70th birthday gift for grandma?

Q. Me and my little sister want to make or buy something for our grandma's 70th birthday, but we are not sure what, because every year we give her special soft toys or wine or chocolates and after lets say 45 years of that it must be pretty boring! Anyway...any ideas?
haha...coffin...R.I.P...so funny!!!

Answer
All they really need is love.

This is an age when you are beyond mundane gifts. But then, there may be little things that make her comfortable. Find out and give those.

Maybe, take her to a parlor to get he hair done. Or a good pedicure and head massage.
These make one feel so good.

Or, buy a favorite perfume.
Or a soft, warm, robe she'll wear all winter.
Old people need extra warmth.

And wish her a Happy Birthday from me too!

Boyfriend Birthday Gift Ideas?

Q. Hellooo.

I'm having such a hard time picking out a gift for him even though I know his likes. We've been together six months, so I don't know what going to far would mean. I also don't want him to think that if I get him something expensive, I expect something expensive back when it's my birthday.

Anyways, he's a few things he likes:

He writes music - Maybe a journal to write his songs in? I'm having a hard time finding a decent one online, any ideas?

He's a huge The Beatles fan. He likes 60's/70's/80's music but he has A LOT of CD's already. Wouldn't know what he has or not.

He's 23 btw.

He plays the guitar and the bass.

He's a shy guy for the most part.

He still uses his walkman and carries his cd's with him everywhere... I was thinking an Ipod? But... Would that be too much?

I also saw this The Beatles throw that I think he might like.

Please Help! Anythiiiing anythiiing will be of help!

Thanks! :)

Answer
Since he still uses CDs, you could be all old school and make him a mix. Put songs you think he'll like and songs that remind you of the two of you.

A music journal is a nice idea. Have you seen the ones that have blank sheet music in them as well?
Like this: http://www.themusicstand.com/64-Page-Six-Stave-Student-Blank-Music-Book-p/567781.htm

Or here is a nice music themed regular journal: http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Home-gift/Musicians-Black-Notebook-Manuscript-Paper-for-Inspiration-and-Composition/e/9780762403691/

I'm a fan of Etsy and they specialize in a lot of vintagey stuff so you may find some 60s/70s/80s music themed stuff there. It's all unique and make great gifts.

They have a ton of Beatles related stuff apparently! Check it out:
http://www.etsy.com/search?search_submit=&q=beatles&noautofacet=1

An iPod is always an excellent idea for a music lover but it's up to you to try and feel out how he'd react you getting him something expensive. But like another poster suggested, Nanos and shuffles are also great options! You can even get a Beatles skin for it!

http://www.wirelessemporium.com/p-ms-1177598-the-beatles---band-music-skins-for-apple-ipod-shuffle.asp?source=gbase

Whatever you get him, I'm sure he'll love it :)

oops, sorry guys wrong section but please answer anyway!!

Answer
I am guessing you're doing a theme like "You're 70 years old." But why not take a different spin on it and do a 70's themed gift? How about a lava lamp? It would be funny, go along with the number 70, and could be used as a centerpiece!

You could also do 70's music, 70's inspired jewelry, etc.

My Grandfather 70th birthday Ideas what to get also as a 2nd gift i'm doing a shrit ideas for a saying?

Sondra

ok I wanna get him something but haven't a clue.So any ideas??? I know he's retire milatry guy and works in his farm alot. Also I've got some left over iron on stuff from son party so I'm doing a picture on a shirt of him and my son. Which he loves. He took my son at his party away from the rest of the crowd and hide behide a tree and just played for a while. And my sister got some great pictures of the two of the together. My son is his only great grandson. And So I wanna put the picture on a shirt with some cute little saying. I know some will say he's never gonna wear the shirt or stupid answers like such. I don't care if he wears it or not its just something sweet I wanna do. Also we don't call him grandfather or grandpa. He is called Pappa Joe. Because grandparents spilt and remarried.

i'd like whatever the saying on the shirt be something cute not about his age though. Like world great

Answer
As far as a gift goes, what my Dad really enjoyed when he turned 80 was the gift we got him for just pennies! We got the microfilm copy of the newspaper from his hometown on the day he was born! We made copies and put the pages on butcher paper. He was fascinated to see what had been happening on the day he was born. How much houses were selling for, what stores were having sales, who died on that day and did he recognize the names, what the weather was like, etc. etc.
As far as the shirt goes, how about a picture of the two of them on the back, and one of just your son on the front. Underneath your son's picture put "I love my Pappa Joe!" I'll bet he DOES wear it!!

