Can you give me a birthday gift idea for a just turned 2 year old girl?

I don't know her all that well and I don't know her parents. My son goes to Gymboree with her and I chat with her nanny. Her and my son have been labeled "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" as they just love each other. She is way advanced for her age. I know her parents are loaded so I can't imagine that she doesn't already have everything! (The nanny drives a Bentley to class...lol...seriously.)

You all are pretty creative, any ideas here? I'm thinking of calling the teacher and maybe she can give me some insight as to what she likes.

Maybe you can ask the nanny what she likes. Things I'd give a 2 year old:
-a doll
-books (always my first choice!)
-craft items (playdough, crayons, fingerpaint)
-blocks

Things I'd avoid would be clothes because if they are wealthy, they might have a certain preference for brand or style.

It really just depends what they are into. Here are a few ideas that my 5 yr. old niece has liked:
1. big arts/crafts sets (like make your own jewelry, stepping stone, painting, etc.)
2. outside toys if it's warm where they live- balls, jumpropes, tennis raquets, etc.
3. model kits for the boy if he likes building (cars, dinosaurs, radios, etc.)
4. crystal growing kits
5. educational video games like Leap Frog's Leapster (those are huge hits but pricier!)
6. bikes
7. train set for the boy (Thomas the Train is huge)
8. kids table w/chairs for them to sit at
9. kids little sofa/chairs that fold out for sitting & playing
10. a big kids kitchen set w/pretend kitchen
11. a large dollhouse
12. electronic reading systems like Tag/Leap Frog
13. Fisher Price's Cool School computer
14. computer games

this is a small list but hopefully it will spark some ideas for you! not sure about the balloon delivery- maybe try a local flower shop?

I looked at Walmart yesterday and just didn't see anything that I thought was age appropriate for a 2 year old girl. It seemed that there were baby toys then big girl toys, nothing really in between. Most of the doll houses had little pieces, she already has a play kitchen.....

We just got done birthday shopping for my daughter and she'll be two in a couple weeks. We got her a play kitchen,fake food(to go with), a baby stroller, a playdoh sea set, a strawberry shortcake movie, a princess pop up chair, view master, and some random little kids toys from the dollar store.

At two years old she still wants to play. A piggy bank that sits on her dresser wouldn't mean anything to her. A great gift for 2 year olds is one of those large floor puzzles. The pieces are very big so it's easy for a 2 year old to put it in place, and the pictures are usually really great. They can take it apart and put it back together dozens of times and never get tired of it. Play Doh is also a lot of fun for a two year old. They love the feeling of it and love punching out shapes with the included cookie cutters. Also an easel and paints. Put an old shirt of Dad's on her, give her a big fat paintbrush and pour some colors into little tin foil tart containers and she'll be so happy. The easels come with rolls of paper that attach so that you just rip off the part she's used and there's a clean paper ready for her to do another painting.
