Twelve year old children are becoming a bit more mature and like to think that they have some control over their surroundings. They are always saying, "I'm almost a teenager" or "I'm not a kid anymore". So in this instance, give him the opportunity to grow up. The gift you can give to him is to let him plan his own day. Give him an index card and tell him that he can choose 5 things. But the stipulation is that the 5 things must tie together. He must be able to tell a story about the 5 things, and the story must include him as the main character.
As he writes or tells the story, this will give you some idea of what he is interested in. And if you listen carefully, you can also see which is most important to him. You can choose all 5 thing to do (or give him) or a few of them. Either way it goes, he will be happy, and he will get what he wants.

This site has easy instructions for folding dollars into dollar signs ( other designs are also offered)

You could also tape the bills end to end. Fold them one over the other, and place in a wrapped box. Cut a slit in the top and pull a small part of the top bill out ( like you would do a Kleenex) Make sure the box is securely closed, allowing this to be the only way to remove the bills. NOTE; I would change the bills to all ones.