Pokemon birthday gift ideas.?

Ryan

Okay, so it's my girlfriends birthday next week, and she really likes pokemon.
So does anyone know where i can get anything pokemon in oklahoma?

Some ideas:
Pillows, slippers, shirts, dolls.

Anything like that.
Please help.

Answer
Try stores like target or wal-mart. also a new pokemon game for the ds came out just this past sunday. there's soulsilver or heartgold. if she has one already and enjoys playing the games enough you could get her the other one.

eta: the game is actually only $35 on the ds, not $70 like the person below said. and nintendo ds' are only $120, not 200.

70th Birthday Ideas for Dad?

A

My dad is turning 70, yes 70, next Tuesday and I have yet to get a gift. I'll be leaving for college in half a year so I thought about getting something for him that is a token of my gratitude because he's a single parent and God knows I haven't been the easiest teenager to raise. So any ideas? Something that could be made or bought or modified?

Answer
Happy 70th Birthday to your Dad! Wow!!

A scrapbook may be a good idea. If you can get pictures of him through out his life, you could "interview" him and include his memories and thoughts and stories. You could also get stories from other members of the family to include. Or instead of making it a scrapbook of his life, you could make one of his cherished family members from when he was young Or you could make it about how he has affected your life. Either way, it's the stories and memories are what will truly make this a very special gift.

Remarkable Memories designs scrapbooks with photos and memoriabilia provided by you and has it printed, bound into a photobook and shipped directly to you or you can just purchase the digital files and have it printed on your own. Check out RMScrapbooks.shutterfly.com or RMScrapbooks.blogspot.com for ideas or help putting this together.

70TH birthday party theme ideas?

NONILADY

I'm looking for a unique birthday party idea for my very spry father. All of his siblings live more than 6 states away and aren't in the best of health so this will be a party with children, grandchildren and friends. He has a great sense of humor and is very sentimental and I am looking for something that will be capstone of his wonderful life so far. Any help would be welcomed.

Answer
Someone else on y/a had the idea of giving her father a box of fun gag gifts because he had a great sense of humor and she wanted all the guests to laugh when he opened them...but she didn't know how to pull it off:

My suggestion was to print off this song by the legendary Julie Andrews (which was written for her 69th birthday) and pass it out to all the guests to sing to her father....and THEN he could open up the box of gag gifts and have it labeled "My New Favorite Things"....here are the lyrics>>>

One of the musical numbers she performed was 'My Favorite Things' from the legendary
movie 'Sound Of Music'.
Here are the lyrics she used:

(Sing It!) -
If you sing it, its especially hysterical!!!

Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd
that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores.

Your theme for his party could be simply "My Favorite Things"....and make the party all about him and what fads or favorite things he took a liking to over the years--and you could throw in some new ones :D.

Any tailgating stuff for his favorite driver is always cool. Also a nice pad to sit on in the bleachers, if that is where he is sitting. Congrats to your dad for turning 70.

How do I throw a 30th Birthday Party for my single friend?

Help me ou

My single girlfriend is turn 30 this year. Does anyone have an clever ideas for decorations or a theme?

Answer
I'm single and also turning 30 this year. Hey, maybe you're my friend and this party is for me! ha! just kidding... ;)

If she's anything like me, and dreads turning 30, the last thing I want is to have people rubbing my new age-bracket in my face. Who wants to be reminded of how old they are getting when they're still single? So forego any "Over-the-Hill" type of decorations, or anything referring to "Old Maid" (I absolutely HATE that term!!!) Here are some parties that she may like:

-Honestly, I think a dinner party with her closest friends would be the best. Make reservations at her favorite restaurant and make a fun night of it. Take pictures!
-If she hates the thought of turning 30, do a "Happy 1st Anniversary of turning 29" party. Have 29 pink candles and 1 white candle decorating a white-frosted cake.
-Decorate the party like the 70's since that was the year she was born and have everyone wear 70's attire and play 70's music. Have 70's style posters decorating the room and maybe a history board of pictures of her growing through the years.
-Or if she's a fan of the 80's, throw an 80's style party, same idea as the 70's version...
-Or perhaps if she's a movie buff, have a party of "Big Movie Hits of the Last Three Decades". Have everyone dress up as their favorite movie character over the last 30 years.
-Maybe have people bring inexpensive gifts in thirty's. Thirty candy bars, thirty birthday cards about turning 30, a mixed CD with 30 songs on it, etc. Let your guests be the creative ones too.
-Murder mystery parties are awesome.
-Perhaps if you and her close friends can afford it, go on a road trip somewhere and celebrate. Vegas, Atlantic City, etc.

