long distance boyfriend gift ideas?

my boyfriend & i just started going out but we've been really good friends for two years. He just moved away to kansas for college & his birthday is in a week. idk what to get him & i want to do something special..

Answer
If he likes sports, a ticket to the next game--on the condition he shares every detail with you--would work.

Write a letter--snail mail doesn't get deleted.

Do you know friends of his at the same college? Or can you find them via Facebook skills? Pay them off to give him small gifts--candy, a prank toy, a game, etc throughout the day randomly, with a dictated note.

Gift ideas for my long distance boyfriend?

Mari S

Hi!

So, we've been together for about three months now, and his birthday is next Wednesday but the problem is I can't use a credit card/any similar payment methods for now for reasons that have to do with age restrictions in bank operations (no one less than 21 years old can spend from their bank account without parents consent) - and my parents don't know about him..yet.

So, I was looking for something special and unique. I have no idea what to do! We met some time after my own birthday so he hasn't sent me any gifts yet - but he did offer. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
Sext him :D

Party ideas for a 11 year old boy.?

Q.

Answer
Besides the usuals (lasertag, skating, bowling) my son really enjoyed having parties at a minor league baseball or hockey game. You could also attend a major league game and buy reasonable tickets. Depends on time of year, obviously. Many minor league teams will have a separate area for parties (birthday package), provide your son with a t-shirt and have visits from a mascot, and allow you to take gifts back to the car before the game. Check their websites for party packages, or call their ticket office. They may also put his name on the video screen as a happy birthday wish.

Birthday gift ideas for 25 year old woman?

irishxprin

The woman in question is my best friend. She lives in London, England and I live in America. I am at a loss as to what to get her! She loves turtles, alpacas, planes, and going out with friends.
Let me reiterate I live in the USA. My best friend lives in the UK

Answer
tiny beanbag turtles of the type used for play or for decoration.
airmail stationary & stickers of turtles & planes
fall apron such as an apple print
dishtowels or potholders
book of comic strips, such as Cathy (ask the post office if there's a special book rate to the UK)
pictures or picture postcards from the area where you live
tiny gift book or bookmarks--The type of item often near the cash registers of bookstore.
Frisbee or other small lightweight game
playing cards & plastic card tray--You might find cards with turtles, alpacas, or planes in the design on the backs. Otherwise, any pretty design will probably be fine if it seems like the colors that she likes.
clear plastic cosmetic travel cases with brightly colored designs & bright zipper (I have a set of small ones in hot pink.) One might be the right size for pencils & pens. You might find a matched set of several small to medium ones. Could include little plastic travel bottles for her to put her cosmetics in.
chain or satin cord necklace with a charm, such as turtle, alpaca, or plane
bangle bracelets

Shopping in London?

My best friend is living in London, and I'm trying to see if I can order a gift card online for her birthday and have it mailed to her (using a Canadian Visa/MC, which should be fine). My problem is trying to figure out ideas of where to get her a gift card too without asking her.

She LOVES M.A.C. cosmetics, but apparently they don't sell online, which seems to be the problem with a lot of UK stores I've looked at (including H&M and Selfridges). She likes trendy clothing, but not super-expensive.

Alternatively, the M.A.C. website says Harrods sells M.A.C. makeup, but I can't seem to find any on their website. Can anyone confirm that? and if so, do they have a large selection?
Oops, It should have said "M.A.C. doesn't sell their gift cards online", they DO sell products online, but like the below poster said, she'd rather go to a store and check things out.

Answer
I think that is an excellent idea and very sweet thought of you.

You could go to this website to buy a voucher, redeemable at some of the shops listed below, that all sell all kinds of stuff, including clothing and MAC make up: http://www.voucherexpress.co.uk

If your friend lives in London, she may actually prefer to go to the stores and check out the collections, instead of buying online? 9 stores in London sell MAC, the ones with an asterisk are department stores that will accept the gift voucher:

*Harvey Nichols, 109 Knightsbridge, London, SW1X 7RJ
M·A·C, 109 Kings Road, Chelsea, London, SW3 4PA
*Selfridges, 400 Oxford Street, London, W1X 1AB
M·A·C , 28 Fouberts Place, West Soho, London, W1F 7PR
M·A·C, Unit 4, 28a Kensington Church Street, Kensington London, W8 4EP
*House of Fraser, 68 King William Street, London, EC4N 7HR
Fenwick, Brent Cross Shopping Centre, Hendon, London, NW4 3FN
M·A·C, Unit 4, 38 Neal Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9PS
Harrods, 87-135 Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, London, SW1X 7XL

Any great birthday gift ideas for my husband?

Amy27

He is SO difficult to buy for. I can't buy him clothes...he's too picky about his clothes. He's into wine, chocolate, music, collector muscle cars, computers, and is an executive/frequent traveler. I've run out of original ideas on these angles. I even gave him a wine club once. I've bought him every possible professional / travel accessory I could think of......for previous gifts. I'm out of ideas! Any suggestions?

Answer
perhaps a subscription and receiver for satellite radio or maybe a GPS device (those are on the high $ end)

On the less expensive end, I'd suggest a nice 'coffee table' illustrated book on Collector muscle cars, or something like that.

A special personal gift that means more might be if you were to make him something. You could make fondue, or a luscious chocolate desert. You could download and burn a CD compilation of music (the old mix tape gift!) Maybe if a car show is coming to your area, you could get tickets.

just a few ideas, hope he has a happy one.

