Present Ideas for Best Friend's Sweet 16?

So I need gift ideas for my best friends birthday. It is coming up soon, so concerts, and other big events won't work. She is a runner, low-maintance, doesn't ever spend much on herself, and so I want to suprise her with something awesome! Last year, we went and got pedicures together, so that's out. All ideas are appreciated!!

AHH! two of my friends are twins, and i play soccer lax and track with them!
I got them/made tye dye half cab socks and sports bras, really cute water bottles and a few pairs of running shorts (we love running shorts) get her running shorts.

at my school, people tie balloons to your backpack on your birthday so everyone knows. and brownies, cupcakes, cookies, ect. also, really early in the morning, go to her house and chalk her driveway, and tp/streamer her house (get parents permission!) and surprise her with breakfast--we usually do smoothie and donuts. On my birthday, i woke up to 6 of my friends banging pots and pans and singing happy birthday. at like 5 am. it was AWFUL but great and really thoughtful. :) then we went to breakfast

Okay, so it's my 13th birthday party, and my theme is lime green and zebra stripes. I need ideas for party decorations and gift bags and etc. The cake is going to be [so I hope] 2 tiers, with pure lime green with polka dots on the top and zebra stripes on the bottom. I need decorations that will match the cake and theme. Thanks for the help!

not sure how serious you so but here are some ideas that he could appreicate: Go for the sporting goods gift card or if he has a favorite team memoribilia from them is good. Even take him to a pro base ball game. My daughter gave her boyfriend when he turned 18 a surprise party at Hooters. I think that was a huge sacrifice for her! She also baked him a cake. Good luck!

Something around or under 30 dollars. I don't want to get her gift cards. that's boring! Nothing like super sentimental becuase i already did something like that for christmas. My friend bought me a fair ivy surprise package subscription and i loooooved it--I really like surprises and mail. I'd never heard of it before so I felt pretty cool being the only one of my friends to get one.

Its also neat cause I got a new surprise package every month so it felt like she was constantly buying me new sweet things :)

Q. I am trying to go on a leadership trip with my school's gifted program to Columbia University this summer. It cost around $1600 and is a 6 day trip in New York City. I just need some ideas that my friend and I can use to raise that money.

Grocery bagging, candy selling, gift wrap sell, and gift wrapping holiday gifts, birthday gifts,, car wash, detail car, house cleaning, cooking, babysitting, leaf raking, snow shovel, personal shopper,, chauffeur, dog walker, pet sitter, house sitter, tutor, senior companion, errand runner, fruit and nut picker, usher at local theatre.

You could call around and see who locally sponsors scholarships, and funds for academic support. Churches are good too.

And lastly .....set up a spot in a ladies room with a designer fragrance, mints, gum, kleenex, and stuff.... if a club will allow. Don't forget to take all the paper towels and make us pay for free stuff lol.

What are some cheap table decorations for a birthday dinner?

Its my mom's birthday and I am going to suprise her with a big homemade meal. I make dinner alot but I want this to be special so I want to set a really pretty table. I can't afford to spend a bunch on table decorations. Do you have any inexpensive ideas, or even some homemade ideas?

You could put apples in a bowl and insert a flower here and there between them (daisies are good)...they don't have to be real ones...find the prettiest bowl you have (it doesn't have to be big).

Another idea: you can float a tea light candle in it's little tin in water...you can tint the water with food coloring. If you have a tall clear glass vase or container, then you can decorate the outside using ribbon tie...can add feathered plumes behind the bow....or glue a flower in the center of the bow...have ribbon ends trail down gracefully.

Set your decoration on a mirror --it will reflect the light nicely.

If you have cloth napkins (or even make your own by cutting 12 inch squares from fabric, make fringe ends or cut with pinking shears)...here's a site for some different ways to do the napkins>>

things to use for tablecloth: a cloth shower curtain (cleaned of course), a sheet, extra fabric. If no tablecloth...make placemats from cut fabric....add a runner down the length of the table...and you can do one across the other way, too.

