Birthday gift ideas for a 14 year old boy?

Q. My son is turning 14, and he isn't giving out enough ideas for gifts. He has a laptop and an Xbox 360. He plays fighting/shooting games on them. We have 2 dogs, and he plays basketball, rides his bike, and plays on our trampoline. Please! I need ideas!

Answer
does he have an ipod touch? they're expensive, around two hundred dollars, but if you bought him one with a twenty five dollar gift card and some earphones he'd love you. if you consider this get skullcandy earphones, they're the best. im 14 and everyone has an ipod where i live; i got one last year and it was the best present i've ever gotten besides my ps3 and xbox.

if he doesn't have call of duty: black ops or mw3 you could get him that (though he probably already has it), but ask him if he likes it first. don't waste your money. another good game is assassin's creed 3 and elder scrolls: skyrim on xbox 360. this is my personal opinion but don't get mass effect 3 (a game that came out recently). the endings are terrible. dragonage 1 is a good game, but dragonage 2 is pretty bad. the whole entire time i tried to convince myself that its a good game like the previous but i just couldnt

anyways... i also have a dirtbike and longboard. those are mad fun, but dirtbikes are also like two hundred bucks. if he likes bikes consider a dirtbike or ask him about it

does he have a steam account (Steam is a digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications platform developed by Valve Corporation (o yea i just copied that right off wikipedia i got swag))? if he does get him a vanilla card and let him buy games on there. i just got metro 2033 and total war on pc and theyre awesome.

if he has a favorite basketball player or something, you could buy a fathead for your son (could be about 100 dollars). thatd be pretty funny if i woke up to a life size michael jordan or on my wall lol id be like damn when did that get there

if he has a favorite book series... check which ones he has and get him the next one. though maybe hes not really into books.

lastly... no kid would mind if u just gave him 100 bucks or a vanilla gift card with 100 bucks on it. that way he could buy anything on like, amazon or something he likes. it gives him choice, so its a great present.

oh, i forgot. if he likes southpark, or family guy, dvd sets are good. just anything of his favorite tv show. southpark ftw

good luck dude, im sure whatever u pick will be good mamacita

what can i get him for his birthday?

Q. he loves football, he wears alot of dress shirts and ties, he likes video games, and hes not like one of those pretty boys who wear hollister, hes mexican and he likes soccer too and idk hes a sportsy guy, but i have no idea wat he wuld want for his birthday and i am HORRIBLE at giving gifts to people. btw im a girl and hes a guy thats about to be 14 years old... comment if you need more info about him

what can i do for my boss/friend to make her birthday special?

Q. I run a law firm. My boss is an attorney that I have know for a long time, and I have been running her office for a year and a half. She really goes overboard for holiday presents. My birthday was about a month ago. A month or so before my birthday as an early b-day present she got my family tickets to a show we wanted to see but could never have afforded ($250). She elaborately decorated my office for my b-day, it was my 30th, she got me a cake, and gave me a card with cash ($30). Now her birthday is next week. I want to make it special, but I am always broke. I raise a whole family (husband who has been out of work for a year due to economy, 6 year old, myself) on my salary which is modest. She is a busy woman who has no time for hobbies or reading, she is on a diet and lost a ton of weight. She dresses well so clothes would be hard to pick and expensive, and I don't know her current size. What can I do to show that she means a lot to me? I need to come up with something meaningful yet cheap and I am stumped. Any ideas other there? So far I am thinking some nice balloons and baking a chocolate cake, but what kind of gifts can I get on a tight budget?

Answer
Aww, she sounds really nice! Maybe you can do these:
- Go to a dollar store and buy some cheap decorations, then decorate her office and have all of your co-workers sing Happy Birthday to her.
- Can you sew? If so, then maybe you could sew her a shirt or a balnket or something.
- Buy her a coffee mug that has a cute phrase on it, like " My boss is my best friend" or something like that.
- Go to an outlet store and buy her a cheap, nice looking purse or wallet.
- Buy her a calander. Does she likes cats? Then buy her a cat calander. Does she have a dog? Then buy her a dog calander. A calander is great because she can keep track of things in the office.
- Ask her what makes her calm. Is it the spa ? Is it the beach? Go buy some paint and a canvas and paint her a picture of that, so she can hang it up in her office. Whenever she is having a bad day she could look up at that painting, and think about what makes her calm, and she will think about what a great friend you are!
- Take pictures of all of your co-workers and offices and stuff and make a scrap book out of it. You can buy a disposable camera, and go to the craft store and buy some things to make a scrapbook! Maybe your son could help too!

Those are just some of the many things that you could do for her birthday, but anything that you do will be special because you are her friend! You don't have to get her something expensive, you just have to show her how much you care for her!

Good luck!!!

Hope I helped!!!!

Friend turning 30, any birthday gift ideas?

AsianEyes

Hope you can help me. I'm looking for a gift to give my friend. She's going to be turning 30 soon. We've known each other since high school, but I'm still not sure what I should get her. What's a good gift to give a 30 year old woman? Any ideas would be a big help.

