Can't give her movies because she's extremely picky.

I'm going to a birthday party for the girl I used to babysit for. I haven't hung out with her for about 3 months, and I have no idea what she's into now... or what any 9 year old is into.

I want to get an age appropriate gift and I was thinking about the U.B. Funkeys, but even after visiting their site, I don't really know how safe/kid friendly they are.

I was wondering from parents or babysitters out there, what a good gift for a 9 year old would be. Any advice on gifts or more information about the Funkeys from an experienced "Funkier" would be much appreciated! Thanks for you help!

hi. I just turned 10 so im close to that age. maybe see if she has a nintendo DS.....if she does than maybe get her games

maybe you can get her clothes from justice, im not a type of person who shops there but maybe she is.....maybe aeropostale, CDS, Movies or evn just money so she could get whatever she would like...

Definitely Hannah Montana stuff - unless she already has it all! Our six year old granddaughters like making stuff and painting so maybe a craft set for both girls.. Sparkly T shirts are good also hair ornaments for both age groups. Books for the 9 year old if she is a reader.

Several of her friends have had b-day parties and it seemed to me that special emphasis' were placed on guests who brought the best/ expensive gifts. I am so over attending or should I say sending my children to those types of parties.
Her b-day is the second week of November.

Contact someplace that could use children's toys and ask them what they need. Then sent a note in the party invitation that all gifts will be donated to ____ and this is a list of suggested items.
(suggestions: shelters, boys and girls club, Salvation Army, Head Starts, Toys for Tots-run by police officers in our area, places that have after school programs, day cares, the hospital, etc.)

Or, if her birthday is close to Christmas and your town has an "Angel Tree" where they have cards that request gifts for needy children, you could send one of those cards to each guest and ask them to purchase the gift for that child instead of your daughter. (or a similar thing could be done for school supplies at the start of the school year) or some places take donations of Halloween costumes.

Or have the guests bring in beanies or small stuffed animals to be sent to "Beanies for Baghdad".

Or hold the party at an animal shelter. Get a list of things the animal shelter needs and have the guests bring that as their donation. Maybe the shelter has a project the guests could do as part of the party (depending on how old they are).

Q. Ok, here's the scoop: My 9 year old neice will turn 10 next month, and subsequently enter the "tween" stage. She is extremely intelligent with a whole range of interest that a typical little girl partake in. Nevertheless, she is not athletic. She's popular and fashionable and have lots of friends at her elementary school. As her aunt, I want to buy her something very nice and if its a frugal gift (that's fine as well). I am 24 year old graduate student so you can imagine that I cannot "outdo" my siblings in buying my niece anything expensive for her birthday and christmas. A. I had this same predictament not 4 months ago. I too have a 10 yr old niece (and many of her friends) around alot. Paying attention, I found a big interest for all of them is "THE CHEETAH GIRLS".
If you find this is one of your neice's interest; I found a mini karaoke machine at Walmart for $45 and then bought a few of the girl pop bop karaoke cds from one of the 2nd hand video games, cd's and more kinda places. Had her covered for less than $70.
Because of just paying attention specifically to her likes, herself and her friends, think I'm "cool" Haha!