I don't suggest strippers or strip clubs. To me, that's fun in your early 20's. Turning 30 is a big step and the party shouldn't be reduced to something silly, unless she would like that...? *shrug*

***The most important part: Whatever you decide to do, invite men and women. If any of your guests have any potentional, great single men, bring them along! The more the single men, the merrier, right? ;)

Good luck! I'm sure she (and everyone else) will have a blast! And how thoughtful of you to do this for her! :)

What would be a fun birthday present to get my niece who is turning 2 in a few weeks? She loves the color orange, watching musicals, singing, and seems to be an active little girl? I was looking into underoos (Kids underwear that was popular in the 70's and 80's), but they are hard to come by. Can anyone else think of any fun ideas? Thanks in advance!

Answer
There is this awesome keyboard at Target that is in the shape of a cat and is actually orange. My daughter received it for her birthday. It plays all kinds of songs, beats, different sounds when you press the keys (like a cat meow, meow in different tunes). I love giving it as gifts now. It is ~$27.

What could I get my grandfather who is in his 70's for his birthday?

2/20/2009

He isn't into the new technology. He loves comedy and the show Everybody loves Ramone (sp?), but couldn't work a dvd player. I'm planning on getting him lotto tickets as he is a big lottery player. He is just learning how to use the internet, but wouldn't be interested in trying to further learning how to use it. Any ideas? Gift certificate maybe?

Answer
A gift certificate to his favorite restaurant.

What kind of gift should I bring to my neighbors 50th birthday party/barbecue?

Q. We have only lived in our house for about 4 months. We are friendly with our neighbors, but have never spent any substantial time with them. We have been invited to the wifes 50th birthday/end of summer barbecue/party. What is an appropriate gift to bring? A plant? A bottle of wine? Flowers?

A. Any fifty year old person would appreciate the humor in receiving and will certainly use a good magnifying glass. I use this idea as a standard gift for my friend's 50th, 60th and 70th birthday gifts. It is a light hearted, humorous, useful and necessary gift, indeed.

What is something cool I could get for my 10 year old brothers birthday?
Q. He's turning 11 in a couple of weeks and I want to get him something fun.
He usually plays video games inside all day, but I want to get him something he can actually play with or do outside with his friends. It's winter so it might be cool to get him something snow-friendly.

Any ideas?
I'm putting a $70 budget on the gift. Thanks(:
Ehenever I ask him he either says "IDK" or some game for xbix.

A. Why not a dinosaur fossil dig kit? I bought this for my nephew, he LOVED it and he's a video game addict.. :)

What should i do for a 50th birthday party?
Q. Ok so my friend is setting up a 50th birthday party for her mom she is 15 and she wants it to be realy great

A. 1. an over the hill party, love the idea posted about making it all dark and the vultures and stuff...but another way to do this is to go for the funny..buy her an over the hill tshirt and or cap that she has to wear throughout the party...there are tons of them...I'll post some links later for ideas....but most places have those tshirt vendors in the mall a lot of the time you can get great things for over the hill gifts there...you could have some over the hill games(games typically associated with the "up in age crowd"...I posted 2 links for ideas...with a little imagination any of them could be adapted to fit your friend's mom's party

you could do a 50's fad party ...if her parents are still alive talk to them about the crazy fads she took part in as a kid and see if you can find some of the clothing or whatever fads that she did and have everyone come in 50's fad style....get music that she grew up listening to..do all the dances she did etc etc...have candies and snacks from the 50's..again posted some links...and again with a bit of imagination..the ideas could be adapted...for example one 50's fad was panty raids..on the invites you could specify that people bring an extra pair of underwear....at the start of the party they have to put the panties somewhere on their body..in a pants pocket, in a breast pocket, pinned to their body...and people have to steal each others underwear.....the one with the most at the end of the party wins a small prize

a timeline party...make a video of all her friends and family memories of her growing up.....all the important moments of her life and play it at the party......again you could have decades of snacks...some from the 50's, 60, 70's etc right through to today....have a wall in the party room decorated with her life....from birth to today....baby photos....embarrassing teenage photos...prom...wedding, children's photos, etc etc..have photos of all the "hot" artists of the 50's and movie actors etc etc

whatever she ends up doing sounds like it will be lots of fun