P.S. If you give suggestions of a certain item, please add a favorite brand name. I'm really clueless when it comes to gift giving, so that would really help me out, too.

~Thanks!~

Answer
I think this is such a cute creative idea. I will be giving this as a gift to my boyfriend soon. You may go to Kinkos and give them a picture that both of you are in it. Then tell them to make it into a puzzle. Once you give it to her she would have to put the puzzle pieces together and it will come out to be a picture of you guys. I think its a very cute idea but I think this wouldnt be enough since you two have been friends since high school. You may go to a spa and buy 1 spa session for her or she could get a facial done.

15th birthday gift ideas?

Clara

My best friend's birthday is coming up. She'll be 15, and I want to get her something special. She has pretty much everything she really wants. She's not spoiled or anything, she just doesn't want much. I don't want to give her a giftcard or anything- I want it to be meaningful.

A little about her: she plays soccer and is in band. She's really mature loves music. I always joke that she's going to marry my brother, so I could do something that kind of shows our inside joke? I don't know. It has to be $50 or under.

Answer
you can make her a scrap book with pics of you and her and your friends and soccer stuff and her favorite team and her band and your brother. you can take a pic of their heads and put them on the bodies of people getting married. and you can also get her a gift card for i tunes or her favorite store.

this way it is a good gift cuz it includes something personal and something that she can actually use.

how to enjoy life in peace?

Q. I'm 14. I've always been the quiet, smart, serious kid that always gets work done and gets it done right. I shocked a few people when i decided to do track, even myself considering i have asthma. I'm good at percussion in my middle school's band. last year I decided to do piano lessons over the summer and resume lessons with my teacher, who's mother is a friend of my mother. I'd say I moved at a decent pace. I also tried doing B.S.A after 4 years and want to go to the end.
only problem is, I cant find peace of mind in my life. My parents are in theyr mid 50's and call me out because of the things she cant do with a boot on her foot almost constantly. I enjoy playing on mallets in band, but hate the actual drums because of how boring they are and dont produce music. I stopped piano lessons since I had to focus on school and my church but gonna start after school's out. All the kids in my B.S.A. troop are ignorant, obnoxious, and incompetent for me (theyr mostly in 6th grade, except the senoir patrol leader who is 16 and he is pretty sane). Our leader has trouble controlling them considering they are always shouting and horsing around. I stay away and avoid people because they annoy the hell out of me. I can get real p.o.ed real easy, and that aint a good idea. My science teacher is a real s.o.b (not saying that cuz my grades are bad, even tho i she barely passes me on tests and projects. she works at an alternative school and treats us like the punks at that school) and this one girl is the perfect impersonation of a little 5 year old. stupid, but not mentally retarded or disabled. I dont talk or watch sports, paulie d, or about who's dating who cuz i dont give 2 ***** about it. Cartoons are too childish and those sitcoms on disney are flat. I dont have any fancy apple products because I dont need it and some years dont need gifts for christmas or birthday since nothing good is out, and my 23 y/o sis is completely opposite. so u can say im not spoiled or demanding. Literally, I watch only watch food channel. My mind was set up even before my new HS counselor asked what my future should look like. I dont know how to "lighten up" because I dont believe my life is calm and slow with all the responsabilities I have to bare. how can I and do i ease on life?

Answer
One opinion: you have some problem with mother's love as respect and caring for you.
You've moved to a more independent activity level, and B.S.A. is a good choice for "running and completing a program."
Church-going is good; if you're able to read some Scripture in the kind of phase change that Spirit brings, that is indeed a good sign.
Your sentence pattern may indicate some mild "attention deficit" issue. Talking with the licensed counselors at 1-800-525-LOVE 24/7 re this possibility is worthwhile, as AD relates to "less peace," and may reflect your more independent activity level challenges. Their general website is http://www.klove.com and they keep good lists of conservative-re-prescribing-meds local counselors.
Meditation, gardening, and regular walks in safe nature places are good for calming and peace.

So, would suggest you "cowboy up" and talk with a counselor at the 1-800 number, and maybe read The Great Divorce, C. S. Lewis for some general Christian insight as to how people attain more calm. At 14, the pattern is to begin focusing on career (not to mention girls: kindly read For Couples Only, Shaunti Feldhahn), and some of the basics for career/study are personal calmness, happiness, balance. Please see They Call Me Coach, John Wooden, for some good guidance therewith. The B.S.A. is actually very educational and worthwhile: "Be Prepared" (and anxious for nothing, as the Scripture says) actually works well as a life motto :)

Unique Birthday Gift for 5 year old girl?

LeeAnn

My step-daughter is turning 5 in a week, and I was wondering if any of you have any unique gift ideas. She got a lot for Christmas, so I used most of my brain-power for it, and now I'm completely out of ideas for her birthday! Thank you :-)

Answer
Best thing for a 5-yr-old girl is to get her something for a tea party!
Either a build-a-bear kit as one of the invitees, or a tiara or a fancy dress-up dress or an easy bake oven.

Then make it unique! Make the cookies with her!! Help her make finger-painted placemats and help her wrap silverware in napkins. Help her make "tea sandwiches" with the crusts off and triangular.