Birthday gift ideas for a 14 year old boy?

Yep me

My son is turning 14, and he isn't giving out enough ideas for gifts. He has a laptop and an Xbox 360. He plays fighting/shooting games on them. We have 2 dogs, and he plays basketball, rides his bike, and plays on our trampoline. Please! I need ideas!

Answer
does he have an ipod touch? they're expensive, around two hundred dollars, but if you bought him one with a twenty five dollar gift card and some earphones he'd love you. if you consider this get skullcandy earphones, they're the best. im 14 and everyone has an ipod where i live; i got one last year and it was the best present i've ever gotten besides my ps3 and xbox.

if he doesn't have call of duty: black ops or mw3 you could get him that (though he probably already has it), but ask him if he likes it first. don't waste your money. another good game is assassin's creed 3 and elder scrolls: skyrim on xbox 360. this is my personal opinion but don't get mass effect 3 (a game that came out recently). the endings are terrible. dragonage 1 is a good game, but dragonage 2 is pretty bad. the whole entire time i tried to convince myself that its a good game like the previous but i just couldnt

anyways... i also have a dirtbike and longboard. those are mad fun, but dirtbikes are also like two hundred bucks. if he likes bikes consider a dirtbike or ask him about it

does he have a steam account (Steam is a digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications platform developed by Valve Corporation (o yea i just copied that right off wikipedia i got swag))? if he does get him a vanilla card and let him buy games on there. i just got metro 2033 and total war on pc and theyre awesome.

if he has a favorite basketball player or something, you could buy a fathead for your son (could be about 100 dollars). thatd be pretty funny if i woke up to a life size michael jordan or on my wall lol id be like damn when did that get there

if he has a favorite book series... check which ones he has and get him the next one. though maybe hes not really into books.

lastly... no kid would mind if u just gave him 100 bucks or a vanilla gift card with 100 bucks on it. that way he could buy anything on like, amazon or something he likes. it gives him choice, so its a great present.

oh, i forgot. if he likes southpark, or family guy, dvd sets are good. just anything of his favorite tv show. southpark ftw

good luck dude, im sure whatever u pick will be good mamacita

what can i get him for his birthday?

me

Answer

subscription to xbox live
subscription to a magazine he reads or to one of his hobbies (example: football, gaming, music,)
tickets to a movie, or sports game like football
itunes card
gift card to hollister
wallet
watch
axe or oldspice bodywash, deoderant, cologne
dvd seaon of his favorite tv show
cd's

17th birthday gift ideas???

Kryssy

I'm 17 today and I still cant decide what to tell my dad what i want since he keeps asking me. I already have a nice car, cell phone, and a laptop, and i don't want an ipod. I don't like asking for anything that costs too much even though my dad is perfectly content spending the money. I just want something that I can show to my friends and say "My dad is the best in the world!". If you can't tell, I'm really attatched to him.

Any ideas???

Answer
So I saw these really cool light fixtures that I really want, and if I can't have them somebody should lol... its a lil LED lights that attatch to anywhere in your room - on the wall, under the bed, on your headboard and come in all kinds of colors. They aren't ugly when they aren't shining or anything and they add a really cool glow to any area in your room. They're ten bucks a pop and you can find them on lakeside.com. Tell him to buy me some ;p Just kidding...
That website also has a gift where you can name someone a star for only a lil over ten dollars and it comes with a plush animal, a map with the star and you can access all about it on the internet. Talk about a gift to last a lifetime! You could look up at the sky and be like that one right theres my star, isn't my dad the best?
Actually, I'm really close to my dad too and I've always thought the best gifts were things that are very personal. He' very creative and resourceful and has been known to make me jewerly, shelving, decorations and all kinds of stuff. Tell him that he's the best gift and you just want something simple from his heart that shows how much he loves you. Its not as difficult as it sounds. For example, my dad made me this awesome bracelet that I wear almost every day and I know it couldn't cost too much. All you have to do is go to a craft store and pick up some memory wire and string it with beads and charms and that way he can personalize it. The bracelet looks like spirals on your wrist and I get compliments all the time. Its always a proud feeling when I tell people that my dad made it for me, isn't he the greatest? ;D
On the other hand, if you guys have the money to spend suggest he take you for some one on one time to some really cool place that you don't often get to go. Something you can brag to your friends about. I don't know what your into so I'll just leave that to you to see what's going on locally for you. My mom took me to the butterfly pavilion one time and that was pretty unforgetable. I have pictures of myself covered in butterflies.
Speaking of pictures, you could ask for a camera so you can fill your room with pics of your friends and family!
The possibilities are endless really, just remember the best gifts creative and original because they come from the heart.

Mom's 50th Birthday...Gift ideas needed?

bh90210fan

Here is what I have so far...
I got her a nice basket from target, so she can use anywhere in the house. Anyway, since her b-day is close to Easter I went with the basket theme. In the basket, i got her 4 pair of flip flips from Old Navy. A collage picture frame, with pictures in it, a cookbook, she loves them, and a sweet pea bath and body set. I just feel like there needs to be something else, after all it is her 50th. Any ideas of what I could add?

