I'm throwing my mom a gold and diamonds themed party for her birthday in April. Does anyone have any extra ideas or suggestions they could give? Thanks in advance.

Answer
Clear diamond gems (plastic or glass) in footed pedestal balloon glass with inner straight glass and gold candle. White tablecloth, diamond ring napkin holders. Gold foil covered bricks with helium balloons above eyesight level as centerpiece on table, curling gold ribbons dangeling down. Clear plates on gold chargers, stemmed clear goblets with gold ribbon touches.
Failing to obtain gold chargers-- use gold runners down table.
Crystal or cut glass serving pieces with gold trim if available.
Rich, yellow gold flower arrangement with sparkling crystal looking bow.

Pictures of mom in various ages & activities in golden frames arranged on golden tree of life. Could do a cake decorated like a golden crown with icing jewels. Make your mom a "Queen for a Day" for her birthday. Spa, hair, makeup, gift certificates for favorite activites in Golden envelopes.
Grand kids or siblings or friends can get in the act with coupons for yard racking/mowing, laundry, dishes, other house hold duties, trash pickup, meals at eating places, movies, electric, gas, shopping, etc. Type of coupons would depend on mom's needs.

What is a good gift to get for a 1 year old on his golden birthday?

My friends baby turns one tomorrow, and I'm not sure what to get him. Any ideas...

To me, the best thing you can do, since 1 year olds HATE opening presents (at least both of mine did) I would recommend you pick a dollar ammount to spend and ask the mommy what SHE needs for him... she made need diapers or those huge boxes fo wetones, she may want to have some sippy cups or bath supplies. Carrying for a baby is expensive, and most mommies appreciate the thought.
Clothes can be a good idea, but again, ask the mommy what he needs. He may have a ton of winter clothes but no summer clothes, or need a new jacket or something.
OH, and we have a savings account for our kids that we started when they turned ONE, but were saving for long before then, maybe a little money would be a good option... the great thing about this age is they haven't yet learned what TOYS really are, and are still exploring.

Tell the little guy, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! and Good Luck to you.