Make a chef's/baker's hat and put a towel over your arm as her butler/maitre d'.

Take pictures or movies and make a scrapbook page for her.

A Gift Idea For A 5 Year Old Girl?

MomOf 4

My Son Has Been Invited To A Birthday Party For A Little Girl That Is Turning 5, I Am Sure That This Girl Has Everything Under The Sun, Knowing Her Family... What Would Be A Good Gift For My Son To Give Her Without Her Saying "I Already Have That"? Can Anyone Think Of A Unique Gift Idea?

Answer
I'd say hit a crafts store, like Michael's, and head to the childrens area... my 6 year old daughter and I go every month or so, and get "projects".... they're usually pretty reasonably priced, (Michael's usually has 40% off coupons in the sales paper) and offer a variety of different types of things the little girl can do herself, such as make jewelry, pottery, bouncing balls... she can "knit" herself a purse, make and decorate a jewelry box, or "sew" together a stuffed animal! the pieces are made of plastics, fabrics, etc, nothing that can cause injury, and the appropriate age listings are right there on the box. Best of all, by getting her something she can make herself, your giving her a unique gift that allows the little girl to use her imagination and create something all her own.

P.S. I also take my 10 year old niece when she's visiting us, and one of her favorite parts of our weekends is when we all do projects together! Plus, she has keepsakes when she goes back home!

Birthday present ideas?

brianna

16th birthday! I was thinking about making a "cake" consisting of a bunch of presents.
Any ideas for what to get?
-Harry Potter fan
-girly-girl(clothes,etc), but huge soccer player/snowboarder
-loves fall
-loves the Jonas Brothers
-loves to shop
-finds silly things funny (she laughs out loud at the jokes on popsicle sticks)

any ideas?

Answer
Sounds like you have PLENTY of good old-fashioned imagination already... love your idea!! The different "layers" pretty well take care of themselves: perhaps a "special edition" of the first 6 Harry Potter movies, or an interesting piece of "Potter-abilia" found on eBay or something, a wild, custom-made soccer or snowboarder t-shirt, a beautiful pressed leaf showing fall colors (depending on where you live you should be able to find a few "early bird" leaves now that Sept is upon us), preserved between sheets of wax paper, a hard to find perhaps early Jonas Brothers album, a gift certificate to her favorite shopping destination, and i am sure you can find or make some great "silly things".... you don't say whether you are her mother or a friend but either way she sure is lucky to have you in her life!!!

Harry Potter Gifts for my Friends?:)?

Q. So my friends and I are HUGE Harry Potter fans, and we're all going to get each other HP - themed gifts for our birthdays/Christmas :) I was wondering if anyone had some good ideas as to what I could get them? I'd like to do something handmade so that it's thoughtful, but also something that they'll enjoy and not fall apart:P I'd also like it not to be super expensive like over $20 or so ...:) If it helps, we're all three girls. I'm "Luna," one is "Fred" and the other is "George." Thanks :)

Answer
I did something like this for one of my Harry Potter crazed friends. You could get 2 pieces of fleece fabric, (1 of red, 1 of gold for Gryffindor), and make a blanket themed by the house colors.

I need some ideas for a birthday gift - 5 year old twins boy and girl?

Nicole

do you have any ideas?
i need to order it online with delivery and i want a gift whats super surprising and awesome =)
oh...and where can i order balloons cheap for delivery?
thank you =)

Answer
It really just depends what they are into. Here are a few ideas that my 5 yr. old niece has liked:
1. big arts/crafts sets (like make your own jewelry, stepping stone, painting, etc.)
2. outside toys if it's warm where they live- balls, jumpropes, tennis raquets, etc.
3. model kits for the boy if he likes building (cars, dinosaurs, radios, etc.)
4. crystal growing kits
5. educational video games like Leap Frog's Leapster (those are huge hits but pricier!)
6. bikes
7. train set for the boy (Thomas the Train is huge)
8. kids table w/chairs for them to sit at
9. kids little sofa/chairs that fold out for sitting & playing
10. a big kids kitchen set w/pretend kitchen
11. a large dollhouse
12. electronic reading systems like Tag/Leap Frog
13. Fisher Price's Cool School computer
14. computer games

this is a small list but hopefully it will spark some ideas for you! not sure about the balloon delivery- maybe try a local flower shop?

I need gift ideas for a 6 year old boy's birthday?

Q. My nephew is about to turn 6. I have a 3 year old girl so I'm not used to buying for boys - can any one help me out? What is "in" these days? Also, if you have educational recommendations that'd be great too because he is pretty behind on speech and other areas.....so something that would keep his interest as well as teach him would be best. Thanks!

Answer
Lego's are great, but they are not cheap.
V Tech and Leap Frog have hand held educational game systems with educational video games they can play with words, phonics, math, etc..
If he plays a sport at all get him something to that effect like a new soccer ball, basketball, bat and baseball etc.. and include a jersey of his favorite team
A play tent is always fun. My son loves his and so do his cousins who are 2 1/2 and 7 when they come over. It's a big hit and they aren't expensive. Check toy and sporting goods stores.
kids science lab type kits are usually fun and a big hit. They come in different themes. Check at an educational type toy store or book store for them. Barnes and Nobles will sometimes have them.
Apples to Apples JR. would be good for word recognition and using synonyms and opposites. It's geared for kids around his age and a little older. Scrabble Jr. is also a nice board game to encourage vocabulary and spelling skills.