Answer
It depends on how much you want to spend, but I think you should take those cheezy little plastic easter eggs and fill them with special little trinkets, like maybe a locket with pictures of her kids in it, or earrings. They don't have to be expensive, just sentimental and nice. You could go with sterling silver and keep it in the $20 range, or you could go with something more expensive and go with gold or something. I think thats already a super nice and cute gift, really thoughtful, and I don't think you really NEED anything else, but if you're going to do more, thats what I would do.

Any ideas for a birthday gift for a sweet 16 (girl)?

Zee

My friend is having a sweet 16 birthday in a couple of days and I have no idea what to get her! I really want to get her something related to her favorite band (The Neighbourhood). However their album is sold out in my country and there isn't any merchandise I can get her. I was thinking of printing a collage of their lyrics onto a shirt or make it as a poster, but that's all I can think of. Any ideas? Please help ASAP!

p.s. She also likes Kodaline, The Fray, Pink Floyd, Mayday Parade and Bob Dylan.

Answer
Burn her a CD of all her favorite music. And bake some birthday cup cakes for her.

50th birthday suggestions...?

guitardrum

I need some ideas for both things to buy and party ideas for my dad.

He grew up on a farm overseas in Canada, then he moved right around the world when he got married. He hasn't made any of his own friends, only about 5 guys that are just married to my mums friends, n they're not really that close. He spends most time working, and he doesn't have many interests - TV, American/Canadian sports that he can't watch here, computers thats it. We thought about getting him a ticket back for a while at Christmas (around his bday) but he's only just started a new job, so we're not sure if he can get much holiday leave yet, n we don't have much money either and its a lot more expensive than we'd normally spend. The only thing he's said that he wants is a new TV, but its expensive and my mum wont get one for him, noone else wants it. I thought we should try and get him something like what he used to enjoy when he was younger, like tickets to a concert, or hire a motorcycle if you can do that (I don't know if his license would have expired, probably coz he's in another country after 30yrs). He used to do lots of that, he spent nearly 10 years travelling, going to bars n concerts, riding bikes etc. n he talks about it a lot still. Problem is not many bands he was into come to Perth, last thing he went to was a Pink Floyd tribute. We always have trouble with gifts, the last few years we've got DVDs and chocolates, we don't really want to do that again though. He likes golf but he stopped a while ago coz its too expensive and takes too much time, and all the people he used to play with dont contact him anymore. Doesnt really like expensive things like watches or anything, he's more interested in stuff like what he was used to in the country I guess. We've come up with a few people to come to a party but I'm not sure that he'll enjoy it that much, he seems to want to ignore it but that might just be coz he knows there's no-one much to admittedly he's not the greatest guy but I still wanna do something like what he used to do before he came here. Any ideas?
we're not exactly one big happy family either

Answer
tom1thomas1, I have a few suggestions. TVs are expensive, maybe start a savings account for one. You may not be able to purchase one now but, over time it can be added to. Material things will eventually disappoint us, a gathering might have the greatest satisfaction (even though it may not be realized now). Being one big happy family is ideal but, we all have struggles. Enjoy each other while you can! Gather around him, ask him about times in his life, and encourage each other.

What should I buy for my mum for Mother's Day?

Jessie

I only have $100 budget seeing as my mum and I are saving to go to Perth in November for my 18th birthday and I dont know what to buy her. She isn't really much for jewellery so I'm not gunna buy her any and she has heaps of bathroom stuff like candles bath salts ect. and heaps of teddy bears. What should I buy her?? Any ideas?? Nothing sexual please cause that's just eww.

Answer
Gift certificate to a Spa or a Nail Salon.
Take her out to dinner.

My favorite gift ever from my children was a framed portrait of my daughter and my son. I still cherish that portrait. One year they gave me a Mother's ring with the birthstones of each of them, and mine in the middle. That may be out of your budget for this year, but could be an idea for another year. You could do a necklace, a bracelet, or a ring.

50th Birthday Ideas???

jc207

Where should I take my mom for her 50th Bday in Houston, TX? That she can enjoy and they allow children....ideas for gifts??? THANKS PEOPLE! :D

Answer
For my mothers 50th I completely transformed her garage by going to wal-mart and buying the cheapest bolts of black stretchy material they had and stretched that over the walls and the ceiling. Get some paper stars(different sizes), silver spray paint, then get a screw driver or any kind of medium size stick.First tape stick to the tip of the star and hold it up close to the material and the spray the silver paint over the star. Repeat that with all the different sizes a;; over the walls(on the material) and when you are done there wil be a bunch of black stars with the silver outline. It looks real cool. practice first though so you get a feel of what I am talking about.
I also sent her school pic from when she was 8 to her co-worker and had them posted up all over the building. (she had no idea how they got those pics)
You can go to a party supply and get a sign that hangs on the wall for everybody to sign and write a message. you can also buy the package of over the hill road signs and put them on plywood and use those as signs to follow to get to the party. attach some balloons to them too.this is great if your house is hard to find or you live in the country or both!
Get a hold of old friends and classmates and maybe even teachers if you can.
The to top it all off a stripper.
If you don't have the money for a stripper then take up a collection at the party b-4 the stripper arrives and let the guests know about it before they arrive put it on the invitations. but be sure to let them know they are not obligated to chip in though. it worked out great for me =)

Mom's 50th birthday gift ideas?

