what would be good birthday plans for my husband?

Q. his birthday is in two days. we're a young couple in our mid-20's. i've come up with dead ends and/ or running out of ideas. there are no sporting events he would like to go to that are around the date. we need it to cost LITTLE to NO money (like $30 and under). the typical dinner and a movie will NOT work, it needs to be something fun and creative. we have two small kids so something preferably out of the house. we live in missouri and traveling is not an option. last year i had a surprise bday party at hooters when the broncos played that night. the year before we went to st louis for the weekend to the casinos. i feel like i have to compete with these prior years, but this year we have to keep it dirt cheap. i know he would be hurt if i didn't do anything so i at least need to get him a gift or make plans, but i really have no idea this year. please help!
jessie H- it's not so much that we're comparing bday plans from the past, i guess what i meant to say is i wanted some ideas on how to make it just as fun as years past, but in a more creative way this year since the money was a little tighter the week around his bday. i know he wouldn't mind if it had to be cheap at all! he's not that type. i was just hoping to hear from people something other than candle light dinner, although VERY cheap, we do that all the time anyway.

A. I don't know what the weather is like there, but if it's nice, you could go on a picnic. Make a really nice meal and bring some champagne. Go for a hike after wards?

Or could you have a BBQ at a friends house? Have over all his close friends, have a chill evening.

Or have the kids stay over with the grandparents, and have a romantic evening at home. Dinner, candles, lingerie ;).

What movies to watch at a sleepover party?
Q. what movies can i watch in 2011? im having a sleepover really soon, and i dont know what to get to watch that i think everyone will like. can u please suggest where to buy the movie, what movie to buy, and if we should buy a scary movie, comedy, family movie, and teen movie.

How soon did you create your baby registry?
Q. I am only 7 weeks pregnant and can't stop thinking about the baby shower! I know it is obviously too soon to create one - I want to at least know the sex of the baby.

So I'm just wondering, at around which week did you create your baby registry?

A. At the risk of ofending everyone here, I didn't and have no intention of doing it - I think it is a horrible gift grab. In fact, I had to finally snap on the obnoxious Sears registry lady who seemed totally offended I was not going to register, especially there! I told her my husband and I can afford everything we need and would prefer if people would just buy some diapers and formula and take that to the food bank - that shut her up! My husband and I are older and financially stable and I hate the idea of registering, giving people the impression they need to buy us something. I have purposely bought everything we need in an attempt to avoid the whole shower thing - so far it's worked! Obviously that is not the case for everyone, especially young couples just starting out. I have always bought baby gifts for friends and coworkers because I wanted to, not becuase of what was dictated to me by a registry. The registry thing is totally getting out of hand - birthdays, christenings, having their first poop, it's ridiculous. That's is just my opinion though. Congrats on your pregnancy!