Deck of "Brain Quest" trivia cards for his grade and the one after would be a good idea.
Interactive books with pop up parts or diagrams of things like castles, dinosaurs, pirates, etc..

artist sketch set birthday gift idea for my friend?

Lily_1981

My friend is having an upcoming birthday. His dream is to be in the industrial design field. He is still in art school.
Wondering what kind of gift should I get for him. I know nothing about art.
I am wondering what is the sketch set I can get. including a nice set of pencil, or whatever. any ideas? thank you

Answer
If your friend is going into Industrial Design, some sites will have class supply lists of what is needed for that curriculum. Utrecht's has a supply list for such courses. Here's the link: http://www.utrechtart.com/schools/dsp_viewkits.cfm?schoolID=2 Just scroll down to IDS, and then click on each class for their supply list. Through these supply lists, you'll be able to select items that he may need but doesn't have.

I don't want to do something like get her a gift card or go to bath and body works and buy her lotion. I want her gift to be really special this year.

Does anyone have any ideas?
Any help is appreciated!(:

Answer
Two of my friends and I always split on birthday gifts - like, the 2 who didn't have a birthday would split on the other's gift. But, what we always did was get a whole bunch of smaller gifts [lip gloss, candy, maybe a diary or cool pen, cute little things from the dollar store] and one more expensive thing [usually less than $15.00 still] and we'd put everything in some form of unique casing. Like, for my one friend we bought a dollar store cat-in-the-hat hat, and put all the gifts inside the hat as a bag. Then we all took turns putting the hat on, and taking pictures. It was always a lot of fun to get a whole bunch of unique little things [for my friend Blair, we got everything in green one year, and frogs...] and it was always fun for the person opening it, because there were so many little but thoughtful trinkets... We always had fun with it in high school.

17th birthday gift ideas???

Kryssy

I'm 17 today and I still cant decide what to tell my dad what i want since he keeps asking me. I already have a nice car, cell phone, and a laptop, and i don't want an ipod. I don't like asking for anything that costs too much even though my dad is perfectly content spending the money. I just want something that I can show to my friends and say "My dad is the best in the world!". If you can't tell, I'm really attatched to him.

Any ideas???

Answer
So I saw these really cool light fixtures that I really want, and if I can't have them somebody should lol... its a lil LED lights that attatch to anywhere in your room - on the wall, under the bed, on your headboard and come in all kinds of colors. They aren't ugly when they aren't shining or anything and they add a really cool glow to any area in your room. They're ten bucks a pop and you can find them on lakeside.com. Tell him to buy me some ;p Just kidding...
That website also has a gift where you can name someone a star for only a lil over ten dollars and it comes with a plush animal, a map with the star and you can access all about it on the internet. Talk about a gift to last a lifetime! You could look up at the sky and be like that one right theres my star, isn't my dad the best?
Actually, I'm really close to my dad too and I've always thought the best gifts were things that are very personal. He' very creative and resourceful and has been known to make me jewerly, shelving, decorations and all kinds of stuff. Tell him that he's the best gift and you just want something simple from his heart that shows how much he loves you. Its not as difficult as it sounds. For example, my dad made me this awesome bracelet that I wear almost every day and I know it couldn't cost too much. All you have to do is go to a craft store and pick up some memory wire and string it with beads and charms and that way he can personalize it. The bracelet looks like spirals on your wrist and I get compliments all the time. Its always a proud feeling when I tell people that my dad made it for me, isn't he the greatest? ;D
On the other hand, if you guys have the money to spend suggest he take you for some one on one time to some really cool place that you don't often get to go. Something you can brag to your friends about. I don't know what your into so I'll just leave that to you to see what's going on locally for you. My mom took me to the butterfly pavilion one time and that was pretty unforgetable. I have pictures of myself covered in butterflies.
Speaking of pictures, you could ask for a camera so you can fill your room with pics of your friends and family!
The possibilities are endless really, just remember the best gifts creative and original because they come from the heart.

Gift for an autistic 6 year old boy?

Q. Tomorrow I'm going to be going to an autistic 6 year old boy's birthday party and I was just wondering what I should get him? Would a stuffed animal be appropriate? All I know is that he cannot speak yet and that he is 6. Thank you for your help :)

Answer
Children with autism can benefit a lot of toys that are designed to help them express themselves and stimulate the senses. Toys that makes sound, vibrate or spin, are great ideas. Choose something colorful.
I think a good gift, is a play dough kit for it brings a great sensory stimulus. I've worked in child psychology clinic and many children were autistic, I remember that they loved playing with dough. Balls of various colors and sizes were also favorite toys.
Stacking blocks are a good gift but I would avoid Lego since it's so popular possibly someone else is already going to give it as a gift for the birthday boy. There are other types of blocks such as numbers or alphabet blocks.
Books with lots of pictures, touch-feel, pop-ups or with sounds are also great.
When I was invited at the 5th birthday party of one of the boys who attended at the clinic, I gave him 3 books: a touch and feel, a book with lots of animals' pictures and a pop-up ("Happy birthday to you!" by Dr. Seuss). Months later, when I was no longer working at the clinic, I saw his mother in a store and she told me that the little boy doesn't get tired of the books, he loves to flip through all pages of the books, again and again and again.
Hope that helps.

