canceled due to high winds. I need a romantic, fun idea for this evening for my fiance. Something she would not expect.

Answer
Picnic in the park. Flowers delivered to the house or where she works, or at college if she's in college. Fill a room with balloons. Literally top to bottom wall to wall full of balloons.

What should I do for a 12th birthday party?

My cousin is celebrating her 12th, and I need some party ideas. I was thinking LaserQuest then sleepover. Or a hike and swim at our lake, then a sleepover. Anything with a sleepover. Something not to expensive please! Thanks!

The 5 Ingredients to a Great Birthday Party

1. Food
Food brings people together. Whether it is birthday, wedding, funeral or graduation, one thing is for sure... there will be food! Serving food at a Children's birthday party does not have to be extravagant. The less complex the meal, the more enjoyable. Preparing traditional hot dogs and hamburgers is safe, easy and liked among all ages. The only other things you have to remember is, potato chips, condiments, a fresh veggie tray, and some disposable plates.

Don't forget the birthday cake. I recommend making your own with the birthday child. Don't stress about the cooking experience, the directions are on the box.

2. music
There is a simple solution to music at your child's birthday party. If you don't already have an ipod go get one. While you are there, pick-up an ipod dock that will play music through small speakers. These are perfect for backyard and indoor use. Utilizing an ipod is a perfect solution because you can create a "playlist" that includes a selection of music appropriate for the party.

If all this ipod and itunes stuff is too futuristic for you, simply ride your 2-horse wagon over to Best-buy and pick up a party mix CD.

3. Friends and Family
Friends and family are a necessary ingredient to a birthday party. Not only do they enhance the atmosphere, but they bring gifts, food, and most important; conversation and laughter.

Since birthday parties typically happen on the weekends, let your guests know about the party as far in advance as possible.

4. Games
There are two options to having games at your party. The first is do a little research and come up with your own. Did you know you can print "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" from several websites? The second option is to contact your local party company for more serious games. Some local party rental companies carry Giant Chess boards, Spin Art, Sandy Candy, and random carnival game booths.

Games also include inflatables and jumpers. It is always better to rent from a reputable company who is licensed with your city. Some party jump companies have packages that can make party planning a lot less work for you.

5. Entertainment
Entertainment comes in many shapes and sizes. Depending on your wallet size you can invite balloon sculpting clowns, face painting clowns, juggling clowns and game leading clowns. My recommendation is to have a visiting character. It is becoming more and more popular for children's parties and it is very affordable. Depending on the theme of your party you can have a Spiderman, Disney Princess or themed character deliver balloons to your child's party and take pictures with the children.

Sorry ladies, I do not think Tarzan is good option for any child's party.