Natalie :]

I wanted to give my mom something Special besides the gift im buying her. My sister is putting together a slide show of pictures of my mom threw out the years. I wanna do something like this but i cant think of what i can do. Does anyone have any ideas???/

Answer
I suggest you use the photos your sister is using for the slide show. Find one of her when she was young and one of her today. Have them printed up nicely and put them in a decorative frame. The 'young' photo on the left and the 'today' photo on the right. You can find a nice 2 sided frame for this.
Use flattering photos, too, by the way.

This is a nice idea.

Also- make her favorite dinner along with her favorite dessert(s). Make her feel very special.

Good horse gift under $20?

Brooke

My good friend's birthday is coming up and i have noooooo idea what to get her. She does contesting and **loves** her lime green, but she also does a little english as well. In the past i've gotten her polo wraps, a contesting head stall, saddle pad, and just stuff that she could find useful. Money is tight around the house so i have my limit, but any ideas would be helpful!

Answer
Ooh, I also love lime green :)

Some things in the 20$ price range:
- Personalized Halter
- Fly Sheet (if on sale)
- Lime-green nylon hay net
- Fly Mask
- Fly Bonnet (for riding, different than a fly mask)
- Saddle Cover
- Lime-green hoof pick or brushes
- Fly Spray
- Boot shining kit (a cute mini grooming-box with a few leather care products inside)
- Riding gloves
- Tail wrap or tail bag (if her horse would benefit from one)
- 'Likit' treats or other horse-treats
- Lime-green Lead Rope
- Blanket Surcingle

How about you get creative and try to personalize some stuff yourself? You can probably embroider her name onto a nylon halter, tie-dye some polo wraps, or even bake a horseshoe-shaped cake!

Good luck :)

What can I send my soldier in Iraq?

NequaBaby

My husband was sent to Kuwait a few days ago and I find the need to send him something. Can anyone help me think of some ideas?

Answer
I got really creative when sending dh things downrange. I did a baseball themed package once and sent a baseball DVD that I knew he liked, along with shelled peanuts, cracker jacks, and sunflower seeds. I also sent a baseball and signed it, "You are my perfect catch!" Cheesy, yes, but he loved it.

I also made a "movie night" package and sent microwave popcorn, a few of his fave movies, candy, etc.

You can send a homemade calandar with pictures of family/friends. The kids made him cards and wrote him letters as well. I made homemade cards with words cut out of magazines, and told cute little stories, or dirty little jokes b/t the two of us. I made him a "love" coupon book for when he was coming home.

I also sent letters, a few a week, and once a week sent packages containing different items such as peanuts, beef jerky, pickled okra, jalapenos in a jar, mayonaise (the real stuff-his FOB only had Miracle Whip), and the hot sauce he likes, etc.

There is a cake in a jar that you can make that's pretty good too. You can find the recipes online. Send it with a can of icing, sprinkles, and a candle for his birthday.

I of course sent him pictures, some x rated (mostly through email so others wouldn't hi-jack them) along with an article of my clothing sprayed with perfume (that came regular mail).

I sent him Copenhagen as he said the dip they had there was different from US Copenhagen. I would also send magazines that he likes, like Sports Illustrated, Men's Health, etc.

I made him things here and there to send as well, like a picture frame. I sent him the nice body wash from B&B Works and some finer things, like a scented candle that he couldn't get over there. I sent him a t-shirt of his favorite football team during football season so he could wear it while he watched the game on AFN. They can only wear civilian clothes in their room and like at night or on down days so I sent him a pair of workout shorts and some regular socks to lounge in. He said that even if for a few hours, it was nice to not be in uniform.

I sent alcohol a few times. I know you're not supposed to, but his command was pretty relaxed and I knew he wouldn't get into trouble. I used Listerine bottles, poured out the mouth wash and refilled with vodka. I wrapped them in ziplock bags in case of a leak and never had any issues. A friend of mine sent her dh beer bottles inside of Pringles cans. I've heard they've really cracked down on alcohol downrange though, so check with your hubby first on that one.

When he got ready to come home, he sent all his gifts, keepable items, back in footlockers. We still have it all.

If you're crafty, you can make a blanket out of fleece of his favorite sports team or hobby. I know dh liked having his room like a little "home". It made him more comfortable.

I need a 50th Birthday gift idea?

Rebecca M

My husband's Aunt is turning 50 tomorrow and their having a SURPRISE party and I hate not bringing a gift, what is something thoughtful yet not expensive? Like under $20???

Answer
I would suggest flowers. Since you don't want to spend anything over 20, flowers are the best gift idea for someone her age. A pot flower would be suggested so that she can water them and take care of them. Or, you can get her a nice sterling silver necklace.

Answer
Hhmm. . . Something you can make. . . Something a male teenager likes. . . It really depends on his tastes, but how about:
a cake or his favorite food? a calendar? a charm or chain? a knitted cap, handkerchief, wash cloth, shirt, sweater? a card? a journal? origami? a cd with his favorite music? a dvd with a movie the two of you can watch together? design a shirt for him, if they're any shops that let you put whatever you want on it? if he likes painting and art, then a drawing or a blank art book for him?

Ideas for wife's birthday?

Q. We're both 23 and this will be her first birthday, since we got married. My wife's really big on birthdays, and I wanna make this one special for her. She's not into to surprise parties, and we both work so we can't travel at the moment. Her birthdays's Tuesday, so I can't really order anything online. But like what are some romantic ideas? Should we go out, or should I cook her a meal? I thought about cooking her dinner and then doing whatever she wants... Cuddle, watch a movie ect. So just give some ideas if you can. Also, is it wrong for me to initiate sex on her birthday? Do girls like it on their B day?