What do I buy for a double birthday party?

Candy Cane

I'm going to a birthday party for a 6 year old and a 4 year old. I was looking to buy one gift for the both of them. Does anybody have any ideas of what to buy them? The oldest one is a girl and the younger a boy.

Answer

Present idea for Pregnant woman?

creative ideas for a husband to give his pregnant wife for her birthday?
What is a good birthday present for a husband to give a 28 year old pregnant woman. She is also the mother of a 6 month old! Price is not an issue... The thought of an all day spa excursion has already been thought of... any other thoughts or ideas?

Answer
a gift certificate for a cleaning service to come in when ever she wants.

gift card to a maternity clothing store.

If you are sure when the new baby's birth month is going to be- maybe some kind of mommy jewelry with the kids birth stones in it- like a necklace.

I would love the spa treatment if you ask me- that would be my favorite choice!

What a nice husband you are! :)

Think Betty Crocker meets June Cleaver! My aunt is wonderful and I a stumped! We are planning a big dinner and I need to get the perfect gift. Money is always the issue so I unfourtunatly cant afford to spend more that $40 or $50. I need something nice...maybe a new gaget, kitchen/ house stuff etc...Please help!

Answer
most people at 60 have all the houshold items they want and need. and these gifts are not personal or memorable.find something she likes to do, like eat out and get a gift certificate to her favorite restaurant. a favorite hobby. perhaps you have a talent or a hobby and you could make something for her she would love that ! but, be creative. the presentation of the gift or even gift certificate is important. a nice gift bag, with some fresh flowers tucked in or something like that.does she like to stay in / go out. movie tickets, pizza gift certificates ? a small, inexpensive pendant, just from you for her, for a keepsake. most women have chains, so you dont need to buy one. a certificate for a pedicure ? if you love her dearly, you will know what she loves, and this will bring you to the gift.

Good ideas for 60 yr old birthday gifts......?

sabbafamil

Hey there!

My mom is turning 60 this year and I needed some help with ideas. She is also battling cancer (2nd time around) and birthdays mean a lot to a cancer survivor/fighter.

I want to get her a few things, but in multiples of 60. I'm not thinking any too extravagent, but I need help!

I was thinking about getting her 60 of her 6 favorite Jelly Belly's---she LOVES those. Maybe 60 X & O's (kisses & hugs) on a card, etc. Please help me to come up with more ideas! I know you people have it in you!

Thanks so much!

Answer
You could make a list of 60 of her special qualities. Strength, loving ,smile, and etc. or memories like little confetti stars. Looking at the stars when you were a child.cut out hearts and have friends and relatives write a birthday wish on each one!(60 of course)I also saw somewhere you could have them (rent) put 60 flamingos on her lawn. Anyway just a few ideas!

Bathrobe for birthday?

Q. i got a bathrobe for my birthday from my live in boyfriend and honestly I'm a little upset. I think mainly its because I am 4 1/2 months pregnant and I just kinda feel like maybe he should have gone a step above a bathrobe. Am i wrong? I'm so confused as to how I'm supposed to react. However there is a 20 year age gap and I dont know if that has something to do with it. I just need some insight on this because I don't know if this is him being like "heres a robe but I'm still not sure enough about our relationship to buy you any jewelry" or if its a genuine gift that he thought I would like and I don't want to hurt his feelings and be ungrateful.
btw I already own a really nice bathrobe which is another reason why I'm so confused. It's like why do I need two bathrobes?

Answer
Well, he's a man, so that should be explanation enough.....

Seriously men are not the best at gift buying unless you guide them in the right direction. I'm sure he thought it was a good idea.
Be grateful.
Possible you'll get a really nice push present. I suggest getting a friend or relative to approach him and help him out in that department.....

looking for good gift.?

Answer
My friend recently found out she is pregnant. It wasn't her birthday but I bought her a Pregnancy Journal they sell them at The Hallmark Store and other book stores. They are really cute, you can put pictures of your belly, dreams for the baby and other things. You fill in the questions its not a blank journal. She loved it. Just an idea though.

Can anyone help with birthday gift ideas for my husband?

Miss B

My husband is a difficult person to shop for. I need gift ideas for my husband who is under 25. Last year i took him to a NFL game, but I want to do something different this year.

Answer
Make him a birthday "pack". For example: your husband needs some new soap, ties, mabey even a new pillow, etc. Put most of the stuff he wants in a big box or two and wrap it up in a wrappin paer that "matches him".

