PARTY ideas for a boys 8th Hawaiian Surf Pool Party!!(invites, menu, decorations ect...)?

YoMomma

Hi all, I am having a Hawaiian/Surfer Pool party for my sons 8th birthday. Our pool is very big w/pool house and kitchen, bathroom so no one needs to go inside! I have grass skirts and blow up palm trees w/the coolers in the bottom. I want to make inexpensive invites but am clueless on cool ideas. I also need a menu that's kid friendly but tropical. And decoration ideas. Also any games you can think of or party tips. I hope to have between 30-50 kids. Oh and cheap gift bag ideas too! Basically I just need a bunch of ideas lol! Thanks So much!

Here's a link with great pool games and out of water games>>

Party bags can include: Lifesaver candies, sunglasses, lip balms, any kind of candies like Skittles or things from snack packs, lollies, anything to do with fish, sharks, etc on pens, notepads, keychains or tattoos----you can also get a few beach balls, permanent markers for everyone to sign and draw names for door prize as souvenir gift to take home---draw names for a kid's sand pail filled with beach towel, beachcomber's hat, sun lotion.

Decorations: leis, tiki torches as others have mentioned....grass skirt around table, bamboo mats, centerpiece of pineapple, mangoes, lemons, limes, coconuts and bananas.

Foods: fruit kabobs on short party picks stuck into half a melon on a plate to hold them for display. Can make easy ones using pineapple chunk from a can, a grape, and a maraschino cherry.

Chocolate covered frozen bananas with sprinkles on a stick

Goldfish crackers (get some plastic fish platters from party store for serving foods).

Cupcakes with little umbrellas, a striped gum for a beach chair and a gumball for a beach ball on a sandy beach....see here>>

I don't know if you're having pizza for the kids (do they like ham & pineapple one?)...

Have Doritos, Cheetos, dips, Triscuits, cheese
Here's recipe for HULI HULI CHICKEN:

9-12 pounds chicken wings, thighs, and breasts pieces

Sauce Ingredients:
¼ cup Frozen pineapple juice concentrate
1/3 cup White wine
½ cup Chicken broth
¼ cup Shoyu/Soy Sauce
¼ cup Ketchup
¼ Teaspoon powdered ginger or a pinch of fresh ginger
1-2 drops Worcestershire sauce

Wash chicken parts and pat dry with paper towels. Mix all sauce ingredients in bowl. Brush over chicken parts. Grill over barbecue for about 40 minutes. Turn and baste with sauce until chicken is done. Serves 10-12 people as a main course.

Here's also TERIYAKI BEEF OR CHICKEN

TERIYAKI BEEF OR CHICKEN

3 to 4 pounds of beef or chicken
Teriyaki Sauce:
2/3 cup shoyu (Asian soy sauce)
1/2 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons sherry or white wine
3 clove garlic, minced
1 inch piece ginger, crushed
3 stalks green onion chopped fine
1 teaspoon Chinese 5 spice (optional)

Mix all ingredients. Soak beef 4 hours or overnight in sauce. Bake in shallow pan. Turn pieces over and marinate with sauce. Ten minutes before turning heat off, pour rest of shoyu mixture. Serve with chopped green onions and Chinese parsley. Bake 325 degrees for 1 hour or less depending on how well you like your meat. Medium is best. This is also a great for grilling on the BBQ. Makes about 6 servings.
Grilled Teri-Beef and Teri-Chicken Sticks: A great way to make teriyaki beef or chicken when grilling is to slice the meat into thin strips before marinating. Then put on bamboo skewers and grill for 2-3 minutes per side. The meat comes out tender tasty and is easy to eat right off the stick.

Add salads or mac and cheese..whatever the kids will eat

Drinks: either make a blue ocean punch (recipes online) and use gummi fish in ice to float or use gummi fish in cubes to put into cups. Can also add frothy sherbet to punch to create "waves" effect like the ocean.

INVITES>>make a surfboard and or copy one...have it open to read the particulars...

Birthday party treat bag ideas?

Mama77

My daughter is turning one in about three weeks. There will be about 15-20 kids of various ages from about 3-12. I'm looking to keep the expenses down but did want something to hand out. It could be a treat type of bag but doesn't need to be that at all. I want them to leave with something fun or tasty or something along those lines but not the standard "go to the dollar store and load up on a bunch of junk they'll play with for about 30 seconds and then toss" type of stuff.

Any ideas??? :) I'm not worried about this matching her theme either. The theme is for her but this is for the bigger kids.

Answer
You could always hand out silly bandz, which are now getting popular. You can also hand out little treats and candies like mini Hershey's. You can get them little notebooks and pencils, or maybe you'd want to give out small $5 gift cards to the local ice cream place.
For my daughter's first birthday I handed out non-toxic jewelry like bracelets and rings. I also gave out mini basketballs for the boys and hand lotion for the girls.

Happy birthday to your daughter!
