She's been wanting to see my friends so I have already decided to take her out on her birthday so she can meet my friends and cut a cake. But I'm still not sure about the gift. She loves gifts so there has to be a gift! Any ideas would be appreciated!

P.S. In the past, I've bought her barbies, dresses and colouring books etc. She loved them all. She also likes hannah montana. I don't want to get her make up or anything like that because my boyfriend thinks she's too young to be wearing any make up.

when i had a 6 yr old sister she was like that too. i would get her a chirley temple from the restaurant that you go too. tell her its a special grown up thing. u and ur friends need to get it too. ask for extra cherrys for her too. it makes them feel special. Birthday brunch ideas for a 6 year old?

My daughter is turning 6 on the 16th of January. I'm not sure what to do for her birthday. We live in a tiny apartment and don't want people over and we do not have a party room. I don't want to do chuck-e-cheese. Any ideas. What I had in mind is brunch but where the kids can also play a game or 2 and run around a bit.... i guess maybe a private room at a restaurant BUT im low on cash. Any ideas? I suck at this kind of stuff but my daugther deserves a good birthday she is such a good girl. Last year was a nightmare-I had planned a princess day in baltimore only the morning of her bday my car got towed :*( .

BTW Im in northern va, anything around here would be great.
There wouldn't be a lot of kids, probably 5, the rest are my friends from school.

Hey there! So... I'm turning 15 in February (7th) and I'm having a somewhat difficult time coming up with some good birthday party ideas. There are about 10 people I will be inviting (give or take a few) and the majority of them will be girls. I'm actually not even sure if I will invite any guys if it is at my house (my dad wouldn't be too happy about that). Anyways, we all are either 14 or 15 years old and have a decent amount of things in common. I have known all of them for at least 10 months (some I have known for three years, one I have known for 11 years). Some of them don't know each other though (hopefully they will get to know each other during my party). We all LOOVE scary movies, food, music, pranks, and shopping. (I'm thinking the stuff I just mentioned can help you give me some ideas) Since my birthday is in February I can't really do anything like swimming, going to the park, or anything like that. My birthday is on a Friday and if I decide to have a sleepover or something it might not be able to be right after school for a couple reasons: I'm a cheerleader and have a basketball game after school and from 5-6pm I have dance practice that I (may or may not) be able to skip. Another reason I might not be able to have a sleepover (at my house anyways) would be the fact that I have two cats and I know at least two people that are allergic to cats. I might be able to have a sleepover at a hotel (I live in Las Vegas,NV). But I'm not too sure about how my parents would feel about that. Anyways... my birthday party would be between February 7 (Friday) and February 9 (Sunday) so please answer this before January 20. Thanks so much for all ideas you give me! ⺠If I remember anything that I forgot to put here then I will just add it at the bottom. Thanks again!

If you get a hotel room your parents would have to rent it and stay with you in your room. Unless you get a huge suite you're sleep over will be limited to four people to the room. Not only would it be illegal (called defrauding an inn keeper), but Las Vegas hotels tend to run on the small side.

Why not have a Las Vegas themed birthday party. Get some of the play slot machines (about $6 each at the Bonanza Gift Shop) and make some non-alcoholic drinks. You could also see if your parents would let you have your party at the drive-in and see a double or triple feature. Make a night of it with pizzas or something (yes, you are allowed to take your own food in).

Do what YOU want for your birthday. Don't worry about what your friends like (don't like) or if they allergic to cats. You are never going to get 10 or more people to all agree. I've had people who are allergic cats stay at my house and they were fine (we have three cats). Just vacuum the area really well, keep the cats out, and maybe have some Benadryl on hand just in case.

Do you have favorite singers/musical groups that you like? If so, how about some CD's? I know Hannah Montana, Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato are big with the younger kids. Then there's Brittany Spears new CD. I don't know what you like.

What about a gift certificate to your favorite clothing store? Do you have Delia's there? My niece used to love that store when she was your age. Of course, there are tons of other great stores.

A book of movie tickets so you can go with your friends whenever you want to. You can get a book for like 6 mos to a year to your favorite cinema and go whenever you want. I think you have to wait until the movie has been out for a couple of weeks though. That's the only stipulation.

I don't know. You should know better then any of us. It's been a long time since I was 14. When I was 14 things were different. Go Go boots were the big thing! lol

I'm assuming you're a guy so I'm answering it as such.

For starters as far as a 13 year old girl is concerned, clothes are not lame. Most 13 year old girls would kill for cool clothes.

If she loves music, have you thought about making her a mix cd? Then buy her a rad necklace or shirt to go with it. Girls love things that people do from the heart so a mix cd will go far. Girls LOVE jewelry from guys even if they won't normally admit it.

If you "like like" her but she doesn't know it, then buy her a gift card for the movies that has enough for 2 people and write a note asking if she wants to go with you.

If you're strictly friends then think about things she said when you were hanging out, anything she mentioned an interest in. 6 months before his birthday, my friend (now boyfriend) was talking about this artist he was really into, so when it came time for his bday I remembered the artist and ordered a limited print for him. He was amazed that a remembered/listened. I can't tell you what that would be in your case, but don't go to a store looking for something she'd like. Think of something you remember her liking and go to a store to find something that connects with that.

My niece will be turning 6 in a few weeks. We'll actually be able to attend her birthday party (we live 6 hours away) and want to give her something that she will absolutely love! Any ideas? I'd like to only spend $50 or less.
Last year I took her on a road trip to our new home in Syracuse, we did Build-A-Bear, a Buffalo Bills Football Game and Chuck E Cheese...we'll never live up to that but want to be a hit nontheless :)

Art ideas. It's fun to go somewhere like Target or WallMart because you can get sooo much for $50. 6 year olds (I have two girls and we've been to a ton of parties) absolutely love lots of STUFF!! (I guess that might carry over to our adult life). I know if we went a little themeish it was fun too. Animals or stars, moon, sky or princesses. There are so many fun glitter glues, pens, papers, stickers, etc. Have fun! And yeah, gift basket it!

Definitely Hannah Montana stuff - unless she already has it all! Our six year old granddaughters like making stuff and painting so maybe a craft set for both girls.. Sparkly T shirts are good also hair ornaments for both age groups. Books for the 9 year old if she is a reader.