Birthday ideas for my husband?

candace da

My husband's 23rd birthday is on the 21st of January and I have NO clue what to do for him. He's not exactly a "manly man" haha. He doesn't really have any hobbies either. We live in North Carolina and I would like to do something for him and maybe take him somewhere.

Answer
to start off, check out this gift guide for men http://www.gifts.com/ideas/him. you might also want to look at this one for guys his age http://www.gifts.com/birthday/top-gifts-for-birthday/1ohMr10aicp696n what are his interests? does he like to watch soccer? does he cook/grill (so a monogrammed steak platter might be nice)? does he like beer or wine (you could go with beer or wine of the month club)? i think you should prepare a picnic lunch for the two of you to have in a local park together http://www.gifts.com/search/product/vintage-picnic-tin-set?ideaID=1998&prodID=257959 men love home-baked goodness and this would be great quality time together. perhaps you can turn a picnic date into a monthly or yearly tradition. hope this helps! good luck and happy new year

birthday gift ideas please!!!!!!!!!?

blahblahbl

my friend is turning 21 soon. i want to get her something nice and memorable since its her 21st birthday or something useful since shes a college student and i think college students would probably appreciate useful things.i want to avoid bracelets, photo frames, and those sorts of things. also, im on a pretty tight budget. like $20 or less...ideas please:) thankyou all in advance.

Answer
um...my cousin is in college and her birthday was last month and i got her a zebra print bedset for her dorm room cuz she likes zebras. it wasnt that expensive, i think $30 or so.

hmm...or maybe a personalized snack basket. thats what my mom does. you can load up a basket filled with some of her fav treats, maybe even some homemade ones. this is great for like, finals or any time shes stressed out or needs to be energized. treats make everyone happy :)

a cell phone skin could be useful. phone skins come in tons of different colors and styles and can be easily purchased for less than $20. its the hottest and most practical way to protect a cell phone

and maybe a big teddy bear to go with whatever you get her =) that would be pretty memorable.

What should I buy or make for birthday gifts?

Maria Gall

I know this may sound rather odd, but I try to plan financially everything I do a year in advance in hopes to avoid any surprises in my checkbook. Anyways, what should I buy or make for people next year for their birthdays? I preferably want to give them a homemade gift (what are some creative ideas for homemade birthday gifts?), but if that's tasteless I'm open to almost anything.

My best friend will turn 44 years old

My brother, his girlfriend, and a friend will turn 19

Important friends will turn 21, 23, and 24

My boyfriend will turn 27

A dear male friend who's in prison will turn 23 yrs. old

A brother will turn 50 and a sister will turn 40.

My important nieces and nephews between 2-15

Daddy will turn 75 (my mom is deceased)

My other siblings and friends will receive birthday cards.

Thank you in advance as I greatly appreciate your input and advice.

Answer
Wow, organization like that is amazing (if a little scary). Only you know your friends, and your talents (some people should never bake anything for anyone), so suggestions really might not be so good.

For those that like them, how about candles? They are easy to make, all you need is some wax (even from old candles), crayons for color, string (dipped in the hot wax, curled around a pencil on one end, weighted with a coin for the bottom of the candle), scent (or unscented - some people like candles but gag @ the smell), maybe one of their favorites (can get samples sometimes, but oils work best), and a quart or half gallon waxed paper juice or milk carton. This also should prob be done in one of those disposable foil pans.

Melt the wax, adding the crayons, scent (or not). Stir. Cut off the top of the carton where it starts to fold, so that you have just the square. Rest the pencil with the string (wick) on top (the weighted end should be at the bottom of the carton. Pour a little wax in to fix the wick in place in the center of the carton. Give it a little time to solidify (about 20 min-1/2 hr. Stick the whole thing in the fridge or freezer if you want to move it along more quickly).

Get some ice cubes from the tray and fill the carton with them. Stir the wax again (the wax should be hot enough to pour). Then pour it into the carton over the ice cubes. Let it cool & set (give it a couple hrs minumum, overnight is best, or do the fridge thing. You don't want to stick this in the freezer or the water in the carton will re-ice). Peel away the carton.

The ice will have created pockets in the candle and it looks pretty cool, certainly not like a factory candle.

For your friend in prison, baked goods sound like the way to go, perhaps lots of cookies he can share. Or a cd?

Ok, I'm off to finish my Christmas shopping for this year, half of which is still undone!

Help - What to do for my GF's B-day?

Q. So my girlfriend's birthday is this weekend and she is feeling pretty down this week (and the idea of getting older isn't exactly helping her mood - although she's not that old). Anyway, I need help coming up with something to do for her. We are both outdoors people and definitely refuse to "grow up"! We don't do the whole card and gift exchange mainly because 1) we don't support a lot of the commercialism of society (ya ya I know what you're thinking 'damn hippies') 2) we're shitass broke anyway and 3) it's just way more fun doing something thoughtful, intimate and creative - however makes it harder.

For example last year, she had just moved to Vancouver from Ontario and was totally missing all the fall colours and leaves from back home. So to help her out and just do something childish for the sake of fun I went out to all the parks near our place and collected leaves, in total had something like 15 garbage bags full which I emptied into a giant pile in our backyard. I am sure I do not have to explain the glories of a massive leaf pile! Afterward I made her a dinner and we had a picnic outside enjoying the colourful artwork created by our afternoon. She loved it and now I am feeling the pressure for this year! Any suggestions?