Answer
Well do it the fun way:

1. Make up a Birthday Gift Certificate that says, "Good for 1 romantic birthday, which includes but may not be limited to the following:

a. A romantic dinner for two in an exotic place in the back yard (or other proximate location nearby).
b. Lots of birthday cuddles and kisses.
c. Optional bubble bath or loofah shower (depends on what you have to work with).
d. Candle light of all kinds.
e. Movie (pick a good DVD depends on what she likes for a movie, not what you want to watch).
f. Sex, at the option of the named bearer of this Certificate.
g. Tax, tips, miscellaneous gratuities and batteries are included.

2. Pick a spot where you want to serve her dinner.

3. Make dinner (her favorite meal).

4. Include a small birthday cake or desert that you know she'll like.

5. Have dinner in that spot and proceed to the movie, sex or both.

Answer
Beauty and Spa Gift Basket
You can purchase this or make one for her. choose a large basket to be filled and line it with a soft bath towel or other linen product. Fill the basket with beauty and spa products such as makeup, soap and face wash, a face mask, perfume or body spray, body lotion, bubble baths, bath salts and a loofah.

Scented Candles
There is a wide range of candles to choose from with nice candle holders and tealights. Aromatherapy candles are a great option to help her unwind and relax after a long day. Candles come in any scent you can imagine, so choose the one your aunt would appreciate the most.

anyone have idea what present is not too expensive, but HUGE? for a birthday of a 16 years old girl.?

xtrav2

I live in New Zealand and yeah.. our budget is like NZ$30 left >< We're kinda looking for a HUGE present that she will be surprised of when she sees it.

Answer
Well, you could give her new bed sheets, a chair that folds, some kind of furniture for her room, a movie player, a small TV for her room (you'll have to look at garage sales to get one that cheap). Other than that, if she hasn't asked for a giant thing, you don't have to make it huge. Here's an idea. Give her a gift card for approx 30$. Then she can go out and never be disappointed. After all, teenagers usually like smaller gifts, because it could mean an ipod, cell phone, gaming system, game, etc. Happy hunting!

What is a good gift to send in the mail ?

. . &p#@l!

Something small, not tooo big, and something that would be nice for a 14 year old girl birthday present

Thanks in advance
Shes loves books but shes probally read most of the ones i know and shes not very a gamer, she loves the roxy brand tho.
How much do you think it would cost to post a book of clothes from Auckland to Tauraunga ?

Answer
What stuff is she in to, etc, what's your budget? maybe like a teen magazine subscription.. like girlfriend, dolly. Jewelery and accerories, clothing if you know her style well and her sizes.. A book?
If it's pricey you can go for a ipod, celphone, camera, ds, psp.. Teens usualy want the latest technology lol.
Vouchers, for a store they like, for anything really depending on interests..
If she's like quite girly you can get her something like a hair curler or hair straigtener if she doesn't have one, make-up, nail polish etc etc.. hair accesories like hair extensions or something.
If she's into like disney.. can get her something to do with miley cyrus, jonas brothers etc. Theres a little bit of merchandise around.
It all depends on her interests and what she's like.
Living in different cities, you can get her something you can only get in Auckland.
Just some ideas, theres lots of things that are good to send in the mail.. if i knew more about her i could porbbaly give better answers.

edit: i order clothes off trademe alot, i usualy pay like a average of around $5 or just over for courier shipping from anywhere in NZ if the clothing item(s) isn;t big or isn;t a bulk lot, to give you an idea of shipping costs.
You could ask her what she'd like.. would ruin the surprise, but least you'll be getting her something you know she wants and she'll be garenteed to be happy with it. Like there may be a particular book she wants, and you can add in something small that you picked out for her aswell. But yeah you could go with the roxy if you have an idea of what she;d wear.. or a smallish handbag, watch, etc, from the brand would be good too.

Birthday gift ideas for my girlfriend?

Housefanat

We're both bi, and because we've only been dating for 2 months our parents don't know. It's her birthday this saturday and since we're in a long distance relationship i'll be driving to see her on sunday...but as of right now i have no idea what to get her. I can't get her anything her parents will question about, she's not into jewelry, i've gotten her flowers a lot in the past so doing it for her birthday wouldn't be anything special, i will be taking her out to dinner....it's her 21st, and i'm 19....i have no idea!!! help!!! i want it to be something she'll remember forever.

Answer
The best memories aren't really presents, but rather events in my opinion. I'll remember having fun with someone far better than a gift i'm given. Time is a precious gift, don't waste it, use it. Hang out at the park saying all sorts of crazy things, take her on a pretty hike, take her breath away by the way you spend your time together, not by a fancy present.

Need Gift Ideas for girlfriend!?

Q. My girlfriend is turning 17 next week and I was wondering on what I should get her? I was thinking about getting her jewellery or clothes but I dont really know what to get. So if you guys have any ideas that would be great! I'm willing to spend about $100-150 so anything in that range would be fine. I was thinking about getting her some things like bras or whatever from victorias secret would that be a good gift? Thanks!

Answer
Considering her birthday is next week, it makes her a Pisces ...
When choosing a gift for Pisces, don't forget their personality. They love to be creative. Anything that gets their creative juices flowing is great. They love romance. Jewelry, art, history and religion appeal to them. music feeds their soul. They love gardens, animals and fine food.

