Nanny Birthday???????????????????????????????

Tee

My nanny birthday is coming up and I have no clue as in what to get her I have no ideas Im not a true gift giving person in my family we only got cards and money or checks so I have no clue.....she takes very good care of my son and I want something very unique for her what do you all suggest and Im not spending alot of money she gets enough money from me including fancy dinners, and she dont have to pay for family trips not even a bottle of water she have to pay for. I was thinking of getting a card and having him put his hand prints in them hes only 13 months old

any ideas I need to have the gift by sat for her party
when we go out she is not working she is there b/c she has no family here and I want her to be happy when Im home I take good care of my child she goes else where and does whatever she likes with her free time

Answer
Okay since you dont want to pay much.Go and get her a plain white shirt and then have him put his hand prints on it.And then you write something nice on it.Like Worlds greatest so and so but its up to you on what you put. but my grandma loved the shirt my girls made for her and its special and doesn't cost more then 10 dollars or so.

Can you give me a birthday gift idea for a just turned 2 year old girl?

The Jolly

I don't know her all that well and I don't know her parents. My son goes to Gymboree with her and I chat with her nanny. Her and my son have been labeled "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" as they just love each other. She is way advanced for her age. I know her parents are loaded so I can't imagine that she doesn't already have everything! (The nanny drives a Bentley to class...lol...seriously.)

You all are pretty creative, any ideas here? I'm thinking of calling the teacher and maybe she can give me some insight as to what she likes.

Answer
Maybe you can ask the nanny what she likes. Things I'd give a 2 year old:
-a doll
-books (always my first choice!)
-craft items (playdough, crayons, fingerpaint)
-blocks

Things I'd avoid would be clothes because if they are wealthy, they might have a certain preference for brand or style.

I have really grown to be apart of the family and love them like my own family! They got me a very expensive gift for my birthday, and I feel like I should do something nice for them for Christmas. I am getting the kids gifts of course, but not too sure what to do for Mom and Dad..Any ideas??

Answer
a 1-day free coupon
or some perfume

What do you buy a 2 year old that has everything?

I have a family friend who has bought my daughter soo much stuff for my baby shower, her birth, and her first birthday. I'm talking hundreds of dollars at a time. I certainly appreciate it, and would like to repay it back at her daughters occasions, but I can in no way afford it. Her daughters 2nd birthday is coming up, and I don't know what to get her. She literally has everything a girl could want. I would like to get her something relatively big, a preschool gift basket of some sort maybe. I don't know what 2 year old need.

Answer
wow thats a toughy! I used to be a nanny for very well off people and it was the same thing! But in the cuboards stored away there were hundreds of gifts for them still wrapped from years ago!
I know that you want your friends approval or maybe shes the type who would say to herself "wow thats better than the present I got her".
But hey try and think of something she would reallllly enjoy, and think of you for. Sometimes the simplest things are so much more of a pleasure.
My girl is two... and her FAVOURITE thing is this hanbag that she takes every where! theyre also really into copying what mum does. So maybe a tea set or pretend microwave, pots and pans. Theyre very into pretend play.
If you go with the bag idea, buy a little toy phone, purse, note pad and pop some coins in there. Because it will garuantee to be a hit. Rather than some really expensive flashing ball throwing thing that will be a novelty for two weeks then loose intrest in.
P.S. sorry I have written a novel here but I feel that this is something I really know about. good luck and update us k!

What are some good ideas for getting children to participate in charity?

I am the nanny for a 15 month old child, and they want her to start to learn about giving. Are there any good charity events that she could actually learn and benefit from?

I already thought about visiting a nursing home, but they didn't love the idea. Any more suggestions?

Answer
The best way is by setting a good example. Let her see you participate and explain to her some people need help and also that some day you may need help (you never know) and the world is a better place when we have compassion for people. One of the best things my daughter's English teacher did was to assign them to interview an elderly person, it could be a relative or someone in a nursing home, and then write a paper about that person's life. We had older relatives, but she wanted to go to a nursing home. We spent most of the afternoon there, the little lady was fresh in her mind and talked for hours, but it was heartbreaking to leave, she didn't want us to and kept engaging us in conversation. And one of the best things was that it was the lady's birthday, the front desk nurse suggested this lady to interview. We brought a bouquet of carnations, because I told my daughter it wasn't nice to go there without a little gift. The lady said "Oh, you brought a gift for my birthday!" We didn't know but she was alone so it was good for her. (my daughter got an A on her paper and the teacher thought it was excellent) I think 15 months is young for a child to understand the concept of charity, sometimes parents will ask their children to select some of their toys or even one toy and donate it to children who have nothing, like at a shelter. Or buy something and let her give it to a charity. You have to be careful at a nursing home with a young child, some people are like babies themselves and may grab or say something to scare her. Another way to give without spending $ is to volunteer to help someone besides a friend or relative, she will learn by example if they start doing that.