Answer
I love Vancouver, B.C.. My dad was (he passed away a few yrs. ago at the ripe young age of 90. (I say young, becuz he had a young fun loving spirit.) I love Vancouver as up until I was in college, our family would go up to Vancouver every other year. On the opposite years our cousins would come to California.

Anyways, back to your brainstorming for ideas. Wow! What you did last year is going to be difficult to beat.

How about making up a menu of food that is all finger food. I love those little mini hot dogs when you wrap them in some bread dough & toast in the oven. They're nice on a cold nice. Also, some good chili with shreaded cheese in it is great. A nice salad to get your vegetables in is always good. Sitting by a fireplace is fun as it's always great to watch the flickering flames.

You could give her the gift of an hour of massage from you. Alot of women carry their stress in their shoulders. You could be the one who massages away all her stresses of the day. You can ask her where on her body is sore or stiff. Women always are running around doing stuff & rarely get a chance to get pampered.

Hope this was helpful. Sorry if you don't like my suggestion, but I tried.

14 yr old birthday gift ideas!?

Q. My best friend is turning 14 in a couple of days and I'm trying to find the perfect gift for her. She really likes One Direction but I'm not really sure what to get her other than a sweatshirt or something and I'm not up to spending 60 bucks on one.. She also likes lacrosse, hockey and is somewhat into makeup. If someone has any creative ideas please comment down below!!

Answer
You should get her a One Direction CD. My girl loves them too,I bought a CD on Ebay for 11 bucks. Not too cheap. Maybe a little eyeliner,as well. Other than that,if those don't float your boat, just give her a gift card to Macy's or something. Maybe a pillow?

Throwing my dad a surprise birthday party for his 60th.. Need ideas please and gift ideas too! Thanks :)?

Q. Theme ideas? (I have over OVER the hill and 1952)
Gift ideas?
Cake ideas?
Food ideas?
And music?
I was thinking number ones from each year to the current (1952 - 2012)... He likes country music new and old.. what you think? Any ideas of that??

Answer
theme: call it something like "Aged to Perfection" or "Sixty is nifty"
gift idea: Try to find and give coins from the year your father was born (look here: http://www.thingsyouneverknew.com/product/year+to+remember+19341964.do?code=QJP&AID=10273822&PID=5740936 )....a thoughtful one: create a list of 60 things you admire about father (write this list in your own handwriting), punch 3 holes on the sides of the paper and insert ribbons into the holes to it become a "book".
cake: depending on the number of guests, it might be fun to serve 60 cupcakes instead a big cake. If will be more than 60 guests you can hide another box of cupcakes under the table and restock as needed. If will be less than 60 guests just bake or order a number 60 cake.
food: serve your father's favorites foods. But some suggestions are: fresh fruits & vegetables with some dip to munch on (arrange fruits & veggies into the shape of the number 60, if possible, or just make them as kabobs), meatballs, mini sandwiches, deviled eggs, cheese balls with assorted crackers, grilled chicken wrapped around lemon grass....there are several options! For drinks, serve martinis, daiquiris, coffee and fruit punch.
music: Your idea is very good, just do a little search on it. Some singers are Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson...a new stuff: Taylor Swift. Create a playlist and burn it to a CD to play throughout the party.

Can I drop a bday gift for a Police Officer I know at the PRECINT where he works?

irine hrh

Will I get him in trouble if I drop a birthday gift for a police oficer at the precint where he works? Any ideas on how to package it so it wont really look like a gift but still look nice?
I usually dont see him so I need to give it to him tonight. (he works the night tour)

Answer
why don't you just send a fedex with a gift card or buy some prepared mc card that can be used at any restaurant send some menus that deliver as well.

i would think that you should not give a gift to ONE of the police as it may may him / her look bad . especially if the gift is more than 25.00 . i'd send something that the team of police could share . i wouldn't send home cooked food as many people follow special diets / don't know your kitchen and might be concerned to partake.

send a gift box with treats (like a Harrdy David gift basket) that can be shared or send some little cards that they can order something and enjoy together

Any ideas for a cooking/baking gift that I can give for a friend under 100 bucks?

tg

It is a birthday gift and my friend has recently (6 months) gotten into cooking/baking and would like to apply for culinary school sometime.

I may buy a gift certificate for a cooking lesson in NYC or would like to buy something cool that doesn't look like it came straight from a Target/Wal Mart aisle. But something useful, handy, etc.

Answer
Anything related to your friend's passion of cooking will be well received. I was thinking along the lines of something that she wouldn't buy herself straight away.. a beautiful Tagine for example.

Used extensively for Moroccan recipes they are beautiful as an ornament in the kitchen as well.

Team it up with some great spices and a cookbook and there is a truly unique gift!

Good luck!

Boyfriend Birthday Gift Ideas?

