Ideas for birthday gift for a bright 4 yr old girl. Would like suggestions for specific toys/games.?

clllittle

I'm her grandma. I give her lots of books. We have loved collecting Little People but I think she may be outgrowing them. I'm looking for something she might want to spend some time with and probably play with alone.
All your answers are SO great! Thanks so much! She has MegaBlocks which are like big legos. Of course, she has a Cabbage Patch doll and a Cabbage Patch newborn. I've gotten several sets of Fisher Price "Little People." (I love them too.) She does still play with them a lot. She has a great imagination. I'll give her mom a call to help me pick. Your ideas should help me with her birthday and Christmas. Thanks.

Answer
one of my favorite gifts to give to both boys and girls of ages from 3-8 or 9 is an art pack.

I begin with a fishing tackle type box and in the sections of the top I put in things like small rulers, stickers, roll of tape, colored pencils, pens/pencils, scissors, paper clips, and other assorted supplies. In the bottom or larger section I place things like various sizes of markers, crayons, notepads, other drawing tools like stencils . And then I decorate the outside with the childs name, and stickers.

then in another bag or briefcase(even the paper or cloth ones work well--and the child feels like a grownup when they use it. Inside I place things like assorted types of paper, colored(get good quality) drawing paper (get a few different types some for markers, some just for pencils, and some for painting) and maybe add an idea book or two (but no coloring books)

All of these ideas should also be based on the age of the child. and should be used with adult supervision until you are sure the child will use them correctly and safely.

I have been told fequently that these are sometimes the favorite gift that a child has recieved at a bithday party...it allows them to explore different types of art mediums and gives them good self esteem about their work and encourages them to take care of their things.

My own children also recieved similar gifts from me and always bring them up when they talk about gifts they have enjoyed the most....my youngest hated having to give up her "box" when she went to college--it had been with her since she was about 8 and she kept all of her "special" art supplies in it and hid her favorite pens and pencils in it to keep them from her sister.

I'm So Clueless - Birthday Gift For 19 Yr. Old Boy?

cherrylips

In early May, the boy who I dated for the majority of my senior year is gonna be celebrating his 19th birthday. He and I broke up recently, but we may be getting back together at some point (kinda depends on what day you catch us, lol).

I have absolutely no idea what to do for him for his birthday. I'm running out of options -

1. I was recently fired from my job and am very close to broke, so I can't afford to buy anything extravagant.
2. I can't cook/bake him anything (which would be my normal response, since I love to cook) because he's having a dinner party at his house and is insisting on cooking it all himself.

He's a punk, for lack of a better word. Really loves ska and punk rock music. His clothing is bold, colorful, and obnoxious. If I had money, I would buy him clothing or something, like I did for Christmas, but with my funds being so tight, I can't afford to.

I like to sew, and was considering possibly picking up a pattern for ties or some other gentleman's accessory (he loves that kind of stuff) and making them with a really bold fabric, but I'm not sure if I'm experienced enough with sewing to pull that off without screwing it up somehow.

He also likes films (movie-making in particular), reading, music, and many other things.

PLEASE, I'm desperate for an idea, here. I have until May 9.
Umm, I have no idea why this was posted in Languages. That was not of my own doing.

Answer

Answer
It really just depends what they are into. Here are a few ideas that my 5 yr. old niece has liked:
1. big arts/crafts sets (like make your own jewelry, stepping stone, painting, etc.)
2. outside toys if it's warm where they live- balls, jumpropes, tennis raquets, etc.
3. model kits for the boy if he likes building (cars, dinosaurs, radios, etc.)
4. crystal growing kits
5. educational video games like Leap Frog's Leapster (those are huge hits but pricier!)
6. bikes
7. train set for the boy (Thomas the Train is huge)
8. kids table w/chairs for them to sit at
9. kids little sofa/chairs that fold out for sitting & playing
10. a big kids kitchen set w/pretend kitchen
11. a large dollhouse
12. electronic reading systems like Tag/Leap Frog
13. Fisher Price's Cool School computer
14. computer games

this is a small list but hopefully it will spark some ideas for you! not sure about the balloon delivery- maybe try a local flower shop?

Answer
Congrats to the birthday fellow! Here are some ideas you might find helpful:

1. Consider having a dinner for close friends and family to celebrate at the birthday boy's favorite restaurant. It can be a "no-host" event and a "no-gifts" or "donate to your favorite (or his favorite) charity party.
2. Consider a weekend away for him and his wife or companion. Take a look at great bed and breakfast's along the coast or in the mountains.
3. If he is a sports enthusiast, host a party for him at a favorite sports bar or arena right before the big game. Or provide tickets.
4. Golf afficienados usually belong to a golf club, which can be an excellant place to have a post-9 hole party. Invite other gof enthusiasts to join and celebrate with finger food or a light lunch.
5. If he has children that live locally, have a birthday dinner or celebration at one of their homes. Invite close friends and create a theme, such as "you're only as old as you think!", serve potluck style or and elegant dinner.
6. I'm not big on having strippers and such, but if the birthday boy can have fun with this, go ahead.