Another homemade centerpiece idea using food item: artichokes with stems cut off and bottoms cut even so they stand...smash pointy ends down on counter to open up the choke...you may have to cut out some middle or press it good and open to fit a votive candle holder in there (you may have to cut up from bottom to make it fit)>>just press snugly in...add tea light and set it on a mirror...do a couple of them. Make sure choke is balanced and sits flat on surface...trim off bottom to do this. (This is really part of a vignette that involves standing up asparagus with bows on them on mirrors, too...and a low vase filled with water and various leafy greens placed in it to fill it up..including pieces of broccoli crowns. Using white vases make for a striking contrast..or any light color really)---the leaves flop over and some stand up and it looks really pretty with all the greens in there from the supermarket..:D. But you don't have to do that much!!

EDITING to add: I forgot another one: Take a place setting and wrap a ribbon both ways around it so that the tie ends up on top (like wrapping a gift)...have dinner plate, flat salad/bread plate, bowl then roll a napkin up and place it lengthwise up and down on the bowl....THEN tie the ribbon over that so that it looks like one pretty package>>>can tuck a note just under the bow with name card on it...or a flower...or leave just like that. This is easy to do, is cheap...and makes a striking impression....(just be careful when "wrapping"..take your time).

What do I get my boyfriend of 8 months for Christmas?

My bf is 14 (turning 15) and I have absolutely no idea what to get him for Christmas. I'm 13 by the way. He's really into running (he runs cross country and track), we watch a lot of movies together, he plays a lot of video games, he also really likes music, and makes you-tube videos... if that helps. His birthday is also a couple days after Christmas and I want to get him something for that too... (I don't really want to do a combined gift)... What should I get him for both?

Guys usually like electronics so you can never go wrong with that. Thinks like ipods, ipads, computers and video games are always a sure hit.

However I suggest 4 presents total, one "cool" present and one "sweet" present, my girlfriend does this and it always works (so a total of 4, 2 for x-mas, and 2 for his b-day)

why 2 presents you ask? well it seems like a lot in his eyes, you bought something he thinks it's cool which appeals to his mind, and you took the time to do something sweet which appeals to his heart.

For the "cool" category, if you can afford it an ipad, or an Xbox Kinect might be a good choice. However you mentioned that you are 13 so you might not have the cash to buy him some cool electronics but there are things such as accessories for those electronics you can get.

For example you can buy him a new video game for his x-box or playstation, you can get him a new controller as well. You guys like movies so maybe buy him his favorite move on DVD, or one that he has been dying to see.

Since he is a track and cross country runner maybe a new track suit (shorts or shirt) might do the trick.

For the "sweet" category you don't need to spend money at all. you can do a collage of pictures of you too. a drawing if you can draw. a sweet letter, something that took time and thoughtfulness to do.

A combination of those too things would be an excellent choice. You seem like a smart and sweet girl so im sure that with some thought you can do it all for under $50 if you dont have the cash.

My two best friends are boys and whenever their birthdays come around, I never know what to get them. Any Ideas for there 13th birthday? One of them is crazy, silly, and always making others laugh. He also loves playing the piano. The other one is like your average teenage boy who loves running, movies, video games, etc. Any Ideas???

I used to have the same problem with my two best guy friends. Hats are the way to go, if they have a favorite sports team, there are plenty of sporting stores that have really cool looking hats of all sorts to fit each boys style. Movies are always a great gift as well. Maybe if there is a new movie that just came out on dvd that one of the boys really wanted to see you can buy him that. Gift cards may seem too simple but honestly they are wonderful gifts for boys. That way you are guarenteed they will like thier present because they get to buy what they want when they want it for example his piano books or video games. If they have i-pods...itunes gift cards are always a good gift too. Every boy loves candy, i've learned that one. Oh, you can even get them shirts from thier favorite clothing brands...preferably a sports shop for the runner and whatever for the funny kid. Hope that helped a bit:)