Q. Hellooo.

I'm having such a hard time picking out a gift for him even though I know his likes. We've been together six months, so I don't know what going to far would mean. I also don't want him to think that if I get him something expensive, I expect something expensive back when it's my birthday.

Anyways, he's a few things he likes:

He writes music - Maybe a journal to write his songs in? I'm having a hard time finding a decent one online, any ideas?

He's a huge The Beatles fan. He likes 60's/70's/80's music but he has A LOT of CD's already. Wouldn't know what he has or not.

He's 23 btw.

He plays the guitar and the bass.

He's a shy guy for the most part.

He still uses his walkman and carries his cd's with him everywhere... I was thinking an Ipod? But... Would that be too much?

I also saw this The Beatles throw that I think he might like.

Please Help! Anythiiiing anythiiing will be of help!

Thanks! :)

Answer
Since he still uses CDs, you could be all old school and make him a mix. Put songs you think he'll like and songs that remind you of the two of you.

A music journal is a nice idea. Have you seen the ones that have blank sheet music in them as well?
Like this: http://www.themusicstand.com/64-Page-Six-Stave-Student-Blank-Music-Book-p/567781.htm

Or here is a nice music themed regular journal: http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Home-gift/Musicians-Black-Notebook-Manuscript-Paper-for-Inspiration-and-Composition/e/9780762403691/

I'm a fan of Etsy and they specialize in a lot of vintagey stuff so you may find some 60s/70s/80s music themed stuff there. It's all unique and make great gifts.

They have a ton of Beatles related stuff apparently! Check it out:
http://www.etsy.com/search?search_submit=&q=beatles&noautofacet=1

An iPod is always an excellent idea for a music lover but it's up to you to try and feel out how he'd react you getting him something expensive. But like another poster suggested, Nanos and shuffles are also great options! You can even get a Beatles skin for it!

http://www.wirelessemporium.com/p-ms-1177598-the-beatles---band-music-skins-for-apple-ipod-shuffle.asp?source=gbase

Whatever you get him, I'm sure he'll love it :)

oops, sorry guys wrong section but please answer anyway!!

Answer
I am guessing you're doing a theme like "You're 70 years old." But why not take a different spin on it and do a 70's themed gift? How about a lava lamp? It would be funny, go along with the number 70, and could be used as a centerpiece!

You could also do 70's music, 70's inspired jewelry, etc.

70th birthday gift for grandma?

XxEmOKiDxX

Me and my little sister want to make or buy something for our grandma's 70th birthday, but we are not sure what, because every year we give her special soft toys or wine or chocolates and after lets say 45 years of that it must be pretty boring! Anyway...any ideas?
haha...coffin...R.I.P...so funny!!!

Answer
All they really need is love.

This is an age when you are beyond mundane gifts. But then, there may be little things that make her comfortable. Find out and give those.

Maybe, take her to a parlor to get he hair done. Or a good pedicure and head massage.
These make one feel so good.

Or, buy a favorite perfume.
Or a soft, warm, robe she'll wear all winter.
Old people need extra warmth.

And wish her a Happy Birthday from me too!

My Grandfather 70th birthday Ideas what to get also as a 2nd gift i'm doing a shrit ideas for a saying?

Sondra

ok I wanna get him something but haven't a clue.So any ideas??? I know he's retire milatry guy and works in his farm alot. Also I've got some left over iron on stuff from son party so I'm doing a picture on a shirt of him and my son. Which he loves. He took my son at his party away from the rest of the crowd and hide behide a tree and just played for a while. And my sister got some great pictures of the two of the together. My son is his only great grandson. And So I wanna put the picture on a shirt with some cute little saying. I know some will say he's never gonna wear the shirt or stupid answers like such. I don't care if he wears it or not its just something sweet I wanna do. Also we don't call him grandfather or grandpa. He is called Pappa Joe. Because grandparents spilt and remarried.

i'd like whatever the saying on the shirt be something cute not about his age though. Like world great

Answer
As far as a gift goes, what my Dad really enjoyed when he turned 80 was the gift we got him for just pennies! We got the microfilm copy of the newspaper from his hometown on the day he was born! We made copies and put the pages on butcher paper. He was fascinated to see what had been happening on the day he was born. How much houses were selling for, what stores were having sales, who died on that day and did he recognize the names, what the weather was like, etc. etc.
As far as the shirt goes, how about a picture of the two of them on the back, and one of just your son on the front. Underneath your son's picture put "I love my Pappa Joe!" I'll bet he DOES wear it!!

Cheap Birthday gifts or gift bags for entire dorm floor..... ideas?

Whoopsies

I need some really cheap ideas for birthday gifts that I can make in bulk for my dorm floor. There are about 50 students and I have no idea what to do.

Maybe crepe papering the doors with balloons, then leaving a goodybag... but thats so boring!

ideas?

Answer
Go to Walmart and buy 3 or 6 regular size candy bars, wooden skewers, a roll of unisex color curling ribbon, and some cheap baskets or vases, floral foam, and tissue paper.

Make a candy bouquet by taking your container (basket or vase), putting a couple of layers of tissue paper inside, put foam in it, put skewer through candy bar and place candy bar in foam, then decorate with ribbon