Gifts? Hmmmmmm....for the guy that has everything, consider having a star named after him. Otherwise, see what he needs, what are his passions, and what "can't he live without".

Good luck!

What are some unique homemade xmas gift ideas?

birthday gift ideas 9 yr old boy

Q. Creative, afforable, unique gift ideas and crafts???
i need help-i have less than 100 bucks to spend on these ppl:

1)My mom who loves handmade and unique things(she gets 3 gifts cause of her birthday)
2)A picky 9-yr old sister(something huge and affordable)
3)A outgoing and energetic grandma that likes to collect everything especially dolls)
4)My 2 friends that i work at the library with(ones a rocker boy and the others a christian girl)
5)The elders at the library(something simple, something that they can put on their desk maybe)

Answer
1) Make her a blanket that she can keep on the back of the couch. If you go to a fabric store or Walmart you can get fleece anywhere from 2.00 and up. Then just fringe the edges. You can be as creative as you want. Then grab a mason jar some epsom salt, food coloring and concentrated liquod potpouri (in a scent she would like) mix the salt with a few drops of food coloring and scent. (not to much on the color or scent, it only takes a little bit) Mix it in a bag until the color and scent are mixed well with the salt. Pour into the jar and tighten with lid. Add a small piece of material and ribbon to make it cute and add the tag- Add a handful to a hot bath for a relaxing break. For the third gift, make her a homemade gift card for a couple peaceful bath time breaks. That should make her happy.
Cost 10.00-15.00
2) Make her a photo board. Grab a thin piece of board. Something that is like 3ft by 3ft. But very thin. Just a little thicker than cardboard. Put something you can stick tacks in. Cover it with a thin layer of batting, and her favorite color of matierial. Then take some cute cloth ribbon and run it back and forth to make a criss cross shape (like tic tac toe, or a chess board # kind of design.) Then tack the ribbon in place with cute little tacks. Start her out with a disposable camera. Then help her arrange the pics when they are developed. She can add her school friends and other photos.
Cost 10.00

3)You can make Grandma a mop doll. Their really easy.
You can get the mop and the pattern at most fabric shops. She will love it. I made a few of them. The more creative you are the nicer they are.
cost 10.00-15.00

4) Get them stockings of goodies. You can make them special for each
Cost 10.00

5)Since you see them daily (most of them right) Make a big plate of cookies one day and some punch. Give them each a card telling them merry christmas.
cost 15.00

Hope some of it helped.

9 year old birthday party ideas?

Jim_The_Fr

Do you no of any party ideas for a 9 yr old boy. they cant be at our house and if possible near stevenage in hertfordshire?

If you don't no about the location just list your ideas

If you read this question then can you just put 'i red this' if u don't know, just so i no its been red :)

Oh and i don't really want a themed party, an adventurous one would be Good

Answer
Since I am not familiar with your area I can only give you in general ideas. Since you don't want it at your house you have a few options.

Local parks are always fun. You can make it a sports event...relay races obstacle courses. These are inexpensive ideas without really being a hard core theme. A scavenger hunt at a local park would work to. You could go out ahead of time and scout the park to see what types of things are out there and do up a Scavenger list the kids can carry with them and brown bags to collect things in.

If there is a hotel near by with an indoor pool these are fun too. Some managers are willing to work with parents wanting to do parties. You rent a room and they let you invite guests to enjoy the pool and often have an area you can use for cake and gifts. After the party the family can enjoy an outing at the hotel or your son could even have one or two friends stay overnight.

ideas for 9 yr old boys army party indoors?
Q. Need great ideas for 9 yr old army party?
my son had a really hard year and has been really strong now it is his birthday and i want to throw him an awesome birthday party he loves army and has since he was 2
need food ideas, decoration ideas, games, gift bag ideas
also there is about 6 inches of snow here and he has health concerns and cant be outside much in the cold

A. My grandson has Army parties every year:) In fact, all he'll wear is camoflauge:) ..... If you have room, set up some tents. They might be happy just watching some movies on tv (Stripes; Private Benjamin - other comedies involving the military). You could serve Pigs in a Blanket in mess kits; with veggies & Ranch dip and chips - or pizza. Luckily, my grandson lives in California, and my daughter has his Nov. parties outside, with a firepit for them to sit around; and they spend the night in the yard in tents (my son-in-law sleeps out there too, and he just retired as a Staff Sgt). If you have a fireplace; and the tents; they could lay there and watch the movies; and just "be boys".....

PLZ HELP THANX!!!(and btw,i'm 12 1/2 yrs old)

A. Go to www.gifts.com. When you get there, you can use the shop by personality option which lets you pick whether you are shopping for a man, woman, girl, or boy & then it will take you thru a series of questions to get an idea of what kind of person he/she is. When you get thru that a lot of gift ideas will pop up. Even if you don't find exactly what you are seeking, it'll help get your ideas flowing. Good luck~