When choosing a Pisces gift, think sensual. Something that tickles their tastebuds, gives them comfort or is a treat for the eye would be perfect. They appreciate all beautiful things, from the flowers of nature to handcrafted tapestries. They are children of the ocean, so anything relating to water is welcome.

If you still can't think of anything yourself based on this advice, here are some suggestions that Pisces will love. Be sure to tailor these suggestions to your particular Pisces.

Pisces is sentimental. Give them family photos of treasured moments, framed exquisitely, of course. If they are interested, give them a camera so they can make their own memories. Scrapbooking supplies are a great way for them to keep track of their mementos. Anything related to water is wonderful. Bath oils and fragrances will pamper the body. An aquarium will provide hours of amusement. A tabletop water fountain will provide a wonderful focal point and the sound of water. If they like to swim, think of accessories they may need.

Music is a treat for their ears. Tickets to a concert, a CD from their favorite band or lessons would all be good gift ideas for Pisces. To treat their eyes, a new piece of artwork is always welcome. You could also give them art supplies to create their own art and treat their creativity. To treat their nose, a new fragrance or perhaps an essential oil kit would come in handy. Perhaps a set of aromatherapy oils, a diffuser and a book on how to use different scents for healing may be a most perfect gift.

For their sense of touch, give them soft clothing or blankets that they can luxuriate in. Anything that is a joy to touch would give them happiness. For their sense of taste, fine foods or a bottle of good wine hit the spot every time. A hamper of gourmet goodies to take on an intimate picnic would be welcome.

Jewelry is always a welcome gift. It appeals to Pisces' sense of beauty. Gemstones can hold great meaning for them, so be sure you choose one of their favorites. Aquamarines, amethysts and other watery stones hold great fascination for them.

A romantic night may be the perfect gift. Be sure to remember the candlelight and perfect settings to set the mood. Make it relaxing and open for whatever possibilities may occur. Spending time with them, assuring them of your friendship or love will mean a great deal to them.

Birthday Gift Idea's for Mom's 50th?

KittenCats

Hi! I'm 13 and i really want to get my mom something that she will remember for her 50th birthday. If you could give ideas for some expensive gifts and other that are like 10-15 under that would be great! She doesn't wear makeup or perfume, she likes to read and she loves her animals, please dont seggest more animals because we cant do that. Also my older sister can drive me places, if i need her too. But i want her to have the best birthday and look at me like i the best daughter ever! Please help(:

Thanks. (:

Answer
Get a casual photo of your family & have it blown up to maybe a 5x8 size for framing.

You could have a party for her, surprise or not. Sometimes the pizza places will have a party room free of charge if you have at least 20 people. Might be that they have both pizza & pasta. That's the kind of party we had for my 50th. One all-you-can-eat buffet place in my home town had a party room, & my mother arranged to have a family reunion there.

If you want it to be a surprise, then tell her you're taking her out for pizza or whatever, then when she gets there, everybody's there. Could be both friends & family, even those coming from out of town & maybe you mom's co-workers, too.

However, when it was me, I figured out that a friend was doing a surprise party, & I told her I preferred just a party & not a surprise. I made a game of comic strips from newspapers, using white-out over the punch line for people to fill in with their own, laid out & photocopied from a single page & mailed with invitations. It was a contest, but I should have had everybody just pass them around instead of having judges. I do think one or two games is a good idea. Just give everybody little party favors, though, & not prizes for a contest that somebody has to judge.

I also wanted to do a sing-along for both kids & adults. I wanted to type out & print copies of the words of well-known songs. My friend said we should just ask the kids what they wanted to sing, & they would know the words. It never happened, & the kids just colored at the kids' tables on the pictures these places always provide. You couldn't have it very loud anyway.

Someone made my favorite huge apple cake for me, & that worked fine, cleared with the restaurant when we made the reservations. The restaurant supplied us with a stand & the plates for it by our pre-arrangement. Also, arrange to arrive 30 min. early to put up a few balloons & make sure it's all set up. You can buy or make decorations that say Happy 50th. Just get very few that you can hang & take down in 5-10 min.

This, of course, would be expensive, but in this case, you could get away with getting families to pay their own, with you just furnishing the cake. Or you could furnish pizza, with people paying for their own if they ordered anything else, like salad or pasta. You could also pay for drinks. Just figure out what you can do & let people know on the invitation. Invite about 100 people in order to get 20. That's how it was with me anyway. Let people bring kids because then more will be able to come, & besides, kids are fun sometimes, too.

Be ready, of course, to stand up & say something to the group, thanking them for coming & saying something about your mom, maybe just before singing Happy Birthday & cutting the cake. Your mom would probably want to say something, too. Whatever you each say, make it short, like 1 minute & not 5. Have someone corral the kids away while you're talking. With me, I just asked them sweetly to wait while I spoke, & it worked because I made it fast. Of course, you'll want to take some quick snapshots, too.

Either you or your sister should bring a clipboard or notebook & make a list of anybody bringing gifts so your mom can write thank-you notes afterward. For people on email, once again thank everybody who attended, too, especially if they paid for their own.

Happy 50th to your mom. It is indeed a special birthday that will be remembered.

Homemade gift ideas for my mom's birthday? (preferably quick and easy)?

Muri

Answer
a mason jar filled with dried fruit. Tie off the lid with fabric and some ribbons.

