Best Friend 30th Birthday Gift Ideas?

solobleu

Our friend's b-day is coming up & we r trying to put a nice package together for her w/30 gifts. So far we have:
- VS bra - she tried it on but never bought it
- Matching panty: single girls must have matching undies ;)
- VS gum
- VS mint
- Travel size hand lotion
- Fancy chapstick
- Nalgene water bottle
- Ben & Jerry's gc - for the kid in us!
- Chocolate - next to diamond's, a girl's best friend :)
- Small wine bottle - to drink on her own when she wants
- Black pants - she is very tall and those are hard to find
- White t-shirt - as basic as the black pants
- Perfume
- CD with all her best songs
- Group picture
- Candle
- Car refreshner
- Favorite DVD
We have a spa date and dinner (but don't want to count it towards the 30) and though she'll be very happy as it is we think some items could be better. Some thought of shows, sports, concerts but that would get even more $. Essentially we are out of creative/thoughtful ideas, can you help? Thanks!
P.S. No porn :)
She is a nurse so she won't understand Office Space (though I love it!) - I'll check out your other movie suggestion.

In terms of the smell, she doesn't smell, but LOVES to smell good (she is always impeccable and smells amazingly).

Thanks!

Answer
How about a DVD of "The Big Chill." I didn't really understand or appreciate the movie until I was over 30. It is a great film. Does she work in typical corporate america? Include "Office Space" as well. A hilarious cult film.

30th Birthday Ideas?

Answer Gir

My boyfriend's 30th birthday is coming up. I would like to throw him a surprise party, but unfortunely I don't have the time or money to do so. He's got a lot of friends and co-workers.

So, I'd rather just do something intimate with his immediate family (parents, grandparents, siblings and nieces/nephews) That's about 11 people.

Currently, we do not live together. Where I live now is just not accomdating to that many people (plus, I have 2 roommates-i would not want to displace them for a few hours)

I was thinking about organizing dinner for everyone. I would love to pay, but I don't know if I could afford that.

Is it rude to ask everyone to pay for their own meals? Or should I just save up and buy everyone dinner?

What can I do? Ideas for accomdating a small get together for 11 people?
I'm not a fan of potluck, plus I would not want to ask my boyfriend's elderly grandmother or mother to make dishes. The only people left would be his one sibling. Kids can't make potluck dishes.

Answer
Most people know that not everybody can afford to pay for their dinner. Find an affordable place that will allow you to reserve a special area for that date. Let them know that you are sending invitation and will give them three day notice on the amount of people who will attend. Send invitations to the guest and let them know up front it's a surprise. In the invitation advise of where, when, time, and you might even get the establishment to give you a sample of the menu that you can copy to send with the invitation. If it's a buffet, then you can just simply write in the invitation the price of the buffet. In brackets put this (wish I could treat everybody to dinner, but my budget won't allow...this is dutch treat.)

For his gift do something simple. Make a photo albumn of pictures from his past...maybe 30 pictures...one of each year o fhis life. Write a small journal of 30 of his best qualities (that have made you care so much for him) and have in this albumn. He will love your caring thoughts more than anything else. Oh, have a nice sheet cake at the restrauant for everybody and balloons tied to the chairs.

His family will be so thrilled that you allowed them to be part of this celebration and shouldn't mind paying for their dinner. I've gone to many parties and paid for our part. I never gave it a second thought. My teenage daugthers go to birthday parties for their friends and they are at very fancy, expensive places. Each teen pays for their own meal. Most people just can't afford anything else.

Have fun and enjoy the special evening with your boyfriend.