If you really want to do something amazing, I'll share a very surprising thing my daughter did for me one year:
She washed all my clothes. Ironed my clothes. Hung them neatly in the closet...and had my entire closet organized. My shoes were even lined up. On my birthday, she blindfolded me and lead me to the closet and then opened the doors and then took the blindfold off and said: "Surprise!"
I WAS SPEECHLESS. It took her 2 weeks to do this...
She was 13 at the time. She said she had worked on this very patiently.
I was so proud of her. What a special gift that is.
It was my most memorable birthday gift of all time.

What are some last minute gift ideas for your mother's birthday?

Alessandra

She is going to be 36 years old! She does so much for her family and her birthday is one day that we get to spoil her! So if you can think of some great gifts it is greatly appreciated. And because life gets so busy I forgot to buy her a present and her birthday is tomorrow 10/06/06!!!!! Shame Shame : ( on me.....

Answer
Why don't you just make the time to spend with her....take her out for dinner, lunch, breakfast or cook dinner for her. Mom's are sentimental and want to know that their children love them enough to give them their "time" because if it hadn't been for the time your mother spent on you, you probably wouldn't be the person you are today....so give her your time and let her know how special she really is...and next year, put a little more creativity into it because she is worth it...I always do something special for my mother on Mother's Day and her birthday, and it doesn't usually cost alot, but always comes from the heart. I have been known to write poetry, make a collage of pictures of her children with her, cook her favorite meal, throw a surprise party with family and friends. I started something and now my own children do the same for me.....From a mom's perspective, there is nothing more special than your children's time.

I have to purchase a last minute gift for a physicians birthday. Is gift certificates to a resturaunt ok?

happydawg

I thought about a $40 dollar gift certificate to somewhere like Ruby Tuesdays or perhaps Red Lobster.
He is from Egypt. Any one out there from Egyptian culture with any ideas?

Answer
A restaurant gift certificate is a great idea for a physician who doesn't have much time to cook. However, there are a lot of great local restaurants in town. I would go with one of those (perhaps from the Gaslamp District) instead of a chain.

Boyfriends 21st birthday, gift ideas please!?

blonde14

My boyfriend and I will be together for 3 years a week after his 21st birthday. I am 22 and am trying to figure out what to get him for his birthday. Im trying to put the limit at 100 at the most. Im trying to do a more thoughtful gift or a few smaller gifts. I want it to be sweet but also be something he can enjoy. He likes hunting, fishing, drinking, all of that kind of stuff. Yes, I am going to get him a bottle or 21 beers but I want to get him more than that because a 21st is special. Please, any ideas will be helpful!

Answer
The key is the symbol of the 21st Birthday so how about something key-related ?
They say that it's the symbol of the person becoming a senior member of the household and therefore entitled to a key of the home and/or it's a symbol of the key opening the door to future opportunities and happiness.
I think this Key Tool, Swiss Tech Utili-Key Key Chain, is a great gift for a man's 21st birthday - a gadget and a symbol all in one !
It includes various useful tools and comes in a metal gift box, you can get it on Amazon.

Gift ideas for a 5 year old female?

proud m

My daughter is turning five in a few days and I have NO clue what I am going to buy her yet! I really want to avoid the toy section because she REALLY does not need toys! Between her, and her siblings my house is over-flowing with toys LOL We've gotten her a few outfits/dresses that she had asked for but I don't want that to be her only birthday gift! I've thought about maybe videos...she'd really really like the Hannah Montana movie (that poor me got dragged to the theaters to see HAHA) but it doesn't come out on video until the 18th which is after her birthday. Am I the only mommy now-a-days that feels clueless in the gift department??? Any ideas are appreciated!

Answer
What about...?

* Dress ups - every girl loves to dress up!
* Accessories for toys she already has eg. dolly clothes or cartridges or new games etc for electronic toys
* An inexpensive CD player or MP3 player and some music to go with it.
* An inexpensive digital camera
* An IOU card for the Hannah Montana movie and a promise of a special movie day (at home) when you get it (with you or some friends)
* A special day out at a favourite place.
* Some cooking or craft toys that get used up and then they are gone.
* New bedding with her favourite characters (maybe Hannah Montanna with the movie IOU)
* Something personalised eg. a T-shirt with her name on it.

Some years I can't think of anything to buy my daughter and others I couldn't possibly buy everything I would like to; frustrating either way.

Gift ideas for my 1 1/2 yo. and 3 yo. (issues with gifts)?

sara

This Christmas my husband and I are running into an issue with buying gifts for our daughters, I was thinking of a Thomas the train set for both of them to share as we can add to it for birthdays and gift giving holidays but I'm afraid its to small for my youngest. Any thoughts or ideas on what I could get for them. Must buy either one big thing or two identical toys. Which is the problem. My oldest is ready for older kid toys (5-6 year old toys) because she is very mature and careful with her things and keeps them put away. But my youngest although she follows in her sisters foot steps and acts like she's 3 also is immature with toys chews on them throws them won't put them away puts them in her mouth ect. We cannot get different toys though has to be the same toy or they fight like cats and dogs. Youngest like princess and fairy stuff oldest likes fire trucks (because daddy is a firemen) and cars (towmater to be exact) but if one gets a princess and one gets a truck they fight and cry over not having the same things

Answer
There are toys that have a play range of 11/2 to 5 year old.

I got a 4 year old girl and 1 year on boy. I plan on getting them two cushion chairs and My Airport by Fisher Price from Kohls and a train. Other ideas blocks and books. Have the older read to the younger.

sweet sixteen ideas??

Maria18

i'm going to have a sweet 16 party in about a month.. but the problem is i don't really know what to do. any ideas?? anything fun would be appreciated. I'm planning on inviting 16 year old girls.. thanks a lot!!

Answer
We are planning a surprise Sweet Sixteen for our daughter. The theme will be all about her. It will hinge around her and her fav. things. We will use dark blue and pink for sweet sixteen. Most items we found on Ebay. Cute sweet sixteen mylar balloons, personalized napkins, organza favor bags, and personalized ribbons to tie the organza bags. For party favors we bought her favorite candies, Lindt truffles & bon bons. You might want personlized M&M's or jelly bellies in the small packaged birthday bags. We also bought designer perfume samples on Ebay. They all were things about "her". For the guys we bought Hummer (because she drives a Riviera, and that is the company that makes the cologne), Lucky #6, Polo Blue (fav color), and for the girls we bought Vera Wang princess, Juicy Couture that came packaged in cute purses, Broadway nite & Phantom of the Opera, all things that are personal to her. We have included a note in each bag, so they know why we made these choices. Other cologne choices for guys might be , blue jeans, weekend, RSVP. You can really make the favor bags personal. We also bought some custom Hershey bar wrappers. Just do a search online for custom or personalized candy wrappers. Hers has pointe shoes on it as she is devoted to ballet. Again Ebay, right now has some adorable Hershey Sweet Sixteen candy wrappers. We also bought some sweet 16 table confetti at Haga's party supplies online. We are going to accent the table with semi precious faceted stones. There can be inexpensive if you wait for the right Ebay auction. IE: I got 144 pink sapphires for $5.50. I bought stones in pink hues, dark blue purple & clear to go with her colors. I also think custom fortune cookies for favors are a great idea. Again, Ebay. I have made them before, and if you make them yourself, use a online recipe with cornstarch, that worked the best for me. You have to be patient making your own, as each cookie takes about 6 minutes, but I personally wouldn't try it with such a large group. I will also make creme cheese mints in heart and gift package shapes. We have invited about 18 of her close friends to dinner at her fav quaint mexican restaurant. We will be having them driven around in a Excursion limosine. I have made 2 cd's with lots of fun birthday songs! We will be having a tiered birthday cake at home later, with a chocolate fountain. You can also get a inexpensive 5 tiered punch fountain on Ebay. We decided the chocolate fountain was enough, and will serve our guests Fre Spumante an alcohol free champagne. We have made a photo autograph book on shutterfly for her friends to sign. I made the pages on a photo program and saved each page as an image, and then uploaded to shutterfly. Winkflash has a 100 page book for 19.99 until March 15th. We also bought Phantom of the Opera type disposable cameras. With the developing, picture cd, and online host ing, each camera came to 7.00. I would strongly suggest have cameras for your guests to use available. If you are in an area that would work, I would look into the confetti canons. It would be neat for an entrance. When we get done eating cake & opening gifts, maybe they will watch Sixteen Candles on a big screen, or just mess around. Whatever they do, it will be fun. Hope this helps!

Sweet Sixteen gift ideas?

Kdawn18

Ok. So my ACTUAL birthday was a few days ago. I got $70 and a $50 gift card plus my grandma is taking me shopping. I got everything that I wanted and more. :) But now I'm having a party on May 7th with family. And I don't know what to ask for because I got everything I want. I was thinking since I LOVE dogs and I want to help them, I would just ask people to bring a donation instead of a gift for me. It would be a gift to help the homeless and needy dogs in a shelter. Is that a good idea? :)

Answer
Absolutely. I'm glad to see a teenager so conscience of others pain and suffering, most adults aren't even that nice. That is a very unselfish way to think just send out the names of your charities or shelters in your invitations. I'm glad that someone your age is so generous and good. Happy belated birthday!

Food gift ideas?? Vegan, Cheap/Affordable?

Elena

I would like to make some food gifts for people (diffferent occasions, birthdays, holidays, thankyou gifts..whenever) but I would like to make gifts that are at least somewhat healthy...vegan, and don't cost alot to make

Any thoughts?

Answer
Anything made from scratch is apt to be more healthful than mass produced food with chemicals in it.

These are nice in a fabric trimmed glass jar:

Jars of spiced nuts or candied nuts are also easy, and usually greatly appreciated.

Birthday gift for my boyfriend?

Madi

My boyfriends birthday is coming up soon, he's turning 16 and I don't know what to get him as a gift. I don't want to get him anything big. We've only been together for a month. He's vegan so baking him cookies or a cake isn't an option. Any ideas?

Answer
For example, No stress hat http://www.cafepress.com/GeoChemBio.551005695 and gym bag: http://www.cafepress.com/GeoChemBio.551005698
Nice gift is an object associated with what YOU LIKE (rather than he likes) because when using it heâll associate it w you. For example, cute throw pillow (benefit in that his parents may appreciate it) , for example cute owl throw pillow http://www.cafepress.com/GeoChemBio.525022325
Matching T-shirts are also fun, for example, for you:
http://www.cafepress.com/GeoChemBio.528414849 and for him http://www.cafepress.com/GeoChemBio.528414869
this way youâll get present not only for him but also for you, which is great
